I'm familiar with cardstock cars. Don't have any on the layout, though. Don't have any knob-and-tube wiring in the house or vacuum tubes in my computer, either.
These have all earned their respective places in history, though.
Show me a bulk-commodity car.

More oldies but goodies?
Heartland Division CB&QPlease show your oldest era rolling stock.
I believe the most ancient piece of rolling stock to be seen on STRATTON & GILLETTE rails is this boxcar belonging to the ALABAMA & ANGEL HILLS railroad.
I do not know the exact prototype, but judging by the deep side sills, double sheathed construction, and 36 foot length, I would guess it is from around 1900 or so.
This was built from a Westerfield kit, and features AB brake updates, but you can't see them behind the side sills. This is the only deep side sill kit I have that I added brake detail to. Why model what you can't see?
Again...Please show your oldest era rolling stock... Thank you.
Passenger cars in my 1900 era scene have truss rods..... Hard to see in the photos, but they do. ... The rest of my layout is 1950's and early 1960's.
Please show your oldest era rolling stock.
