Afternoon folks!
Chloe, just a refil on the decaf please...
I have gotten all the printing done and everything packed for the Division Meet tomorrow. Most everything is already packed in the PiP so tomorrow I can get up, shower, grab a quick breakfast, give Blackie his insulin and head out the door for the day! Now I'm sitting here wondering what I forgot....
I posted a couple photos in the WPF thread of the small Sears and Roebuck house I have been assembling. I got up to the point of putting on the subroofing when something hit me.... I remember seeing this house before.....
But something was a little different.... Then it hit me. It should be like this! (I flipped the house horizontally with photoshop.)
Yep that's better. It just needs a two bay wooden garage in back (with one bay made into a workshop) a back porch add on entryway into the kitchen... Hmmmmm Should be a little black and white Springer Spaniel behind the fence whinning for me to come and let him into the house.... OK!... Yep that was our house when we lived in Waverly, NY. There is only one change I found after looking up a photo in an old album. the top front of the house has a peaked roof with a window in the attic. Other than that it is a perfect match for our house back then....
Have a long interview meeting coming up fairly soon. May take 4 hours to get everything done. This is the tough part of the Scholarships. Deciding who gets and doesn't get the scholarship......
I checked local obituaries for Galaxy and Barry and they aren't listed so I hope that means they are both still with us....... Prayers going out from here to them!

We'll get there sooner or later!
Taking the day off so we can go to my 40th high school reunion tonight. We are holding it in San Antonio, on the riverwalk, because no one comes back to the small town where we went to high school. I don't; my parents moved away, and I have no ties at all to the town. There were only 68 graduates, and I know of 4 deaths, so it will be interesting to see how many folks show up.
Have spent the morning taking the dog to the doggie hotel/jail; washed the car; cleaned my cpap machine; did 2 loads of laundry; got my haircut; took lunch to my wife at her school; and went to the store. Still have two loads of laundry to go, then I need to vacuum the house, re-make the bed, pack, and go to the drugstore. Sounds worse than it is; and with the dog at the kennel; don't have him underfoot, going in and out, cleaning his paws (with all the rain, the backyard is a swamp); so that helps.
Oh, and I was hoping for some model railroading time today; guess reading the forum will have to suffice...
One operator, two turntables, what could possibly go wrong?

henry - I wonder if that engineer got fired ? I will never forget driving near George Town Parkway along the Potomac river and I see this huge backup. Several miles later I drive past the source. I box van had entered the parkway ( they are not allowed on the parkway for good reasons ) tried to drive under one of the low bridges ...The top of the box van was laying on the pavement under the bridge. The poor guy was sitting in the drivers seat with his door open and his head in his hands. Wouldnt want to be eitehr one of these two guys !
Help I am being invaded by little black ants. They keep crawling up on my desk ! I have killed at least a hundred. How many of thiese things can be in a colony !
Mr. B - I assume that the bike riders wearing these outfits are in shape ? If I put one on ( like it would fit ) it would cause a national outbreak of sickness ! ER services would be required for anyone viewing that scene !
Garry - I had a 68 charger. But it only had a 318 in it.
Reinhard - LOL - Salt mine - that conjurs up some visions of suppressed labor toiling away in some God forsaken place !
Dave, Ulrich, Ken - That is a crazy round house configuration and what is even more amazing is that someone actually modeled it ! Looked good too
Ken - Oh that makes since. I think you and I have something called "rollingstockgottahaveitevenifwedontneedit" disease. I believe I saw an advertisment for this at the local sawbones specialist. Only known cure is to pass from this place to the great roundhouse in the sky
Ricard - I think that pretty wise to set up a sample and try it before you go to the layout. In construction when we are not sure how something is gonna work we always start on the rear of the house so that when we get to the front the work has been perfected and it looks great from the street.
Angel - Yea Steve is becoming a regular, not sure if that is good or bad ?
Tin Can - Well that is one way to get some MRR in, Glad you decided to stop in : )
Howmus - What is happening in your division meet tomorrow ?
Does anyone have Barrys or Galaxys phone numbers ? I sent Galaxy an email still havent heard from him. Ken do you have Galaxys number ?
Well gotta git back to w**k. Mental break over.

