Not the ones on the entertainment center. They are too small. (They are only four dots wide.) The ones that run are sitting on a bookshelf in my bedroom. I also have an engine and an observation car on my nightstand and a tree freight car sitting on the arm of my couch.
The ones on YouTube I think run on the newer remote control system. The ones I have use an electric truck system. (Only two power trucks per pack and four cars per set of power trucks.) I could convert them if I wanted, but other projects keep getting in the way.
I will have a Plain hamburger and a side of fries please.
What a day trying to do some work on things. First was drilling out the headlight cast into a metal boby with a 3/32 drill manged to break it about 3/4 done. It is broke in side the body so cant grab it with anything not sure how i am going to get it out.
Then i went to paint a covered hopper bottom with some blue paint, second time i put the brush in the bottle i spill it all over table, the chair, on the shorts i had one, both legs, the floor, the wall, even the bottom of the table, how it got on the bottom i have no idea. So now have to buy some more of that paint. I decided then that was enough train work for one day lol.

If you take out the "=red" after the name and just type [ /color ] it will come out like you want. Like this... Rob. Hope that makes sense to you!
I got home from a Scout District committee that wouldn't end tonight (had a presenter on fund raising that has a 10 minute training for us but he rambled on for over 50 minutes saying absolutely nothing....) to find a heavy box on my porch. UPS eveidently was running late today and I had left before they arrived. Opened the box (I was expecting it) and found my son's birthday present to me inside. He got me a Cripple Creek EVSE 240v Charging Station for the Volt. Totally cool!!! This will let me charge to car twice as fast as the 110 curcuit can. Also should save me a few ¢ per charge as well. He told me it was complicated and to call him when it arrived... Nothing really complicated about it. I will need to have my electrician come over and change the dedicated circuit on the porch to 240v (that is simple as there are already the wires nessessary to do that in the line I am using now). He may tell me to bill him for it, I think. Very cool... I will most likely be the first person in the neighborhood to have a dedicated 240v charger for a car... These things are a bit expensive also even though the price has gone down for them. This one is only a 16 amp dedicated charger but runs about $400 with tax..... Pretty nice birthday present I think. It should let me use less gasoline over the life of the car, which is what I want to do!

Did some running today, got the hated house payment made to BOS. Bought a medium duty paper shredder from Wally World and that pretty much sums up my day.
Gary Rolling stock I enjoy the most are the junk Bachmann and Tyco cars I bought before I knew better. When I first joined this site one of the trolls here told me I was wasting my money and time buying used worn out stuff off E-Bay. I learned a lot from that cheap worn out junk! My answer to him was " I need to learn how to fix worn out junk so when the good stuff beaks, I can fix it".
Just got the Bachmann MEC 40 foot box car on the rails for the first time in 9 years. On my first visit to K-10 Model trains first thing I bought was a Bachmann MEC box car, then had him order a second one that I got the week after. Not sure if this is the first or second one, either way I like seeing it making the rounds.

Seems like every engine I run wants a Wheel Job and hate cleaning wheels. They will run a lot better afterwards and I like them to run slow. C&O RS2 and B&O GP 7 where bucking so hard I lost a coupler spring on the Henrys Reffer that Ed sent.
Does anybody have plans for working on their layouts and/or trains in December?
While we were at the LHS, I persuaded "grandpa" to buy a kit for a station building, but I think I will have to assemble it ...

I spent the better part of the day at my friend´s place to work on the Christmas layout. Well, we made some progress, but did not accomplish what we intended to. Claus had painted the benchwork with a solvent-based paint the night before and the paint was still rather sticky this morning. He had left the benchwork in his garden shed, but forgot to put on the heater, so the paint did not dry. We managed to put down the grass mat and to put the track down. As Murphy had moved to his house for the day, there were two sections of track missing, so we had to drive to the not so near LHS to get them. This put us back for more than an hour, so we were not able to fasten all the track with those little screws he had bought for that purpose, before his grandson came home from school. While we were at the LHS, I persuaded "grandpa" to buy a kit for a station building, but I think I will have to assemble it ...
We will finish the layout mid of next week, providing the weatherman does not send us any ice, which we had today.

I plan to work on some cars that I either put together in a hurry or broke things off of them hauling them to modualr train shows.
I may convert some more Athearn blue box to DCC. On my previous ones I used LED's from christmas lights I bought cheap at dollar general to make headlights. they work really well.
I would like to add interiors to caboose.( cabeese)
I am also going to make me some signals to see if I can.

At least on the trains side. I've got the following: an engine house that needs finishing (need to get more lacquer thinner from the layout as I don't like keeping it in town because it smells too much), two boxcars (One that needs painting to correct incorrect details and adding a cleaner unit. Finally getting close to getting the color mixed. The other one needs new doors painted and installed to match the prototype. That paint had to be ordered to match the car. The instructions actually had what paint was used on the car.), weathering on another car and finish a sand tower. I also discovered that I will, at some point, need to break a promise I made to myself: I need to get two SD40-2s for coal service. The engines I thought were right aren't but I still can use them for general freight.
I also most likely will be able to get rid of an engine that I bought in error. It's too new for my era. I found someone that wants it and was unable to find one. (Also will help with the budget for the 40-2s.)

