Once again the best customer service ever award goes to Intermountain.
Just picked up a few more Intermountain F units, some on the "secondary market", one was slightly damaged by the pony express.
A quick phone call to Longmont has the parts I need on the way, always friendly, always able to solve a problem.
I have never had a defective product from Intermountain, but when I have needed spare parts or product info, they have always been able to supply what I needed.
A true leader in this industry.
Most of the F units on my layout are Intermountain, and I think that percentage will continue to increase.

Nice to hear, Sheldon...
Glad to hear some positive feedback instead of the all-too-common grumbling and griping!
My first experience with Intermountain was back around the early 1990's when I built a few of their refrigerator car kits in HO. They were amazingly detailed and fun to build.
Then I tried some of their wheelsets and especially appreciated their ball bearing axel variety which work beautifully in older brass passenger cars.
Most recently I wanted to see how well their locomotives measure up and I was looking for a manufacturer that used Loksound decoders, which Intermountain does, so I bought an A-B-B-A set of Bessemer and Lake Erie F-7s.
They perform flawlessly, come with Kadee couplers and the aforementioned Loksound Select (as opposed to the Athearn Genesis) and I like them so much I bought four more! I hope they will continue to expand their product lineup.
I've never had to contact them but I'm glad to know that they are helpful and stand behind their product.
Regards, Ed
Ed,
I use their wheelsets in nearly all my equipment. Most of my freight cars are equiped with a unique truck/wheelset combination that I found to be exceptionally free rolling.
I install Intermountain wheelsets in Kadee sprung metal trucks.
I too have built a number of Intermountain kits and have always been pleased.
I was especially happy when the introduced their FP7's, and I'm planning on getting a few more.
I'm not into sound or DCC, but decoders unplug really easily......
I used to have a section on my website to give a shout out to the good guys - back when Stewart was still Stewart, I had a similar experience, bought a set of F7's on eBay, the B unit had a broken step. They were still sealed in the original bags, but still, random purchase from just some person on eBay. Since it was sealed in the bag still, and the broken piece was not also in the bag, I had to assume it broke during manufacture or packing and wasn't caught. i called Stewart and explained, including the fact that I bought them on ebay, and they just sent me a new decorated shell, no hassles.

Sheldon,
It was probably loosely packed in the ''saddlebags''.
Couldn't resist.
Take Care!

I have had excellent service from InterMountain too. In fact it has been beyond excellent if there is even a category for that. After one particularly pleasing episode where they sent free parts even though I told them I was willing to pay, I sent them another note telling them they were too generous! I don't believe in something for nothing.

I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
