Comprehensive list of Loco manufacturers
Posted by passenger1955 on Thursday, May 4, 2017 2:17 PM

I'd like to put together a comprehensive list of locomotive manufacturers. All popular gauges. Can someone direct me to a resource please?

Do you want all ever? This would include Varney, Hobbytown, Etc.

.

Do you also want brass? This would include Sunset, Key, United, Etc.

.

If you just want current manufacterers, the index of manufacturers in the locomotive sections of the Walthers catalogues should get you well on your way.

.

Do you just want complete running locomotives, or do you want custom lomotive body shell manufacturers also?

.

About 15 years ago Model Railroader printed an HO scale locomotive roundup. Even with their resources it had a few omissions. That was just in one scale. It is even more complicated now.

Good starting point for N Scale on this site:  http://www.spookshow.net/trainstuff.html

For HO you could start here:  http://www.hoseeker.net/

I tried to sell my two cents worth, but no one would give me a plug nickel for it.

I don't have a leg to stand on.
