My grandson has a 4-year old Athern SW1500 which stopped working. Opening it up I saw that two of the four power leads from the trucks had broken. I disconnected the 8 light leads to fix. After reattaching, the lights don't work. Looking online it looks like the standard bulb is a 1.5v incandescent. When I measure the voltage on the two center leads of the internal board, it measures 3.0 volts. I don't want to mess with LEDs. So I am not sure what voltage bulb to try to get. Can someone explain if I should be looking for 1.5 or 3.0 volt bulbs and where I might get some? Also, there is a green control stand inside the cab. Best way to remove it to access rear bulbs? Thanks
Hi DanDanMan,
First, Welcome to the forums! Nice to have you on board!
The green control stand inside the cab is the cab interior, If that come out, set it aside. If the frame is off, gently pull the light bulb wire until it is out and then carefully pull the old bulb off and replace it. Then gently put the wire back in place until you see the bulbs come through. Then place the cab interior back into the cab and put the shell back on until it snaps in place.
Hope this helps!
Thanks ATSFGuy!
I was able to get the cab off. There are two tabs at the rear that allowed the whole cab to unsnap. Easy access to rear bulbs.
Now it is just a matter of finding some bulbs??
Welcome, DanDanMan, if you have the lights removed, you can test them with a AA battery, to see if they work. If you need to replace them, I would go with Miniatronic 1.5v lights. They are better quality and last longer.