Hi Rob, Mr. Fussy, the handiman, will be here tomorrow to replace the sump pump for me.
Went over to the barber shop to get my hairs trimmed back.... He usually complains that business is slow. Today I walk in and he has 5 people waiting before me... LOL I will be leaving for Canandaigua in a few minutes. Have to drop off a couple thousand in checks to the bank that handles our 501c account for the MLK committee. Then I will spend the next few hours at my sister's house running her lawn mower out of gas and putting it down in her cellar for the winter. I get to do this every year now for her.
Dark and cloudy outside today. Supposed to be some liquid sunshine this afternoon as well. Likely will appear about the time I get my sister's lawnmower running.....
Garry asked who has plans for working on their layouts... I sure hope so! I am several years behind where I thought I would be back, ah, several years ago.
Looks like the Museum will be running one or two more Saturdays of "Santa Trains". Seems we have completely sold out the runs this coming Saturday. They only advertised on social media for that. I can do the Jolly Old Elf routine for one of the other two Saturdays but not the third.

Started digging footings and basment yesterday and we have already hit a problem. very BIG ROCKS - this is gonna be expensive. Have to get a Hoe ram out and jack hammer the basement in glad I will be gone during the day ! Those things are LOUD.

Recently, I have been working on some used freght cars and passenger cars I acquired without spending much money. .... Last night I was working on a Tyco 50' flat car. It now has new trucks, new body mounted couplers, and new paint. I removed unwanted stuff that was on the deck. Next, it needs decals, weathering and a load.

The cooling fan for the unit had failed at sometime ( burned to a crisp) So i suspect that it was that issue that made this let go. How the amp did not blow a ton of other stuff i do not know. One previous to this looked like a welding rod had been touched to the insides. Luckily this one did not do that and had just went poof on Sunday.
Not bad track record for being powered on 14 years straight. I am going to order new fans for the other amps in the rack as they are only $10.

Yes it is sad about the wildfires in eastern TN as well as eastern KY. We have been to Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and Dollywood a few times. It is normally beautiful there . Tourists enjoy visiting .

Prayers to all those in TN affected by the fires. I have a freind on another forum who had to leave with the clothes on his back to get away, The FD came and told them " you must leave now"
He reports that he can see that his house is still standing, they won't let them back in yet. He was afraid of fires starting back up this evening.
On other fronts not much going on, got a call from the theatre as they had an AMP go bad, so I placed a temp one until it is fixed.
Got a " the Rock" rock island airslide hopper off ebay yesaterday just for giggles.
I will "run" it on my desk at work.

No rain here today. There was rain last night, but the forests are so dry it didn't make much difference. The reporting from the fire area has been spotty and contradictory, which is understandable considering the conditions. But whatever the situation really is, it surely isn't good. At least three deaths so far.

Accomplished nothing but an hour at the gym. Rained all day and more tomorrow. Had my mother over for dinner for some take out Chinese. The poor woman can't remember what was said 60 sec ago. She eats like a bird, it's hard to believe she is not thin as a rail.
I hope Tennessee got some of this rain, the videos are horrific. Makes you wonder what it was like in the great fires of Baltimore, Chicago and London.

couch was delivered earlier this afternoon, old one is at curb awaiting pickup. I wish it could have been donated but it's too far gone to be donated. I have a bulk pickup for the trash for tomorrow. I have been off since Thursday so go back to work tomorrow but it was nice to have some time off. Was a beautiful day out today with highs of 12c which is nice for these parts of Canada at this time of year. Well off to browse the forums

Hope eveyone had a great Thanksgiving. We hosted again this year. I prefer to do all of the hard work vs. driving. When the party is over I can go right to bed or relax and be done.
Train front - Great news - I have the permit and we started excavating this morning ! Expect ftgs to be in by Friday, concrete walls up by next mid next week, already placed the order for the trusses. Hope to be framing in two to three weeks !

Most of our neighbors have decorated their windows and now we see an army of flickering or blinking lights in all colors. Not really what Petra and I like - we go more for the subtle and more traditional Christmas decoration and lighting.
While searching Youtube for music to listen to I found a recording of The Three Tenors at Terme di Caracalla in Rome 1990. If you care to watch it - somewhere in the crowd you may find me! I was there and I still cherish the grand atmosphere of the event. Luciano Pavarotti was certainly the world´s best tenor and his death left a gap not yet filled!

Seems the R&GV RR Museum once again lucked out. We have just been given LA&L #20 on a long term loan. She needs some minor work to get up and running I guess, but she should be servicable and in use next summer!
