A New Brick-And-Mortar
Posted by Firelock76 on Friday, October 7, 2016 6:53 PM

For all you gents into HO and N gauge in the greater Richmond VA area who've been mourning the demise of Chesterfield Hobbies there's a new hobby shop that's opened in the same shopping mall where CH used to be.

It's called Todd's Hobbies, located at 13140 Midlothian Turnpike, Midlothian VA, phone 804-464-4900. Hours Monday-Thursday 10 AM to 6PM, Friday 10 to 8, Saturday 10 to 4.

It's a new start-up, and we all know it takes a lot of guts to start up a hobby business in this day and age, so stop by and give him your support.

HO, N, scenic supplies, track, books, magazines, and other items like railroad art and artifacts.

Unfortunately I'm about 11 hours away so I won't be dropping in anytime soon.

I do wish them success!

Dave

I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!

I'm nowhere near, either, but do have kin in the area we may visit soon - so who knows? Wishing this new venture success, so stop in and see what's on offer. Well-chosen inventory that has something for those who want the very latest and supplies for those in the middle of projects is always good for the bottom line, along with whatever else the locals may favor. Good luck!

I hope Todd's does well.  It is in a great location.

I am routing for the brick and mortor.

Hello all,

Congratulations!

Here in Colorado we just lost one of the great LHS; Caboose Hobbies.

I hope that anyone near this new endeavor will support their efforts.

Good luck!

Hope this helps.

Hey, maybe it will.  I've just noticed there's only five replies to my original post, but 461 views.  I'm assuming the views are folks looking in without commenting, so hopefully some of the viewers live in Todd's area and are planning a visit.

I imagine most of the readers live beyond visiting distance since this is a big country.  What will give this new hobby shop the best chance of doing well will be for them to offer good discount prices online - that will extend their reach beyond local walk in's.

Will they also be doing internet sales for those of us who are a bit far away?

Honestly, I don't know.  You can e-mail him if you like and ask.

Anyway, remember what I said earlier, he's just getting started.  It's well laid out, well lit, merchandise is nicely presented, and the floor's so clean you could eat off it, but it's not the Walther's warehouse showroom.
