The Money Train was an interesting aspect of the subway system.
The cat is named 'Token' and lives in the Transit Museum. She seems to have come in one afternoon and adopted the place. Even if the staff did not feed her, the rodent population would sustain her very well.
The money train stopped running once tokens were discontinued. Vending Machines taking cash or cards were serviced by a crew from an armored truck. One mechanic to service the machine and two SWAT-looking officers with long guns to protect the operation.

We had a record store here in ther 1980s that was adopted by a cat that just wandered in one day and never left.

Looks like a female version of my Elwood, similar coloring, grey with the white chest and mittens.
We have a "money train" on the club layout. Ore hoppers (the shorty ones) full of 'gold' (coal load painted gold) with a pair of soldiers on each car, plus a few flat cars in the train with tanks and APCs. Unfortunately I have no pictures of it.

Some time ago they made a movie about the Money Train in NYC. It was not a great movie by any means, but I watched it for the subway train scenes. I would not waste my time seeking it out.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.

Can it be interchanged with the NWP-SWP? Specifically have it swing by my house? I could do plenty if it did!

The original version of that movie was OK. I never saw the new version from a couple of years ago.

Yep it was called "Money Train". It was made in 1995 and starred Woody Harrelson and Wesley Snipes. Is it a one hundred percent accurate depiction of light rail operations? Nope, most likely not. It was an action movie and 99.99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999% of the movie going public wouldn't care. Basically it was the typical 1990s "DieHard on a (blank)" style action film.
There was also a horror movie called "Midnight Meat Train," set in the NYC subway system. I tried to watch it, again for the subways, but it was so bad I turned it off.

Mr. Beasley - You say that the original (Taking of Pelham 123) was not a great movie?! It was a classic! (then again I'm from that era, I loved riding those old trains). The remake was a G_d awful piece of s__t. Oh, by the way, bless you... (movie reference).

I grew up in New York and remember the money train well. Saw it many times. Interesting train. The windows had HEAVY wire mesh welded over them so one could brake in.
