Replacement couplers for Proto E7s
Posted by Missabemodeler on Saturday, September 5, 2015 1:49 PM

I recently purchased 2 Proto 2000 SP E7As. They both have horn-hook couplers. I want to change the couplers to Kadee for use with my SP Daylight passenger cars. Can someone please tell me which Kadee coupler is best for coupling the 2 A units to each other and then to the passenger cars. The passenger cars are Broadway Limited with knuckle style couplers. Thank you.

I think Paul is pointing to the Kadee Swing Bracket # 453. I have installed many of these on my early production Proto 2000 E units. They take a bit of patience when installing but perform flawlessly once you have them done. Unfortunately, they are discontinued at Kadee so you will have to search the "secondary" market, AKA eBay!

Sorry about the glare...

I don't know if the recent kits include it but the ones I bought 15 years ago also included a thin plastic "buffer" that snaps over the diaphragm to keep them from catching on each other! Kadee products are worth every penny!

Good Luck, Ed
