Browser issues and the new walthers.com
Posted by MILW Trains on Friday, June 10, 2016 12:48 PM

Hi everyone, as you know we’ve been watching various threads following the launch of the new site at www.walthers.com. Some folks have reported they’re no longer able to visit the page, and we believe we've now tracked down some browser issues that might be the problem

Part of the upgrade involved installing the most current security protocols, and discontinuing older versions that no longer meet minimum standards for online security or are known to be susceptible to a number of  “attacks” believed to be running at this time.

Unfortunately, older browsers (and by default older operating systems) do not support these security protocols, TLS 1.2 as well as TLS 1.1, which are believed to be secure. This is probably why some of you are unable to access the site. If you haven’t updated recently, TLS 1.2 is supported in the following browsers and operating systems:

Google Chrome for TLS 1.1 Chrome 22+, for TLS 1.2 v30+ (Windows 7+, OS X 10.9+, Linux, Android (4.1+), iOS (9.0+), and Chrome OSMozilla Firefox v 27 + (TLS 1.1 also supported in v23, TLS 1.2 also supported in v 24+, but both disabled by default) (Windows XP SP2+, OS X (10.6+), Linux, Android 2.3, 4.0.3+, iOS 8.2+, Firefox OS)

Information on Enabling TLS 1.2 in Firefox v24 can be found here:

Microsoft Internet Explorer TLS 1.1 and 1.2 (IE 11+, also supported in IE 8+ for Windows 7, but disabled by default)

For users of IE 8,9, and 10 to enable TLS 1.2 support

I'm using Firefox 46.0.1, both reccomended settings are already there. no products showing (using XP and says its compatible) there is no restricting setting how many show show in the window, I am still on a measily 56k in the middle of high speed area but in the boonies and wont reach here. Your servers need to keep kicking data and not time out so quick. You should have made this beta and work out the kinks while leaving the original site intact (but I understand about webhacks) let users try it out while the original remained useful.

Alright. I did what you suggested for IE 11, and it worked. The web site is now available. Thanks. But I have to admit, this kind of stuff is beginning to drive me nuts. Everytime someone updates their site, new problems seem to crop up.

I'm running XP, but Firefox 47, and no issues seeing Walthers. A FF update might help you. Then again, we're on 40mb fiber broadband.

I have no problem accessing their site, but their search engine seems to get worse with every upgrade. It is extremely frustrating to try and navigate. Don