LOL That is pretty much the way it looked except the truck went all the way under the bridge and there was NO roof ontop of the box truck. I assume that was the drivers last day ?
Evening Dinner's
Flo, Beer Please.
Sort Of Work Front Again I cannot belive how slow it was today. 1 Customer on a Friday? One of the reason I take Wednesday and Thursday's off is because Monday and Fridays are good days. Well not lately.
Good News, Jerry is out of my hair on Saturdays and Sundays! He will be working at the Florsaint Store 3 days a week! I feel soory for Larry, he is a good guy. I will only have to fix the mistakes Jerry makes on Wed and Thurs now.
yougottawanta"rollingstockgottahaveitevenifwedontneedit" disease.
YGW Well it is cheaper than "Igottohavemoresteampower" disease! I had that once and it is a pain in the caboose! More than likely I will buy the rest of the 50' Covred Hoppers, I think there is around 10. Now I sound like my wife, I know we don't need it when she starts off with "it was on sale for only". I am a sucker for 50' Covred Hoppers and 2 and 3 bay coal cars. If you had not taken the coal cars I bought for you, well that would have been fine. I only have 43 or so.
Far as Galaxy phone number, no I have never spoke with him on the phone.
Ulrich Thanks for the details on the roundhouse photo. Never knew it was in Germany.
Speaking of well detail layouts, here is one and with B&O Em1 to boot!
Later, Ken

Wake up, Everybody ... It's morning.
I'll have coffee and donut, please.

Neighbors helped celebrate my wife's birthday by going out to a restaurant last evening. Her real birthday is today.

Flo, A generous serving of crispy fried cornedbeef hash covered with some nacho cheese sauce and a couple of hard cooked eggs as well as a big mug of dark roast coffee. Now back to reality, a small bowl of shredded wheat and a small glass of orange juice.

Hopefully we'll hear something good from Audrey soon.

Hope to hear from Barry and Galaxy as well. I'll keep them in my thoughts. Hope they're doing okay.
Heartland, hope your wife ishaving an excellent birthday today.
Cudaken, love the pic with all the B&O power. I agree that the got to have lots of steam power syndrome is a pain in the caboose, plus the wallet. I'll never to recover, but all the smiles, vs. The few groans, ughs, and why'd they do that?! utterances, make it all worthwhile, I love my steamers.
The gottohavemorepassengercars syndrome got to me too, and I have more models of cars to run in passenger trains than I ever thought I would, but again, love it. Of course I have plans to buy many more. Especially with both Walthers and BLI planning to bring P70 and P70R coaches to market this year.
Yesterday, I got reassigned to work at the group home I used to work for. Naturally, I started talking about model railroading to my former coworker. He used to own a hobby store in the 80s. As soon as I told him about running trains with smart-phones, he all but said, sign me up! So, *fingers crossed* another model railroader to be.
I played with my trains last night at the club thanks to an invite from another member doing a run night outside the regular night. I had my K4 pulling 29-cars, mostly mail and express, but with some milk cars and even an MTH 12-1 Pullman in the mix. First time I'd run the Pullman since I bought it at the February Timonium show. I also had my L1 pulling a 42-car freight train sitting in the staging yard I got the go-ahead to run. It hadn't been my train, but I got permission to run it. I had two relatively long trains running in opposite directions. Great time until "gremlins" got to our trains. My L1 spontaneously dropped its programming and only responded to address 03. My K4 would without warning go from like speed step 5-10 to 99, and the throttle couldn't be used to stop it unless I plugged in, but it'd still take off and race. I pulled both locos, boxed up my trains, and called it a night while another member, better versed in the DCC system, investigated. Somehow a cable from our computer got pulled and made many locos behave in an odd way.

Afternoon Diners,
After a month of knee pain on my left leg I decided to go the doctors. I have no idea on what she said but she give me a knee brace. I would need to wear this for the week to heal. If not go back to see if there's a other problem.

Good Evening!
The nice weather seems to be over, temperatures are down and we expect a lot of wet stuff coming down soon. The bad weather moves in together with Mr. Obama, who is visiting the Hannover Fair. The city has been blocked for visitors, which keeps us from seeing our son on the occasion of his 29th birthday. What a pest!
I am taking a break from model railroading. I need to clear my head before I´ll be able to continue w*rking on my layout. Let´s say I a lacking the right attitude for it for the moment.
Have a great weekend!
The weather is warming up in the Valley of the Sun. I went out for my morning ride at 7:00 to beat the heat. It was 65 when I started at 7:00, and 75 degrees when I finished at 9:00. This was my first 100-mile week in nearly two years, and I feel (mostly) great.
I am still trying to muster up the courage to cut the gaps in my trial track. I am sure I am going to screw up and I hate making mistakes.

Richard I bought a flex shaft for my dremel and you don't get the angle when you make a cut like you do when you leave the wheel in the dremel it self. Hope that helps and if you have the funds for a flex shaft.

Sir Madog Good Evening! The nice weather seems to be over, temperatures are down and we expect a lot of wet stuff coming down soon. Ulrich, I read your note to Kris - her comments went something like
What!? That's Terrible - ludicrous! Blocking off the whole city! That's just unthinkable!
Flo, gimme a class of champagne and a bowl of strawberies to welcome our newest addition to our "cat clan".
Furbie, my long haired (very cute) stripey cat - don't know what its really called in fancy cat shows but anyhow she gave birth to 4 kittens.
One of the four is a white male - it may be albino but we can't see the eyes yet as they are not open. Anyhow, I looked for names like "Ice Man", "Snowball" and other names that might fit a white male (really cool long haired domestic) cat.
Does anyone here have suggestions for a really great name for a white male cat. Let me know but don't forget the "better half" has to approve it too :-)
Perhaps it could have a reference to locomotive history that I am not aware of (which is most). But can I get some ideas please?
Chris.

