This week I recived a smal Walthers catalogue. Guess what was inside ? They have a section with different people doing different activities. Two of those activities is Some guys with a table with a model railroad on it and another section has some guys railfanning ! What a hoot ! Do any of you model either these on your Railraod already ?

Not in place yet, but will definitely be included; a single 1:80 scale gaijin with a camera hanging around his neck and a clipboard in one hand, wandering around the rail facilities in Haruyama.
Any resemblance to myself during my modeled month is purely coincidental. (Yeah. Right!)

Guys railfanning?
On my railroad the ladies know a thing or two about composition and f-stops, too!
I enjoy having little "human interest" vignettes on my layout. Visitors seem to enjoy spotting them.
Have Fun! Ed
possibly know what company made it?
Yes,I have wee folk railfans to show up from time to time on my ISL but, these railfans are not glued in place so I can remove them..

Mr Shay,
Noch made the figures & model layout...it has been out for some time. I believe they also make the rail fanners and that also has been out for awhile. A link to the model layout/people:

Preiser has Trainspotters....:

A friend of mine, who happens to be an NMRA Master Modeler, has a station on his layout. When you lift off the roof, in the second floor, the station is host to a model railroad club with a partly completed layout.........

Thanks for the replies. I love the photos. Does anyone else have examples of modelers modeling or railfanning on their MRR ?

Two instances, both on modular club layout. Neither is my work. 1 is a Railfan park photo here: http://www.mprr.org/module/mprrrailroadpark
It has camera flashes when trains run by.
The other is http://jimspavins.com/tributetospringfield/index
It has a photo of the interior of the Young Building taken during a previous years show, attached to the inside of the doors of the model of the Young building.
Custom layout builder Rick Fortin added a fantasy version of his shop to an HO layout we worked on together. An HO layout of an HO layout under construction can be seen through the open door.

Sorry I don't have a photo or a link to share, but at some point I have seen an HO layout with a Z (I think) layout at an amusement park.
An HO layout in HO scale would be pretty darn small, a 40' box car would be about 0.06" long. - Microscope please.
Have fun,
Richard

We have a 3D printed HO scale module on one of our corner modules... I forgot about that.

That is so neat. These examples of modeling "modeling" and the rail fanning ! It is amazing how clever many of these are !

It looks like Noch is on to the fun idea!

Why are the adults all wearing "nerd" glasses? You don't suppose...
Noch makes quite a variety of nice figures, including naughty ones! I need more people, in general, for finishing my station.
Ed, where are the photographers you had in an early post from?

Ed do you suppose they have "Z" scale running on that table ?
Hi, Mike
I mostly have Preiser figures, they make thousands, of course. I've been gathering them for years.
Some of my photographers are from set 10089:
https://www.reynaulds.com/products/Preiser/10089.aspx
The young lady with the camera is from the Wedding Guest set 10331 or the Birthday Party set 10554.
There's also a TV crew 10062 and film crew 10421 that could be "railfans".
Preiser actually has a railfan set but I think only one has a camera.
https://www.reynaulds.com/products/Preiser/10026.aspx
I probably bought most of them from MB Klein (sometimes they have a sale and/or additional discount) others I've gathered from train shows or hobby shops.
Hope that helps,
Ed
Thanks Ed. I got to get populating! Maybe I'll put a "Free land / Free Beer" sign out at the highway, and see if I can attract some people.

I plan on buying the Noch figures but the model railroad is not exactly what I would prefer but it's a start. It seems to be an example of the typical European 4'x6' layout instead of the standard 4'x8' American 'Plywood Pacific' layout.
I am going to try to make a custom L shaped layout to fit into a HO scale garage. Also a G scale garden layout or maybe a live steamer. (Just day dreaming)
There are some pictures on my old thread about models of model layouts but some of the links are old.

Although I don't have any figures. I recently bought several automobiles.
I'm hoping to get some probably next month or next.

Angel- what vehicles did you buy ?
Lonewolf - why is the STD European 4x6 ? That seems an odd size
Mike - better LOOK OUT ! Oh my gosh hear come a herd of people for free beer !
Ed - great photo ! What is load on the flat car ? Can't tell from my phone screen .

It is one of those SQ8 mini cameras. I took the photo to post in a thread a few weeks ago to show the relative size of it when there was a bit of a discussion about mini-cameras.
