Fat Tuesday. Forgot about it being today. Never was nuts about them like so many others, but for all intersted, I asked Brunhilda to keep 'em coming. Paczkis for all!
Quiet day at w*rk today (so far). I'll take it. Lots of catching up to do. Take care guys!

Happy Mardi Gras, everyone. I wish I was there. Instead, I'm here for a normal day with cold winds and some snow predicted.
Early morning, Mardi Gras, years ago. Just getting ready to walk the neutral ground on St. Charles, heading down town. We spent several evenings making the costumes at the school's art classrooms using the silk screen setup.
Since this is a railroad forum, those lines overhead are the streetcar power lines.
Well, the forcasted blast is missing us, heading through most of central IL. That's fine with me! Now it's maybe 2" or less. Much better than the original 7" - 12" !
I like Kate Cambell. Thanks for the songs. I'll have to check that out. I could sit and listen to that stuff all day. I still have a crush on EmmyLou Harris!
Happy belated Birthday Ken,
Down to the layout room today, along with some errands. The Christmas stuff is sitting in a pile in the train room, as, at the time, my knee thing wouldn't allow me to put it all away.
Plus, I received a little dock side switcher, I think it's a Mehano, and a Bachmann 6 wheel plymouth, from my SIL. There is also 2 F7's with HobbyTown drives I want to get running. It was his stuff when he was a kid.
I really have no place for any of these on my current layout, but, I thought the dockside and plymouth would be good keepers. After all, all of your guys seem to have one or both!!
The F7s I'll give back, as he wants to sell the track, cars, and a real nice MRC power pack. It's a goldish color metal case, and looks like new.
He like his wargamming stuff, I forget exactly what the correct name is for the figures he has, but he's going to set up some track, and run the F7's through is game set up, take pics, for an Ebay sale.
Maybe I could take an F7 shell, and bash it into something that fits his game figures.
Oh....wait... I have too many projects right now.
That's a cool figure, Kevin, I swear I knew a gal like that, back in the day...
Off to other things, have a great Tuesday, wait, it's Fat Tuesday, right? The locals here really like their Paczki's. It's a Polish thing, but fits in with Fat Tuesday. I don't know the whole tradition.
Later,
Mike.

Continuing with packing up the workshop...
I found this figure with paint damage. This is heartbreaking. This Naga Lord figure is a multi-prize-winner, and one or the best figures I ever painted. Now I find it has paint damage to her left wrist and the wing.
She was in the display case like this.
I'll bet one of my daughter's idiot boyfriends somewhere along the way picked her up for a better look and dropped it.
I hope there is not much more of this to be found.

Living the dream.

Hi moelarrycurly4,
Congratulations to your wife!! I hope she wins!

I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
Heartland Division CB&QDave .... It is pronounced Rat Hole.
Thanks Garry.
That is an unfortunate name for a very interesting railroad division. I'll bet the tourism guys who were promoting the area had a nightmare with it.
York1 moelarrycurly4 We did go see Kate Campbell Friday night at a house concert. Now that I would have loved. Love her song, "See Rock City". Like all her music.

She was really good. The wife and she may collaberate on a small project in the future. She may come and hang with us when we go to teh Juke Joint festival in MS in April. See Rock City is one of my favorites as well

I did nothing special for mine either ( last Thursday), I was on call. We did go see Kate Campbell Friday night at a house concert. A house concert is what it sounds like a concert at someone's house. It was just Kate with a guitar and and amp and her songs and stories.
For those unfamiliar with Kate

Ahhhhh yes. The Panzerkampfwagen IV H. One of my favorite "toys" in World of Tanks.
Remember, ALWAYS load HE. ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS.

I'm beginning to realize that Windows 10 and sound decoders have a lot in common. There are so many things you have to change in order to get them to work the way you want.
Happy birthday, Ken! It's special for the rest of us to have you as a friend on the forum!
When you get to my age, just having a birthday is something special.
Happy birthday Ken

Did nothing speical for my birthday. Sue wanted to go out to eat but I was not up to it. That and the fact I am all most broke after paying bills. Do not want to use any of my credits cards unless I can pay it back that day. I only use them for the cash back.
Later Ken and Dirk says Happy Birthday Daddy Woof, Woof!

