Sheldon you should slow down and smell the roses.
Lower Cape Hatarass beaches are much less developed than Ocean City to Fenwick Island. Durango Silverton is way better than Strasburg. All of us have seen pictures of the Grand Canyon, but your first look over the edge can't compare to any of the pictures.

Vacation? What is that? We have not really taken one of those in a decade or two. And the one we did take with all the kids years ago, the wife did not really like.
I am joking a little here, but only a little. We have never taken the kinds of vacations that have been described above.
My wife won't fly. Now I don't think she would go on a cruise. That's ok with me because there is nothing about a cruise that sounds interesting to me.
Beach? We live a rocks throw from the Chesapeake Bay, and in just a couple hours we can be in Cape May NJ, or Ocean City MD, playing in the Atlantic Ocean.
So our vacations are a long weekend here, a long weekend there, over night in a bed and breakfast in Cape May, a day trip to the Gettysburg battlefield, a day at the Strasburg Railroad (usually three or four times a year, we are less than an hour from there), or a trip to the B&O Railroad Museum.
No passports, no airplanes, no resorts, no strange food, no big expense.....
of course even thes kinds of vacations are on hold.....

The type of Arthritis I have is an Auto Immune Disease as is many forms of Arthritis and other diseases such as some types of Diabetes. I have extended members (various inlaws) that for some reason through extreme vanity issues or religious issues just go bonkers when I say I have an Auto Immune Disease instead of saying I have Arthritis. If they were not so shallow in their beliefs as to what Auto Immune Diseases represents I would not have to antagonize them.

We lucked out with our vacation this year. We took a Caribbean cruise in February and returned March 1, just before the dung made contact with the air handling mechanism. There were no cases in the Caribbean until after we got back, so the cruise was just as it should have been.
We had thought about the Durango and Silverton trip this fall, but that's not going to happen this year.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
Each year, my kids, their families, and we (us?) go on a vacation together. The past years we have been meeting at some great national parks.
This coming summer was Yellowstone and Tetons. When I was a kid, I saw the Old Faithful Inn from the outside, and I've always wanted to stay there. This was the year. We got reservations for that great old lodge.
Not anymore. We were notified that although the lodge may be opened sometime this summer, none of the restaurants and many of the things to see would remain closed. Maybe we'll try for next year. We'll be going somewhere else this summer.
I realize that many people are facing life and death, and so this issue for us is nothing more than disappointing.

One positive to come from the economic downturn is the price of gasoline. I did a double take a couple days ago when I saw the sign say gas was $1.39 a gallon. This might be the cheapest gasoline we've ever seen if adjusted for inflation. I started driving in 1969 and according to a website I found, the average price that year was 35 cents a gallon. If we adjust for inflation, that $1.39 a gallon gas would be the equivelant of 20 cents a gallon.
So I painted the rock faces inside the tunnels, got alot more work to do till I can put the lid on the mountains. Wonder how detailed to get and how far in to go. Also need to paint the track at entrance and balast that area, mountains can be a pain, too many decisions to make with not enough information. Last layout I just painted the interior black and ballasted about 4" in, this layout though being about a 1/6 the size I want to detail it much better, this includes the track.

I don't want amateur hunters shooting in suburban neighborhoods, but hiring a few professionals to thin the herd each year is a prudent move.

Does the tiger now have to wear a mask? How do you ensure he stays at a distance of 7ft. from you?
I am starting to believe that the virus SARS CoV 2 is causing insanity.
SeeYou190 The news this morning reported that all the Tigers at the Miami Zoo were tested for the virus. I really do not understand why. It is not like the Tigers go shopping or hang out at the beach. How much could they spread the virus? How much can their behavior be changed?

Now on to train stuff. Did some more foam work last night and did some inside tunnel wall texturing for what could be seen through the portals, starter paint this morning. Go to do soulder work today also, thought it would be eisier to go dead rail by now and was going that way, but I think the DCC and sound on board is winning the day, engines have gotten so cheap with those features now, and the detailing, WOW.

