Model Power diesel hustler - opinions?
Posted by trwroute on Friday, January 16, 2015 10:22 AM

I have a little project in mind and am curious of the running qualities of the MP hustler 4 wheeled diesel.  The body casting doesn't really matter, it will probably be cut up and rearranged.  I just want to know how well, or how bad, it runs.  Any help would be appreciated!

They're OK, but definitely nothing special. They have a 1-axle drive with a traction tire, so electrical pickup is with 3 wheels, and the one I had for a short time had a pretty good waddling motion. For a project, I'd personally get an Athearn Hustler, install a 2-axle gear drive, and go from there (because I actually did do that Big Smile).

Look for a Lionel "Husky" same shell and frame as the Athearn "Hustler" but with gear drive for all four wheels.
