Color Of BNSF Walkways
Posted by caldreamer on Saturday, August 8, 2015 8:32 AM

What are the color(s) of the walkways on the BNSF locomotives?  I know that they had green and orange and black and orange locomotive color combinations.  One picture I saw had orange walkways.

All are undoubtedly correct, depending on whih locomotive tha it is and when and where it was shopped last. I'd pull up some pictures, but at the moment I am visiting in New York, and have no access to my servers in North Dakota.

LION seldom worries about such things, train crews wear dirty boots, and the floors in the engine compartments, or even in the head are dirty, and gets tracked all over the walkways. Train crews also wear gloves, and then play with dirty switch stands and couplers, and so the hand rails will also be a mystery black.

Now, then, does anybody know why tigers have orange stripes?

Go to Google or Bing. Type in "BNSF Engine". Look for top veiws and see for yourself.

Youtube might work too. At the worst, you'll see alot of BNSF action.

The color varies.  Some locomotives have a green or black to match the underframe, but I've also seen some with a copperish/pinkish color walkway like this.  I'm not sure I've seen any with an orange walkway the same shade as on the hood, but I wouldn't be surprised.  As always, it's important to compare with prototype pictures.

Lemmee see now.

You asked that question yesterday in the "Prototype Information for the Modeler" section.  I spent a fair amount of time researching it and provided an answer.

Did you even bother to check if your question had received a response before posting here?

Or did you find my response so inadequate that it was worth ignoring?

Since, either way, it didn't help you out, I'll delete it.  I suggest you do the search method as described by a previous poster.  I think you'll learn a lot.

They don't. Tigers have black stripes with orange bodies.

That is the walkway color.  I have a picture of B23-7 4252 with the walkway orange.  Here is a link to it.  The pinkish color could be bleached out orange.

I am certain that the pinkish walkways are a different color than the orange on the hood.  The picture you linked, as well as the one I linked earlier, are fresh and unweathered paint jobs.

Even the Little Kids try to get away with that explanation, but my friend, RAMU, is a golden tiger, and him has just orange stripes of different shades, however, the correct answer as to why the tiger ha orange stripess, after all, stripes are stripes, is so that he may hide in the spaghetti.

Suppose the spaghetti is made Alfredo?
