P2K locos

Just a quick question, was the P2K in the tan colored box an older run than the P2k blue box?  Did both have the gear problem?

Thanks,

Mike.

Mike,The tan box was the first P2K followed by the blue box and both could have gear issues. The fancier "Limited Edition" box didn't have the gear issue.

I'm not sure which box color came first, but you can expect gear problems with any of the GP 7, 9, 18, 20, 30s.  The very last production before Walthers take over may be OK, but I have owned dozens, and never bought one with good gears, unless the seller had replaced them. I even found cracked gears in a P1K F3.

Thanks guys, I wasn't sure.  Just watching a couple, not that I need anymore!

The brown boxes were indeed first, followed by thy blue.  I've only owned blue and red box (steam) Proto 2000s and have never had a cracked gear issue with either one.
