Trainman's Shanty
Posted by Dick Friedman on Thursday, February 18, 2016 4:07 PM

A couple of months ago, MR had a feature story on a scratch built trainman's shanty.  Here's my take on it, done as a 3D print in Large Scale (1:32).  Thanks MR (and the author) for making the elevation drawings in real feet and inches.  Using my scale ruler it was easy to set up the Tinkercad files.  This is a little bit simplified -- no wainscotting, but it looks really good on my outdoor layout.

Would like to show you the finished shanty, but I don't use a website to post pictures except Facebook and the SVGRS website, and don't know how to link to those.  Cut and paste would be soooo easy.  Get with it Kalmbach! <G>

PM sent, this really needs a pic.  I will post it for you.  If you can mail me the pic, you can figure out Photobucket, which is free, but slow.

I belong to another forum that permits people to easily post pics that are so large you need three monitors to see the whole thing.  That ends up changing the format of posts with only writing and not for the good.

Yeah, please join photobucket.  A free account will let you store lots of photos and it's very easy to use.  That way, you can share your work here and allow all of us to enjoy it with you.

Here's a photo from photobucket:  found the photo, clicked on it, then clicked on the "img" line of data, then clicked and "pasted" here where you see the photo:

It's one of several freelanced crossing watchman's shanties which I built for my HO scale layout.

If you click on the photo, it will open as an enlargement in another window, and another click will enlarge that even further.