Sit back and enjoy your track...

Der The local Ace Hardware has 6" 1/8 drill bits cheaper than Amazon
Ride on Road. I have a flex shaft too. Not sure it is a Dremel, but Amazon gives you lots of choices. http://tinyurl.com/zq2c2lc
I bought the new cordless Dremel 8050 and it is sweet. It acutally has useful lowspeeds http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=dremel+tool+flex+shaft&tag=googhydr-20&index=aps&hvadid=52661740970&hvpos=1t1&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=4622763816178541123&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=b&hvdev=c&ref=pd_sl_57t6cc3eyt_b
Got my carb jets cleaned and the carbs synced. The bike seems to lack power but I made it to tech day. It was rainy and I arrived after the rain stopped, but about half the people drove cages (cars in motorcycle speak) One of those backed into my motorcycle, breaking off the mirror and cracking the paint on the fairing. Vinnie doesnt want me to use bad words, Vinnie close your ears.
I had someone else sync my carbs and adjust them, it sounds good but still is lacking power and torque. I need to check compression, but other than that, I am clueless as to where the power went.
Herrinchoker,
How could you even think that.

Please, a large cup o' mud. Another 12 hour day at work today ending a very long week.
Chris - as you can see I have an all white cat with the exception of a black toupee (which you can not see on the picture) between his ears. His name is Snow, 13 years old and tipping the scales at 16 lbs. He is my best buddy and loves to sit on the firemans seat when I am with my trains.
YGW - glad you liked the salt mine phrase. Hope you are feeling better and the pain is gone.
All the best.

Evening Dinners!
Flo, a and I will pick up the dinners tap!
Work Front, it was the last day working side by side with Numbnuts! He was awfull today, still has no clue to what he is selling or if it is made anymore! What really got me Po is today the Little Ash Pit showed up 40 minutes early. (Typo on the schuledule) He knew it was a typo, been there for 3 months and normally comes in a 11:00 AM like he should. Not today, and he got a customer I should have. They bought a spiff bed (hacked the prices so the spiff is half) and got the sale. Then the Little Ash Pit put on his time card he came in at 11:00 like he knew he should have done in the first place! God I am glad to be rid of him!
Hope Barry and Galaxy is well.
Ken
dougdagrump For Barry & Galaxy Hopefully we'll hear something good from Audrey soon.
DougDagRump ... That is good of you to post the yellow ribbon. I hope we hear from Barry and Galazy very soon.
Duke ... Glad to see you posting again in the Diner.
Has anybody heard from CN Charlie lately ?
Ulrich .... I could comment about the visitor in Germany, but I won't .
Alfie .... Thanks for the birthday greeting to Shelley. I'll tell her.
Chris ... I thought of some names for each of our cats, but those names were vetoed by my wife. .... and I had better not post them in the Diner because Vinnnie would not like them.
I had time to work on my track project today. Hopefully, I am almost done now.
Happy Model Railroading !
Richard The one I have is quite a bit older and the chuck end of the one that Henry posted a link to looks like it is a little bigger than what mine is. It would still work and let you get a bit of a straighter cut by putting it between the rails and cutting. I looked and didn't see the style I have and it was made by dremel.
This is what is nice about being new(or even in it for awhile) to the hobby, getting to buy all kinds of new and neat tools.
I just noticed that I have 900 posts and maybe someday I will make it to that 1,000th.
Richard Check out the ZFE model 2. It looks to be the closest to the size I have.
Good Morning!
I woke up, only to find out that the world has turned white! This will make the visit of Mr. President himself a slippery one .
Chris - names for a white kitty? How about Whitey, or "Neige", that´s snow in French?
I seem to be suffering from a temporary loss of interest in model railroading. There are just too many other thoughts in my head needed to be thought - the most important one how to be able to find a new place to live a life in peace and quiet. Our neighbors are doing their best to make life a hell here.
Ulrich:
Sir MadogOur neighbors are doing their best to make life a hell here.
I'm sorry that you are in that situation. It's not good. Dianne and I have had our share of bad neighbours over the years. They have ranged from biker gangs to drug dealers (its not very entertaining to have a SWAT team in your back yard at 3:00 am), and we were supposedly living in good neighbourhoods!
On the plus side, we have had wonderful neighbours to our immediate south for close to 30 years, and they are from Germany! Better still is that their son, who is a true gentleman, will be taking over their house when its time for them to move out.
Hope things get better. You just don't need any more crap in your life.
Regards,
Dave
I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
