Issues with Microscale Decal Set (87-530)
Posted by FRRYKid on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 12:12 AM

Got another one for the forums. I am having issues with a certain decal set from Microscale as mentioned in the title. The yellow pine tree decals break up when I try to form it around the headlight holes on my F3A. I had one set do it and I put a coat of a decal preservative on the rest of the sets I have but the same problem occured. I have even tried to use Micro Sol on the decal and it doesn't seem to help either. The rest of the decals on the sheet cooperate when I use them. I am fresh out of ideas.

Any ideas anyone might have would be most welcomed.

Speaking of fresh, how fresh are these decals. It's heck getting old...

Best I can come up with is they show that the set was revised in March 0f 2004. They were purchased last spring/summer if I remember correctly.

They've probably been reproduced since they were revised, but Microscale may be able to tell you for certain. If they actually are pushing ten years old, that could be the source of the cracking, etc. Better to get fresh than try to make those work IMO in such a highly visible location.

Buy a set direct from Microscale, that way you are sure they are recent production. It may cost a bit more, balance that against your recent frustration!
