I love the sound of the 244 and that firetube pilot on the 561 gives her a pretty unique look!

AFAIK.

The A1A trucks came from under one of these going for scrap, as this one is.

CNR also took these trucks and put them under RS-18s for branch-line use and derated to 1400 HP.

This usually indicates the truck swap, as these trucks are probably from under recipient Unit.

The Traction Motors may well be 'Switcher Type'  Did not check Data, as 1700s were 539 1000 HP.


OT FWIW.

CN 1800-1803 were built new w same trucks.

And used 4 244 Diesels from 4 CN FPA/B2s, which, in turn received 4 new 251s used in Psgr Service.

The electrical cabinet is in short short hood behind cab.

To increase TE, CN later converted 1800s and SOME 1700s into B-B by removing centre axles.

Later converted back to A1A before scrapping.

Confirms A1A Trucks from CN 1700s had lighter GE 731 Motors.

A1A Trucks CN 1800 GE 752, Roller Bearings.

Lots of Data and Plans for CN, CV, GTW, DW+P.
