.
I just used my last drop of Floquil Engine Black.
I thought I stashed away a lifetime supply.

Or if Your prefer, Model Master Acrylic Engine Black.....Testers made quite a few Floquil Railroad colors into their MM line. I've used it and still have Floquil Engine black....looks to be a dead ringer to My eye:

Tamiya also makes an Acrylic black very close to it, if not dead on in their Military colors. Use them also...
Take Care!

I have had good luck with Scalecoat 1 and TruColor as my stash of Floquil is being used up. Also the Model Master acrylics seem to be more user friendly than the old Polyscale line. I am using more laquer thinner for cleaning the airbrush than mineral spirits

What is a good match for Floquil Grimy Black?
Model Master Grimy Black or Tamiya German Gray.
Cool!I went to the hobby shop yesterday and bought some German Gray along with semi gloss black and flat white!
I have recently started to use Testor's Model Master Grimy Black and it is a good substitute for the stuff made by Floquil.
Thanks! The German Gray is a near perfect match.
Don't forget that the Canadian company that made Polly-Scale paint for Testors now makes ProtoPaint for Rapido. Grimy Black is in their catalog (330008).https://rapidotrains.com/proto-paint/
Differences: railroad colors are glossy (weathering colors are still flat), it smells better, and you don't have to thin it for airbrushing.
oh heck, when I saw the title:

You might want to check out Micro-Mark. As part of their MicroLux paint line they have some weathering paints that are custom blended to Floquil PollyScale color chip samples. They also use the same names for their colors.
Thanks!
The thing that absolutely amazes me was how much ENGINE BLACK I went through. I think I had about two dozen bottles in my hoard.
I still have maybe a dozen unopened bottles of Floquil Railroad Colors in assorted colors. Engine Black was the one I needed the most of, the one I had the most of, but my "lifetime" supply ran out in about a decade.
