Thank You

I was just getting ready to send a note to MR about Tim Dodge and his constant 'advertising' that train show on the forum. It appears that his thread has been deleted - Thanks!
I have no problem with a 'plug' for a train show, or even a manufacturer announcing a new product. The problem is when we see constant 'updates' from the sender, and multiple threads(one for each session). The key here is to make an announcement and drop it. What happened was similar to eHobbies and those fake 'I just got a great deal' posts on rec.models.railroad a few years ago. I have basically left that newsgroup as it is unmoderated, and is full of cross-posts/spam/flame wars....I was starting to wonder if MR was really watching this forum, but it seems they do watch it .

Talk about "Hey guys I just bought this great toy on this site and it is so cool ! And they had free shipping... blah blah" kinds of messages.
That's why I always look how many posts that person had. If it is some newbie with only 2 posts then I know 100% it is advertorial. Not sure if what they do is legal but it is clearly unethical and I know where not to shop.

Hey Big Al, I rushed right out and Bought the entire Kato catalog of trains for $199.00 from your connected website. Should I hold my breath waiting for it to arrive, or keep working on my existing layout ? Also they threw in a free DCC system, it will be out soon. The best yet they say.

Well since you asked ,you know I just bought this great HO loco at www.ripuoffandopen.com and it had
[LONG LIST OF FEATURES COPIED FROM PRODUCT DESCRIPTION PAGE

and they shipped it for cheap because
[CUT AND PASTE OF SITE SHIPPING POLICY]

and all my friends go and shop on that website, and hey I am just a kid, and like to share good deals with other people, not that I am that site owner or anything.
So anyway you can call that site toll-free 1-888-IAM-SUCKER Mon-Fri 8am-5pm
and yeah, cool, so that site roks :)

I agree with Jrbernier and I have occaisionally posted a "good deal" or a really strange oddball item that is not very common, but I never reveal the seller, price(unless I got a brass engine for $12.00) or other details, I don't believe this forum is for flogging off old train stuff. Although,a site that would allow trading or selling would be nice( I know, this has some built-in problems) as discussed before.
