How Do, Guys!

I havent been in cause I've been out of work.

I became a statistic as yet another person with a confirmed case of the flu! So I was out of work for a week. SO not at the computer, I DO have a computer at home, but I hate using it, and posting while at work gives me something to do for a while.

Mr. Otte was kind enough to connect me with a tech person, who did call me, but I was out, and the hours she gave me I wasn't home. Then when I was home, running a temp of 102.4 and taking Tamiflu, I was NOT in the mood to call her. Mr. Otte, kindly tell her I will give her a call, probably next week when I have time and hopefully she will be in. Thanks, Mr. Otte.

Work, to quote Ken. now sucks rail spikes, as all are checked in for the night. I have 2.15 hours to go, Bored as H-E-double hockey sticks!

My OH brought valentines dinner to me here, as I had tgo work, so no going out. I have threer nights in a row.

A secondary infection set in while I had the flu, so now I have a bad cold, but cannot afford to take any more time off form work, and we are short-handed.

My r knee has torn ligamnets, and it is killing me, I have been walking funny to avoid the sharp pains in the knee, so my calf and thigh muscles are revolting being used in an odd manner. I had to spend 2 days in bed to let it rest, just so I could come here and stand for three nights in a row. I can barely do 3 in a row on a good day, but wiht cold and bad leg, is tougher.

I get a knee shot next week, supposed to have gotten one during the week with the flu, but could not go, was absolutely MISERABLE. And yes, I had the flu shot, but at only 10% effective, its basically no good. Also, just because Ive now had the flu, doesn't mean I can't get another strain. Only, what 6 more weeks of winter? I hope I am done with flu and this second cold for this winter.

well, thopught Id better check in. Its time to go lock the pool for the might and do the once over on the registration cards in the file folder to be sure is all kosher. That'll keep me bus a whole 10 minutes, If that. Then 2 hours of bordom left, unless someone comes in as late check in with no reservation.

Hope all is well, thoughts and prayers for those who need them.

Night all,

The abandon tunnels and grades is an interesting subject.

Humm now how do I quarter wheels?

Hey, Ken.

You have mentioned quartering wheels several times in recent replies. I have to ask, why do you think the wheels are out-of-quarter?

IF the siderods and the crank pins all line up, everything is quartered. The wheels are pressed on to the axles pretty tight. If nothing serious happened to make them spin on the axle there shouldn't be any reason to have to quarter the wheels.

Maybe I'm missing something???

[edit] OK, maybe I am missing that you have to pull the drivers of the Y6b so you can change the gear! Dunce NOW I get it!

Tell the missus Happy Birthday from all of us Happy B-Day

Nice touch on the roses, too! Cool  Wilted Flower

Galaxy! Good to see you back in the Diner Smile

Good morning diners,

Thought I'd stop in before hitting the sack...

I was browsing the interwebs this evening and stumbled upon the fact that currently a Tesla Roadster complete with astronaut stand-in is hurdling through the vacuum of space!!! I am now convinced Elon Musk is the Howard Hughes of the 21st century... Laugh

I wonder if they have Sir Eltons "Rocket Man" in the CD player?Laugh

Well that's all for tonight, over and out!

.

Supposedly it is actually playing Space Oddity by David Bowie.

.

But since we all learned decades ago "In Space, No One Can Hear You Scream", it really does not matter what is coming through the speakers.

Good morning all !

I got the day off because it's RAINING ! Only in Arizona would everybody take the day off and hide inside because they dont want to get wet !

I was born and raised in the Willamett Vally Oregon .... I laugh at the drizzle currently falling on my head, but apperently .3 inche's of rain is enough to shut down the southern part of the state ! Oh well..... now I have to do what the wife want's ..... for the rest of the  day...... Somebody "PLEASE" drop a big rock on my head !

Rick : Year's ago, I worked in a small hot dog stand.

