Wow! IMHO her voice influenced the outcome of the war. I get a lump in my throat every time I hear her trademark song.

Like so many people my age, I became aware of Vera Lynn because of her mention on Pink Floyd's Album The Wall.

The opening lyrics to Vera:

Does Anyone Here Remember Vera Lynn?

Remember How She Said That

We Would Meet Again... Some Sunny Day?

I love this clip of her.

Judy's sister Kelly died today.  We were all down at the hospital for support.  Only her son and daughter could go in today to be with her.  Her respirator was at 100% and her lung damage was too significant for recovery.

I want to thank you all for your prayers and support.  She just wasn't strong enough.  My Grandfather always said death is just going through another door.  I do believe that.

I know Kelly has plenty of family and good people on the other side of that doorAngel

We love you KellyAngel

I have to come back and clear the air here

Kelly and her good nature would find that so funny Ken

She lives in a small house and the cow wouldn't fit very well

Humor is the best medicine and we all need it so much

I'm just waiting here to leave the parking lot and take Judy home after her niece and nephew come out   It's raining like cats and dogs here

Ulrich, good luck with your eye surgery.  I'm glad you sought immediate medical advice.  When you said you saw things that weren't there, I had an idea of what might be going on.

There is no accounting for prejudice.  My father's ships were bombed by both the Japanese and the Germans and he seemed to harbor no ill will to immigrants of either country yet he had other prejudices.

Ricky unless that is an opinion from the Cleveland Clinic, I would get another opinion on the aneurysm.  Sometimes the location makes them inoperable.

I can't make any sense in the Covid numbers.  In any indivdual state the numbers jump around.  The death rate is dramatically different in Virginia than in Maryland and Pennsylvania.  Those three states all have some world famous medical institutions.   It is still very low in Germany.

It's often compared to influenza, where various strains are more deadly than others.  Influenza death rate is a model.   The "experts" decided that death certificates underestimate the true incidence. How do we know the models are accurate?

One day we will figure out the experts, be they health, economic, social, government only think they know the answer, they don't really know.

Giving up on anything because of one bad experience sure limits how full a life we can live.

I may have missed to say, that this is not my first and one and only very negative experience with Danish people. Our money is welcomed, but we are not.

I think we are saying goodbye to Kelly tonight

And here I am, fussing about feeling discriminated by some Danish pastry not selling his home to us! I bow my head in shame.

Prayers to your family, TF!

Happy times!

Meanwhile, back in MN, ND, and SD ....

The Minneapolis, Northfield, and Southern was a short line railroad with tracks from the Twin Cities running soth of the Twin Cities.

It was sometimes called "The Dan Patch Line' which was the name of a race horse.

it´s a clear case of discrimination.

Types of discrimination.

  • race
  • national or ethnic origin
  • colour
  • religion
  • age
  • sex
  • sexual orientation
  • gender identity or expression
  • marital status
  • family status
  • disability
  • genetic characteristics
  • a conviction for which a pardon has been granted or a record suspended

Show me a place where discrimination does not exist. It makes no rational sense to discriminate for any of the above reasons but people do, go figure. I have been discriminated by people during some of my world travels but despite that I have found the majority of people have brains and are welcoming as can be.

Giving up on anything because of one bad experience sure limits how full a life we can live.

TF I sure hope Kelly does not live in a apartment! Think it would be hard to sneak a Cow in.

She won't need to worry about that

We are going down to the same parking lot we've gone down to everyday this week

The new medicine developed in England apparently is not working

I think we are saying goodbye to Kelly tonight

Yes, Poly Tics... (since we cannot talk politics here : )-

ROAR

When my daughter graduated from college, the speaker was Angus King, a senator from Maine whose son was also graduating that day.  The Senator said that "politics" is actually a compound word, from "poly," meaning "many," and "tics," meaning small, six-legged insects." This set off the biologists in the crowd, as tics have 8 legs, and are therefore not insects, but arachnids.

Ulridh,  Sorry to hear the bad news. For what it's worth, when my parents moved from the states to Nova Scotia there was some of the same about selling them property until they made it clear they were moving permanently and would live in the house full time. A lot of the real estate there was/is severly undervalued and lots of people were buying waterfront property with the intent of using it for a vacation/part time residence. That did nothing to help aging and declining communities. Hopefully you do not give up the idea and do make clear to your agent that you are looking to move and live in your new home full time.  J.R.

Well, I sent an email to the agent and he clearly lied to me - that´s it! The house actually will be going for less money than the asking price, so it´s a clear case of discrimination. There is no sense in pursuing it from a legal side, but it completely took my appetite for moving to Denmark away, as this is not the only time things like this have happened. So much for a United Europe!

I will undergo eye surgery tomorrow morning to avoid losing the vision on my left eye.

Happy times!

We live on a tidal marsh, so our birds are plentiful. We have a lot of gulls and wading birds. I've never lived around herons or egrets before, so they are a treat. The marsh is also along a migratory path, so we have a constant fly-by in the fall and spring. I did ask a Canadian friend on another forum what Canadians called Canada Geese. His immediate answer was "dinner."

Someone say Dinner?
