Any specific prototype in mind?
Otherwise, logging cars often had minimal lettering, because they typically weren't used in interchange. A set of letters and numbers may provide enough to take care of your needs.

Normally, such cars were not marked for a railroad, owned insted by a lumber compan, and running on private tracks. The best you could hope for would be numbers painted on them *somewhere*. Today they would use a spray can, but in those days it would surely be a paint brush... So just get yourself a fine paint brush and paint the numbers on. The numbers would only be needed by the people tasked with maintaing the equipment.
Put a different number on each side of the car, and people will think your fleet is much bigger than it really is.