I had a customer order a chilidog. When I gave it to him, he got mad because there was chili on it! Well... OK .... so I made one "WITHOUT" chili on it. He procceded to go into a rant about how he was paying for a chilidog and it has to have chili on it... so I made him ANOTHER chilidog ! Then he got really mad at me and started to call me name's and said I was stupid and couldnt follow direction's ...... so I THREW THE CHILIDOG IN HIS FACE !!!!  And them told him "it's free dont come back" ! Man, that felt GOOOOOOD!!!

Hope you all are having a good day, I may be back in later..... for a "stiff belt" of something harder than coffie .

Rust...... It's a good thing !

Good afternoon Diners,

Brunhilda, I'll have an extra large coffee with lots of cream, please.

The Winter Olympics have not disappointed.  There has been plenty of action, drama, and triumph as well as heartbreak.

Little Tim:  Your chili dog story reminded me of a hot dog stand in LA.  It was/is called Art's Famous Chili Dogs.  Oddly enough, I never went there.  Not a good neighborhood even back in the 70's.  However, Art had claimed to have invented the chili dog - a claim disputed by other vendors.  However, the chili dog was probably invented in the LA area.  Anyway, your story made me hungry for one.  There was also a hamburger place in the Valley called Tommy's that made chili cheeseburgers.  They were very messy, but very tasty.

Thats all I have for the moment.

Hello to everyone, and I hope everyone is OK, safe, and warm.

Less is more,...more or less!

Afternoon diners,

I got an email from one of my clubs that one of the members whom I personally know has suffered heart failure and cannot breath on his own, he has been admitted to the hospital and is on a ventilator, he had suffered a heart attack a few weeks ago, underwent triple bypass surgery and has been in recovery, the outlook is not good, please keep him in your thoughts and prayers, thank you kindly!

That's all I have to say for now....

However, the chili dog was probably invented in the LA area.

.

Don't let anyone from Cincinatti hear you say that! They think they invented everything with the word "chili" in it.

.

Once saw a guy I knew from Texas almost go to fists with a guy from Cincinatti over where the best chili was made.

.

The Conch Fritter was invented in Florida! At least that is what we tell everybody.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chili_dog

In New Jersey and Pennsylvania, the "Texas hot dog", "Texas chili dog." "Texas hot'," or "Texas wiener" is a hot dog with chili or hot sauce; it is served in variations with assorted condiments. The Texas wiener was created in Paterson, New Jersey, before 1920[1] and in Altoona, Pennsylvania, by Peter "George" Koufougeorgas in 1918[2] and originally called Texas Hot Wieners. The "Texas" reference is to the chili sauce used on the dogs, which actually has a stronger Greek cuisine influence due to the ethnicity of the cooks who invented it.

There you have it... Patterson and Altoona, of all places.

I've seen reference to the Michigan "Coney Dog" and the only mention I came across of Texas was a Grand Prarie, TX, restaurant selling a "Michigan-Style" Coney Dog.

Cheers, Ed

 Afternoon Diners

Flo, the gang will have a Chile Dog and a Beer, I will just have a Beer while I love chile dogs my GL was high today! Give Steven and Rick a Chile Dog and what ever they want to drink. Yes Flo, leave a Stein outside for Ulrich. I will take care of the Stain! Smile, Wink & Grin

Steven Sorry to hear about your fellow club member. While it is sad we all have a given number of heart beats.

Wife is with our daugher for her Birthday. So after my running I had some Train Time.

Train Time Got my Atlas Silver Series B&O GP 38 off the RIP track! I have to say it was a waste of time! Bang Head Pulls as bad as I remember! Yes, it is quite and has good weight. If it hits a grade, it slooooow's down badly just like a Bachmann DCC On Board engine. The GP 38 has the dual mode decoder and it is Low End! My only Atlas Engine and I do not have a good taste in my mouth from it.

Does anyone in the dinner know how to Quater Steam Engines Wheels? Guess I will do a search on You Tube.

Evening Diners,

It's been raining for the past two days straight. It stopped a while ago but it's still continuing. I wonder it ROR is getting this rain?