Post Hog Post Hog.
You know what? Shame on me. The reason I'm laid up is my own dam fault.
I have been working for this guy that pays me more than what I charge my own customers.
Two years ago going into it, I told him I had limitations of the types of work I can do that came directly from my orthopedic surgeon. My surgeon told me if I did the things he told me not to do, I would have a problem again.
I could have left the job and told THE MAN I was subbing for to send me a kid to help and then I would continue.
When you have a kid leapfrogging your step ladders, you can stay up there instead of up and down. I knew I could not do that twelve foot up multiple step ladder work in that big warehouse.
My knee is recovering day by day now and it will recover as it has to. I will not be doing any other knee surgeries.
I will not be going back to work for THE MAN that pushed me too hard. But I do realize the consequences I am facing now are my own dam fault.
As soon as my knee gets back to a usable condition. I will be going back to my independent self-employment again.
Sorry, I really needed to vent. Thanks for listening.
SeeYou190 Wow, it just occured to me that I am unemplyed for this Spring Break coming up... I think I will be spending a lot of time with the college kids on the beach.

Now Kevin, ... Why did I not doubt you for a minute after I read that statement? You're a card and I would be right down there with you if I could. I find myself asking myself every year if I should grow up this year. The answer in my head is always the same.
Naaaaaaah, ... Not Today!!!
York1Another thing about Mardi Gras -- most people who have not been there have an image of lewdness as seen on MTV.
People have the same non-genuine lewd image of Spring Break in Florida.
Track fiddlerI invite you all to have a piece of King Cake with me before the party's over.
Thanks. I have only had genuine King Cream Cheese Cake twice in my entire life, and it is wonderful.
mbinsewi I have more old floppy disc than you have beads, TF
I have more old floppy disc than you have beads, TF
That is now debatable Mike. I just got three more sets of beads on my King Cake for a grand total of.............
I know it's not Fat Tuesday yet but if Judy and I polish off this cake between today and tomorrow IT WILL BE
I talked Judy out of Cowboys. I haven't had a beer in a week, per doctor's orders. He said no Mardi Gras beverages while I'm healing And that takes the cake, no pun intended
I invite you all to have a piece of King Cake with me before the party's over.
P.S. Funny, if you look on the upper left of the cake you can see the baby. In Minnesota they don't bake it in the cake because if you choke on it the lawyers would eat the bakery for breakfast
mbinsewiParty on! you Mardi goers! Oh...wait...so...the 25th, Tuesday is the last day? Been going on since Jan 6th ? WOW what a party!
Another thing not seen by many people --
At midnight Tuesday (Wednesday morning), Mardi Gras officially ends. The mounted police line their horses up, side by side, at one end of Bourbon Street, and slowly walk the entire street. It forces everyone off the street!

Over the past several days, I have officially claimed the title of Post Hog. Please, someone take it back so I can work on the layout again instead of writing posts.
I just did a Endymoin class .101 He chose an interesting final destiny.
The Dixie Beer! YES, now your talkin' my language
I have more old floppy disc than you have beads, TF. Some have a lot of good info and pictures. My latest computer does not have a drive anymore, so I found a great deal on a external Dell floopy disc drive. I pulled the trigger, and I can't wait to start going through the many floopy disc storage boxes I have.
Good thing it's still winter! My only time for all this.
Party on! you Mardi goers! Oh...wait...so...the 25th, Tuesday is the last day? Been going on since Jan 6th ? WOW what a party!
Glad I'm not cleaning up after that one! BUT, you just might find some goodies..
Not just your grandfather's Dixie beer...

mbinsewiI'm glad it worked. I've spent too much time working on step ladders. As long as someone is standing on the ladder, for stability, and nobody bumps into it, I guess you made it work.
The kids were never in the box without an adult standing on the bottom steps, and another adult holding it. In all my years seeing thousands of these, I never saw a ladder tip over or kids fall off.
drcieselUnfortunately, this has been a rather somber Carnival season in NOLA as two people have tragically died after being run over by floats.
Unfortunately, this is not uncommon. I don't know the situation with these two, but normally they involve people who have had too many adult beverages deciding to try to get to beads or doubloons under a float.
Another thing about Mardi Gras -- most people who have not been there have an image of lewdness as seen on MTV. Except for several blocks in the French Quarter, the entire Mardi Gras celebration is family-friendly. My kids loved it.
My church, which was on the parade route, has a big celebration each year, with food and bathrooms. We loved it.
Track fiddlerA while back we had a couple garbage bags full of these dumb beads. It's amazing how people go nuts for insignificant hunks of plastic. I guess that's the fun of it though.
That's a nice Endymion clock! We, too, still have bags of beads and doubloons in the basement. I had to fight hard for them, I don't want to just throw them away!
Edit: Top of the Page! King Cake and a Dixie Beer for everyone.