How much money would the bad guys have to ask for you to say that this loved one is not worth it? All of us are being held hostage by this monsterous virus. How much is too much to lose in the economy to save possibly millions of lives? Or, even just one? I almost died back in January, if it wasn't from this, if I get this I will most likely not survive. Who knows if you can or can't get it twice? Is my life worth the temporary inconvenience of having to take a few extra safety precautions? I feel it is, and am disappointed that those who I thought valued me as an asset to their business did not. And I am puzzled as to how people are more worried about money than peoples lives. Maybe it's because I almost didn't make it back a few months ago, that I see that money is not really all that important.... Question is did you save them or postpone. Could go into more details statistical wise but not allowed to. Most people can not face their own mortality, including me, especially me but I look at the facts, one of the reasons I try to keep in shape (really hard with this shelter in place). At least I will be better off financialy, of course you can never tell for shure but I have lots of dry powder and the feds are backstoping the downside in my case. I am very glad I am no longer a landlord, missed another bullit on that one. Hope I didn't step over the line with this post, tried not to. Well, if you mean postpone in that we all eventually die, why do any healthcare then? That also is just a postponing the eventual. If it was only a postponing, how much is one more day with a loved one worth? One more month? Year? More? Seems odd that money is more important than life to me.... Money does me zero good if I am dead. And, I walked out because they were not following safety protocols that the state had ordered be put into place, for everyone's protection. These safety protocols were not at all expensive, in fact, for me to follow it, it cost me in total $4. Even my going beyond the required, to the recommended protocols was only $14 more. So in my case, was at most $18 and a minor inconvenience of implementing safety protocol worth my risking unnecessarily my health and well being? No. It is not worth that little. Not by a long shot. And, I would not, and could not, allow others, who should value me, the option of needlessly risking my health because they could not be bothered to obey a government order on safety protocol. My walking out on my essential job has zero to do with "killing the economy" and everything in my case was about safety protocols not being followed or obeyed. So why was it even turned into allegedly killing the economy? And, what those who claim this is killing the economy fail to realize, if we do nothing about this virus, and possibly millions die, that will definitely have a much worse impact in the global economy than any measures so far taken ever would. And, saving the economy would not benefit any of us if we died trying to do that instead of trying to stop this virus.

SeeYou190coming into contact with an alligator has always been hazardous!
Not when they're shoes.
I just stumbled across the stupidist (most stupid?) news post I have ever read.
It is alligator mating season right now, so the biggie baddies are out roaming the streets of our fair cities for a couple of weeks.
The local news had a report where the animal control people were pulling an 8 footer out from underneath a minivan here in Cape Coral.
The news went on to say it is doubtful that alligators can carry the coronavirus, so coming into contact with one should not be hazardous to your health.
What... coming into contact with an alligator has always been hazardous! Virus or not. Good thing they don't like us and really do a good job of avoiding humans.
I wish I could share news links in here. This was classic.

They probably ate their keeper and now the zoo wants to know whether he passed on the virus!
In these times of madness and panic having substituted common sense, everything seems to be possible.
Ricky that's a tough break. I would think it was human nature to protect the most vunerable and to defer to their needs. I guess not.
Yet I understand the mentality of a small business person. They work hard, sometimes way more than 40 hours a week, sometime forego their own pay so they can pay employees and bills. They get to a point where they are successful and all of the sudden they have to close the door to their business. Cattle ranchers and pig farmers are getting destroyed with the packing houses closed down.
Samuel Pepys worried that his new wig came from the side of London where the Bubonic Plague was rampant. I infer from that they were still selling wigs and non-essentials during the plague.

Now this is not medical advise. We do not know if this shelter in place is working or not or doing anything long run and alot of rules givin out by state athorities will have trouble when taken to court, this is a fact. In 3 month you will all know the answers to the most important question, was distroying our economy worth it or if the ecconomy is distroyed or just damaged. I could tell you all the medical facts, what there are of them but steve won't let me.
ricktrains4824 It has now affected me in that I was forced to walk out on my j*b, due to the fact that nobody except me was taking it seriously. Even the boss was refusing to follow safety protocols ruled necessary by the state governor. I have asthma, so can not afford to take chances with the virus. I had all but begged on Tuesday that we follow the safety protocols deemed necessary, as I really enjoyed being there, but that if things did not change, I was prepared to walk out. Today, I informed them that I could no longer come in, effective immediately, as they were still not doing it, and were treating it like a big joke.
I think that you have recourse if you report this. I don't remember who you call, but you are basically working in an unsafe workplace and should receive some sort of compensation.
(since remainder will be deleted anyway, I'll just go ahead and do it myself)
