On October 21, 2015, what better way to celebrate "Back To The Future" Day than with an HO scale layout depicting Hill Valley, CA?http://www.lancastereaglegazette.com/story/news/local/2015/10/20/railroad-model-builder-goes-back-future/74231642/
Now if the guy can model a flying, time traveling steam locomotive like in BTTF #3....
George In Midcoast Maine, 'bout halfway up the Rockland branch
I just found out this morning this was the day the Cubs were supposed to win the World Series. Not looking too good.

If it were possible to travel back in time to whatever time period you thought was the golden age of railroading, who would do that if you could only travel back in time and would have to live the rest of your life without so many modern conveniences we take for granted today. Would you be willing to give up your smart phone in favor of a rotary phone plugged into a wall? (I would). Would you give up your Hi-def big screen TV in favor of a little black and white set with rabbit ears and a fuzzy picture and only 3 channels to choose from (This one would be tough). Or maybe your favorite era predated TV so your home entertainment device would be your radio. So many things we take for granted we would have to do without. Still, I would be sorely tempted to go back to the post WWII era which many consider to be the the pinnacle of passenger train travel. I'd love to be able to travel the 20th Century Limited when it was the epitome of first class travel or the Empire Builder with its domed cars. I'd love see steam locomotives operating in regular revenue service rather than just excursion trains here and there. I'd love to see cabooses (cabeese) on the rear of every freight train again. All that would seem so right.
Anybody know if there are HO scale DeLoreans for sale?

Even if the date can't be precisely right, the Cubs might come back and win in 2015. Partial credit? Of course they're down 3 games and behind 6 to 1 in the 8th so it might not happen.
EDIT: Make that 8 to 1.

Modeling HO with a transition era UP bent
That's cool!
If I could time travel, I'd invest in some high-end HD video equipment, and make the world's best railfan videos. :)

Final Mets 8, Cubs 3
Wait until next year Cubs fans.
Question for Back to the Future fans: Was CPRR 131 Sierra RR No. 3?

From a lifelong Chicagoan and one time Cubs fan, I can only say that the Cubs performance throughout that 4-game series was pathetic in every respect. Rich

I hope you hadn't allowed yourself to get your hopes up. Charlie Brown has a better chance of finally getting to kick the football than the Cubs have of reaching a World Series, let alone winning one

Yup.

Agreed. As a survivor of the 1969 debacle, hope is not a word in my vocabulary when it comes to the Cubs.
I remember it well. Arguably the most epic collapse in baseball history. As I recall the Cubs were about 10 games up sometime in the second half of August and finished 8 games back. Ernie's best and last shot at the postseason.
I was born in Chicago but mercifully my family moved to Omaha before I could develop an allegiance to either the Cubs or White Sox. My mother was born the year after the Black Sox scandal and only got to see her White Sox in one World Series in her lifetime. They lost in 5 games to the Dodgers.

From a Dodger fan, I really don't want to hear the name "Daniel Murphy" again, and I assume you don't want to either.
ALTHOUGH...he's going to be a free agent this offseason. Hmmmm....
as a Met fan,Daniel Murphy!

Hello Train folks! I was just poking around to see how deep into the web "Hill Valley:The Model Railroad" had actually made it since it was featured in my local newspaper on Wednesday! I was thrilled to see that it has actually found the some genuine Railroad enthusiasts! I assume my website has been discovered by now: www.HILLVALLEYMODELRR.COM
Please do drop by the website and look around all you like!
And, yes, I do intend to model Doc's time-machine locomotive the first chance I get!
See you all in the future!!!!

I can tell you the locomotive that Marty and Doc "borrow" had appeared in many movies and TV shows previous to BTTF III. It's most famous previous role was as The Cannon Ball in Petticoat Junction.
