Galaxy,

YGW is not the only person who shares that sentiment--Quite frankly, I don't care what you do to whom, how often, or on what day. Some things Gentlemen do not discuss on a forum of this type--if you feel the need, there are many other places to do this, or PM a confidant of your choosing. I really don't see the need for my grandchildren to be exposed to this. Several of us have had paths as difficult, or harder, to trod as we went through life, and do not feel the need to discuss it with people who are unknown entities. One of my wives, had two friends, the band, and the baseball team, nuf' said, so you are not the only one to have had challanges.

You will do, what you will do--I do not have to condone it--

Thank you for all the kind thoughts on my knee.  It's only been 2 days since the cortisone shot, and it's already feeling better.  Looks like I can play hockey on Tuesday.

My orthopedic surgeon used to play hockey.  He told me about a night that he played (at the same rink as I do) and he and another player crashed into the boards.  He was fine, but the other player left in pain.  The doctor was on call that night, and sure enough, he got called in at midnight to do some emergency surgery "on a hockey player."

I'm still working on the rock face covering the front of my staging yard.  It's done with Bragdon foam castings, which are very light and also produce the nicest results of anything like this I've seen.  Yesterday I finished cutting up the castings and gluing them to the foam board, and today I coated them with Gesso, an art product that acts like a primer coat for art canvases.

This is one of the four sections, sitting below a cardstock mockup of a church I plan to scratch-build one of these days.  The foam has been cut up and assembled to foam board.  I think it's been covered with Gesso, too, but the casting resin sets up white, so it's hard to tell.

It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.

Ahhhh???  I would third or fourth that as well.  There are some parts of one's personal lives that really shouldn't be aired on a Model Railroad Forum.....

I have been getting everything ready so that I can take off for the weekend and be at "Ops" 'til You drop Weekend in Syracuse, NY.  I'll be doing operations at 3 different model layouts totalling 12 hours Saturday and Sunday.  Hope to have fun!  I have al;so been dealing with all kinds of interesting items concerning the move of my NMRA Division from the NFR Region to the NER Region.  The items are mostly ongoing and will take some time to get done.  In the midst of that The R&GV RR Museum is going to start up for the Season with "Easter Bunny Trains on Saturday the 15th. of April with Hands On Training the Saturday before.  I also need to get the next newsletter done and out for the Division.  I'm hoping our new website will be up and running then so I don't have to spend as much time emailing everyone with the pdf attached to it....

Easter will be a busy day with church, then dinner out with my sister, followed by Dinner in at my son's house right after that.  My sister gets very upset that everyone doesn't stop all their family traditions and just celebrate these important days (she isn't a believer) the way she thinks it should be done.  So we compromise to keep peace in the family......  Also been busy with MLK committee work that had to get done.  Invites to our Scholarship Dinner should have gone out today and because the printer was late getting them done, then I had to print out the addresses on the envelopes, they will get mailed out on Monday....

Spent part of today chauffeuring my son around as his car had to go in for some repairs.  Took him to the Credit Union, then to my house to go over all the instructions for him (he is taking care of the kitties and starting the siphon down cellar for the weekend), and then to his house.  This afternoon I get a call asking if I would be kind enough to drive him back to the repair shop to pick up his car as his better half was going to be an hour late coming home from work.  They are going out on a "dinner date" tonight as their daughters are going somewhere with their grandmother.

Best get back into packing mode!  Prayers for all in need!  Stay dry and warm....

 Evening Diners

Flo, Ed and I will have a Beer please.

My store finished Last places this month. Sigh That sure lifted my sprits. Sad

Galaxy Don't think the diners are ganging up on you. But I am a little surprised Steve did not sick Vinney after you. If you just left it as Speical Friend and that your wife could not say anything about I think you would have been fine.

Took a long time for you to get back in the fold and hope you stay here! Hope you open the Dinner is April!

Hum, April 1st. I enlisted in the Army on April Fool's Day a long long long time ago. Smile, Wink & Grin

Good Evening,

It is still March in my neck of the woods. I can happily report that the snow is largely gone. Now we have to assess the damage done to some shrubs by a rabbit in the winter. I would have put more screen around the shrubs but was 'in disposed' for most of the winter. Oh well, just hope enough stems weren't chewed to kill the bush.

I had a Doc visit this week too for my 6 month glaucoma check and everything is stable with no sign of progression so the drugs are working.

I have been running my HO PK2 0-8-0. It sure is a smooth running engine, nearly as smooth as the 0-6-0. Life Like sure did make nice engines, very well detailed too.

Not much else to report here. My wife is slowly editing that massive photo download we did this week. She is deleting a lot but it is slow going as she is modifying photos as she goes, mainly just cropping or straightening . Got a great photo of a Martial Eagle, one of the largest eagles in the world. They weigh about 10 lbs. and can take small antelope. Wish one was here to get a rabbit dinner. Come to think of it, the local Great Horned Owl was sleeping on the job.

See you in April,

CN Charlie

Congratulations! I'm sure that was very rewarding. How about posting the picture?

For the birders among us, Point Pelee has just had a major fire in the marsh area. It consumed about 125 hectares. For those who don't know, that is a good thing. The fire will rejuvenate the marsh and hopefully allow some native species to return. It didn't take out the boardwalk fortunately but it came pretty close. The Park staff and the local fire departments were able to protect the boardwalk and the cottages close by.

Point Pelee is one of the most important bird and butterfly migration points in the world.

Dave

I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
