Upcoming Genesis FEF3 #844 to Feature LokSound and Actual 844 Sounds
Posted by peahrens on Saturday, December 3, 2016 2:12 PM

Someone alerted on the LokSound yahoo user group that a next version of the FEF3 will include LokSound decoder (and LEDs).  The website info shows an announcement of Nov 2016 and "due late October", which I take to mean 2017.  The info states that sounds of the 844 were recorded Oct 2016.

I have a Genesis 844 from around 2013, with Tsunami sound and, I think, LED lights.  I do not see the sound file shown as available yet, but presume it will become available for the Select as other "manufacturer" files.  I'll be excited to revamp to a Select with improved motor control and while at it will add a capacitor.  My grandson (and I) will get a kick out of knowing that the sounds are the actual 844, as we chased it twice here in Texas.

I think that's great news!

Matt Herman is doing an excellent job at ESU. I understand the sounds for the upcoming Alco FA were recorded in Australia from one of the few, if not the only, 12-244s that has not had extensive modifications, a New South Wales 40-class.

I recently installed a Loksound Select in a Proto 2000 2-10-2 and installed the currently available Steam sound project for it. Not so great, but I'm not worried since I can replace it with new steam sound projects as ESU makes them available Yes I had heard others mention that Loksound was making improvements in their steam files. I wonder if Matt recorded the 765 or any other operating locomotives?

Regards, Ed