I got a 1942 Erie Railroad boxcar for $18. At least it's better than paying close to or over $30.

Hello all. It's raining here.

Still raining.

Flooding everywhere.

Possible tornado caused major damage about 50 miles to the east.

Washington PA is under two feet of standing water.

So much rain and moisture, it's set off my "check engine light" On my car. My car has done this years ago after hitting a huge puddle.  I guess I just need to let it dry out, since my car is not acting any differently now.  i also need to check the club out tomorrow- mainstreet in front of the club building is flooded- thankfully we are on the second floor.

Hopefully everyone is doing well.

Why, yes we have. Mostly is has been a light rain, but has been a bit stronger at times. I am a bit bummed that I have commitments today and tomorrow—the mountain biking would be excellent these next couple of days after the rain. The trails get a little tacky and the bike's traction increases exponentially. Oh well.

I have been asked to complete a recorded video interview for an adjunct professor position. I am hoping it goes well. The course is a technical communications course, which is what I did as part of my job for my entire career. I have two weeks to complete it and I think I will complete it either Saturday or Monday as I head to Idaho on Tuesday.

For those of you that enjoy learning new things, I have found a gold mine, edX.org. It has tons of courses covering nearly anything you can think of, many provided by leading colleges and universities. I am taking a series of master-level courses from MIT on supply chain management. Recently, I decided I need to finally take a music theory course, and bingo, there is a course provided by the Berklee School of a Music. The best part? You can audit any of the courses for free.

Good morning ... I'll have coffee and a donut please.

Chili dogs .... Part of the time I worked in Detroit, I was in a building across the street from Lafayette Coney Island Restaurant.  I had an office with a window where I could watch coney dogs being prepared all day long. That restaurant along with their next door neighbor, American Coney Island, were very popular after a baseball game in the old Tiger Stadium. ... Also, there is a chain of restaurants called National Coney Island in the Detroit area that are popular.

In Cincinnati area, they have a couple of restaurant chains specializing in Cincinnati style chili dogs which are small sized hot dogs with chile and shredded cheese.

I think chili dogs are available anywhere now.

Good morning, Diners! For those who have been on a clear-liquids-and-Jello diet recently, here's today's breakfast special. Dig in.

SteveO, where was that picture taken, what restaurant? I might be making a road trip!

I just find these food pictures online, I don't shoot them. Sometimes they're from restaurants, sometimes from recipe websites. I'm not positive but I think that one is from Denny's.

Since someone mentioned Korean food, but not everyone can take kimchee, let's make today's lunch special Korean barbecue. Grab your tongs, this is grill-it-yourself.

And for those who don't like Korean barbecue, have a chili dog. Now with chili!

And for those who aren't hungry... what are you doing in a diner?! Laugh

Mornin' everyone!  (both of you...)

Ah, StevenO, how could anyone not like the Korean BBQ, I'll have that for lunch.  Uh, unless I can get the Chili Dog without any of that disgusting Chili! Whistling

Dark and gloomy here in the Finger Lakes Region of NYS this morning, but with a temperature of 38°F, so I won't complain about the lack of power on my roof.  The basement is filling with water due to the thawing and melting of the sn*w we had though.

Just got a call from my son a few minutes ago.  They have decided to have his MIL's birthday party tonight (evidentally that is when the most of the family can make it) so I need to get a few things done ASAP including some shopping and taking a mile walk over at the fieldhouse.  My weight is now holding steady at 232lbs. and I want to get some more tonage off before Easter.

Hello, Fellow Modelers—

Korean BBQ sounds great! Thank you Mr. Otte. I think I may try the Bulgogi and some Oi Bokkeum on the side.

You can keep the spicy, dried squid for yourselves, thank you!

Hey all.  Still wet and just nasty here.  Tons of flooding and landslides, and a confirmed EF1 tornado touched down last evening.  This weather has triggered my check engine light, but its just a sensor acting up again.  Well, nothing to do with that but wait until it dries out.  Oh well.
