To All,
Well now that I have been feeling better.....I found time to finish what I started a few weeks ago, some semi's that I had discussed with Rich, with an added bonus of some backdrop pic's from an experiment.
The trucks started out as CMW models...R190 Tractors, one trailer and a Walthers Scenemaster trailer. Stripped of all paint, I bashed (with a big whammer) one of the tractors into a tandem, with brass c-channels, tube and styrene. Added mirrors on both sides, with etched metal ones from a Sylvan kit. Trailer from CMW was stripped of the oversize marker lights, mudflaps and added scale size mudflaps, ICC bar and strut supports for landing gear. The Scenemaster trailer ribs were shaved off the sides to better handle the decals. Suspension was completely redone to accept A-Line wheels and tires. Scratched ICC bar out of brass 1/16 c-channel, scale mudflaps and also strut supports made out of brass rod for landing gear. Painted with Model Master Fire Red enamel for tractors and Tamiya flat Aluminum, flat Metallic Grey and semi-gloss Black for tractor/trailer frames. Decals are thin self stick vinyl custom made by Graphics on Demand.
Any critique is welcome!
Take Care!
Frank
Hi Frank,
Just spotted this thread.
Hope you are feeling better.
Outstanding work on the trucks, and I love your use of the Erie Freight House photo as a backdrop. Of course, the Lifschultz facility at Dearborn was attached to the Erie Freight House.
Here is an aerial view of the facility shot from one of the upper floors of the nearby Beatrice Foods building. You can see the row of Lifschultz trucks parked adjacent to the railroad tracks at the 15th Street turn.
Also, I have included a photo of the facility immediately following the close of Dearborn Station in 1971.
I can see that it will cost me some big money to try and wrestle those Lifschultz trucks out of your hands once I start the Dream Layout.

Hi Rich,
Nah! They won't cost You an arm & leg.......maybe a golf outing..
Just make sure You catch Me while I'm still around...the way I've been feeling lately, gets Me wondering..LOL
Those Lifshultz pic's are from 28th St. in NYC....I liked them mainly for the Chgo, Milwaukee on the sign.

Where did you come up with those decals?
That is simply an awesome job of detailing on those trucks.

Rich,
Graphics on Demand,
I had asked Her months ago if She could come up with them....She welcomes new idea's and sometimes only asks that She can print them for other's to buy. She took over the business from Her Dad who passed away some time ago. I deal with them for quite a few yr's. Here's the link:

Bear,
LOL.... I really have only one word to describe Your post ''Brilliant'', we'll get that ''golfer'' yet!
Thanks also for Your kind words....
Also the experiment started out as a 2''x3'' photo trying to get it close to scale while enlarging it, on My printer into a 8.5''x11'' to piece together. A wide angle shot/photo of the whole area would have been better, in color. Those shots look a lot better on My computer in 1080p...or in person. The MRR site doesn't reproduce in 1080p in images to My knowledge.......and then Your system would also have to reproduce in 1080p. Then the camera plays a big part......but for a backdrop, it does a good job and no reflections without it being glossy.

The trucks started out as CMW models...
Great job Frank, I never tire of seeing your trucks.
Jim
Thank You Jim......Good to hear from You!
Hope all is Well.
I have a few more of some fallen flag truck lines that I finished.....but I'll wait awhile...don't want to stir up the Model Railroad police. LOL
Very nice work Frank, as you likely remember I'm into trucks as well with my piggyback fleet.
Take care, stay well.
Sheldon
Sheldon,
I would also like to Thank You for Your kind words! I also know about Your piggyback set-up.....I too have/had a large Intermodal facility on another section of the layout, but that has been sectioned out and given to My Younger Son's two boy's who are still very young and are more into RC vehicles...trains in the winter. I am helping them set it up, but He lives far from Me in another state, but yet, works only 3 miles from My house at the CSX Intermodal yard as a Yardmaster. He too is getting tired of traveling back and forth to work...takes over an hour and a half both ways. He only has to do it 3days one week and 4days the next week, but it does get tiresome after awhile. He has been wanting to quit.....but I keep talking Him out of it. He only need's 2 more yrs. for a full 20yr. Railroad retirement and He'll be 39.....He would be foolish in My opinion to quit and give up 78,000 a yr. and 90/10 insurance for His family. He already has two other business's of His own, but You just can't beat a pension check every month when You retire.....I know that for a fact having a Teamster pension for 25yrs of service for a couple of Truck Lines I worked for.
I also have a small piggyback ramp on another section of the layout which is themed for 50's/60's era, but that portion of the layout is still being redone. I'll have to take some pic's of it when I get around to it. But as You know...You won't see very many fallen flag common carrier truck line trailers running piggback...that's a big no no back then....it would wipe out their profit for the load. Back then the only time You would see that is when the trailer was overloaded to the point that it would cost them more in man hours to correct it than to ship it by rail....been there, done that! Could tell You all kinds of stories about that, more than I want to type.......
Very nice. Trucks are a favorite part of my model railroad hobby too.
