Have MEC E7, it needs a new pilot
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, November 7, 2015 8:40 PM

I purchased a P2K Maine Central E7 recently.  I have found a parts queen donor for some missing bearing caps for the locomotive, but need a new pilot for it (mine is missing the lower section). Does anyone have any thoughts on where I could find one that could be used as a replacement.  I also need some exhaust stacks (some are smashed).  Other than those small items it is in decent shape.  Note: I have checked Ebay.

I might have a doner and I'll check when I get home and update this reply. I'm pretty sure I used a MEC E-7 to power one of my dummy B units and the shell "should" still be on the shelf.

Stay tuned, Ed

Update:

Andrew, I have good news and bad news...

Bad news first, the shell I have is B&M E7 #3813, not MEC as I mistakenly thought (that's what I get for trying to guess when I was away from the layout).

Good news is that I have several Proto pilots that I can send your way if you can use them, plus the B&M shell if you can use it, too. The eight exhaust stacks are heat-welded into the shell so you might have a time of it trying to get them off...

Send me a PM and let me know where to send your parts,

Ed
