Yesteryear Models Question Again
Posted by csmincemoyer on Monday, November 29, 2004 3:37 PM
Hey all,

I've posted this before and I'm curious if anyone else has ordered/received the Appalachian Lines Set from Yesteryear. I ordered at Timonium on 10/9 and still haven't received it. I've contacted them twice and first they said they would ship by 10/31 and then by 11/13. I've never been able to contact them via email and now they're phone mailbox is full. I'm just trying to get a feel for their track record. Thanks

I ran into similar problems with them - Christine Paul work out of her house(she is married to one of the Intermountain principals. Also, email response is very slow. I waited forever for two cars and finally got her on the phone one afternoon - the cars arrived a week later.

First of all, I'm not trying to make excuses -- just offer explanations --

One of the issues we are trying to sort out with YesterYear is drop-shipping product from IRC for her (Yesteryear is a part time gig for Christine) -- we have to use the USPS for this since other options were coming out way too expensive. But it takes extra time -- about a week -- to ship the product out of IRC then when she was trying to keep up with all the shipping herself.

The biggest headache -- anyone with a small business will appreciate this -- is the fact that the YYM 800 number is one or two digits different from some special "Buy time for Long Distance" call deals with a calling card or some such -- the result is the voice mail box has been filling up in a few hours for the last couple of months. And she has to go through each message before deleting it -- most of them are people demanding to know where their calling cards are. . . .. isn't small business wonderful??????

Christine doesn't usually work on Mondays, but I know she'll be answering the phone tomorrow -- I'm heading out of town for a couple of days, but I'll let her know you're trying to get a hold of her. And she will get through the e-mails eventually -- there's an awful lot of them.

Thanks for the info Marty. I understand it's a small business. I'm trying to determine if I'm having problems with the local post office, I already ran the postmaster out of town once after mail starting disappearing, Model Railroader was one of the magazines, and now she's back again as a temp and guess what, my mail maybe disappearing again. I'm still waiting for another item for another vendor that was supposedly shipped 10/28. The post office won't do anything without proof of the item being shipped. As I said in my previous post Christine gave me two shipping windows and I still have nothing. That's my primary source of frustration.

I received my set and it was worth the wait. Beautiful cars. Patience, they are really nice people to work with even if they are a bit slow.
