CB&Q Puppies, er, Lokeys

Finally!! Fresh outa the paint shoppe:
1 ea. CB&Q SD24. I bought this Atlas puppy with the idea of adding it to my Wishram SD24, yellow box models, and it was yellow. Well, then someone gave me a beautiful P2K SD9 and I figured I hadda have something to go with it, so the Wishram paint evolved into the "Q" rolleyes.gif . The paint is the new Trucolor CB&Q Chinese Red and the light Undercoat Grey. Since Atlas did a nice job of adding details, all I hadda do was assemble it. Only one issue, the Q never had drop steps on these models, but I didn't wanna mess up the deck by filling that slot. dry.gif Decals are a combo from Champ and MS.

Here is the SD9 I was given and I corrected a couple of simpler items by installing the correct horns, a winterization hatch, gyralight, steam generator and spark arrestors. Again I chose to not remove the drop steps. The Trucolor grey came very close to the factory paint for the added items. Both units have an overcoat of 50% Dullcoat and Glosscoat. smile.gif

Of course a CB&Q style of caboose was required and I had one of the Bachmann puppies which was designed from the Burlington caboose. Trucolor silver was applied to this humperdill and decals are from Champ. wink.gif

Nice Models! On the 'Q' the diesels were 'motors' & the cabooses were 'waycars'. It was easy to pick out the 'foamers' when talking to railfans!

Don ...

Very nice ! .... I definately like "The Q" and its Chinese red paint scheme. Burlington's silver "waycars" were among the best looking cabooses anywhere.
