A gas grille and a picnic table would look good back there. That rear truck probably has some serious wheelslip problems, though.....

I was thinking the same thing, but all the weight is STILL concentrated between the truck centers - fuel tank, and the diesel engine is right in the middle. The mostly empty space in the nose won't tilt the weight balance too far forward.

Is that a SD40-2 body mounted on a SD40T2 frame?

I did some research, and found that the unit was built as SP SD45T-2 9402, and given a long hood from a Southern geep.

Maybe it was originally a passenger engine with a steam generator in the rear that was removed and the bodywork modified accordingly?

I have heard that when SP 8507 was wrecked it was bought by a leasing company and rebuilt with an SD40-2 carbody. So there is probably another locomotive around that looks similar to this, although since it was built from an SD40T-2 instead of an SD45T-2 everything above the walkway would be about two feet further back from the front.

Also, 9402 was a Cotton Belt unit, built in 1975. It was still on the SP roster as of August 1990.

Who's up for a B-B-Que? Honestly though, I do like the party deck, but, it is a bit short to hold a good size crowd, with the picnic table and grill. Well, it could just pull one or two flats behind it, and TaaDaa, the first train on the Party Central!
