Gidday All, well the sun is well and truly over the yard arm, that is if I could see it as it has been, and still is, a grey and misty day, the rain has been very welcome though.

Tomorrows the Clubs Open Day, so here’s another shot on the HO modules.

Good morning from mostly cloudy and cool Northeast Ohio!

Bear, I love that Y6b, its the one engine I would like to get a good model of!

Mike, more nice scenes along the layout.

I did not get any work done this last week, so I am going to show some old work I have done that I do not believe I have ever posted before. The cars shown were built over 20 years ago when I lived in Alaska.

Robbins Rails 60' Greenville Boxcar, changed the wheelbase to 46' from 41', removed the rivits and scribed weld lines to replicate the Thrall 60' Boxcar. Painted with Floquil Boxcar Red and lettered with Mark Vaughn Decals.

Pennsy X59 Class 60' Boxcar by ACF, again removed the rivits and scribed weld lines to match the prototype along with changing the wheelbase from 41' to 46'. Painted with Floquil Boxcar Red and lettered with Mark Vaughn Decals.

Another 60' Box, this time the Greenville version with the rivits, but the wheelbase was changed to 46' from 41' Car was painted with Floquil Jade Green and Black and lettered with Walther's Decals.

All the above cars were used in Ford Service for auto parts.

And a picture taken at the Strongsville, OH Club, Stewart C628 and C630 hauling a string of G39 Ore Jennies.

Ah!  The weekend already!  Great start on the best thrread on the forum.

Progress....  Progress is being made, I hope, on the Girder bridge.  After several more hours of tedium the rivets are basically in place on the first half of the bridge.  I am not going to put the rivets in places where the sun don't shine and will never be able to be seen.

Rivets will be added to the top and bottom of the girders after the second half has been finished and the two sections are joined.  The bridge will then be ready to paint and weather....

I do believe that today is Take a Model Train to Work Day. Okay, that is still a thing right? Anyway, that's just what I did. I took my portable N Scale layout up to the South Carolina Welcome Center. I ran locomotives from railroads serving the Palmtetto State and put out brochures about our railroad-related attractions.

Bear, Thanks for the WPF kick-off and club shot, appears the diesel elect. is ahead by more than a nose.  Club holiday shows and open houses are in full swing around these parts.  

When complete the Walthers kit will represent the older part of a power plant complex and coupled with an overhead pipeway also serve as a view block where trackage passes thru the backdrop.  Plans for an elborate interior were for naught as the thick gridded window frames reduces visibility.

I agree. When I built this kit with the interior last year, I should have removed some of the muntions from the windows to open up the view. Even with LED lighting, the best view inside is through the large front door.

Gidday All, Just a quick note. The club open weekend went reasonably well, some were complaining about the small turnout and lack of money made, but the rest of us had a great time running trains, and I think we did a pretty good job promoting the hobby.

Apart from getting the layouts presentable and reliable, my personal task was to make some track cleaning cars for the club; as I have mentioned before the hydrogen sulphide in the air plays havoc with metal surfaces.

This is one of them that I’ve lettered for the club, I’m experimenting with making decals and I need to do a lot more experimenting! The over exuberant weathering was done in a hurry to disguise some of the inconsistencies, but as it was done with water colour paint it is able to be washed off.

That's a might fine job getting a track cleaner to blend in so discretely. Makes them more useful when they can operate in low key fashion.

Bear: A couple of nice looking trains. Like everyone else,I love N&W's big steam,and I've always like the big high-hood Alco's.Unfortunately,except for a few on the Santa Fe,they never seemed to find favor here in the west.

Nothing new on the layout this week as I am still working on the ballast. However here is a nice scene I caught on the Boothbay Railway Village layout earlier this fall.
