As I see it, the simple raison d’être for WPF is Having Fun of a Model Railroading Photographic nature. Now of course the great thing about Model Railroading is its diversity, and how the hobby caters for differing skill sets yet still allowing participants, no matter what their individual level of skill is, to Have Fun.
Now while some aspects of the hobby are more photogenic than others and while our interests and skills and levels of skill differ, I would like to think that we are mature enough to not only recognise a person’s skill set and level but be able to celebrate with them their WPF no matter what aspect of the hobby it is.
Also by making their engagement in the hobby available to the public domain, they do run the risk of opening themselves to public ridicule, so on that basis I would also like to thank all contributors to WPF.
We have on the forum a couple of “Lions” and “Bears”, but to my knowledge no Sharks, so to those thinking of contributing to WPF, “Come on in the waters fine”!!Smile, Wink & Grin

Cheers, the Bear. Smile

You're welcomeSmile, Wink & Grin

I like sharing what I do. The internet makes that so much easier and more accessible.

I suppose there's some skill involved with what I do, as well as in taking pictures of it. But I don't think that's a requirment to join in the fun.We have it all, from the work of beginners all the way up. I encourage everyone to join in, as there's always something to learn from the work of others.

Ja Bear makes a good point in that WPF is a supportive community. Sure, people comment, with all that involves, but those of use who regularly contribute do our best to provide encouragement, not discouragement. The tone that's set is a positive one.

We've seen a trickle of WPF newcomers again recently and that is very welcome. Lots more potential contributors out there, I'm sure. The only real requirement is to have a photo posting account somewhere. There's advice on how to do that, it's free in most cases, elsewhere in the forum or just ask.

More than anything else, WPF has made me the modeler that I am.  The consistently high level of photos presented every week motivates me to improve my own efforts, mostly just by spending a bit more time on each model and each scene.  I'll go back and re-take a picture, too, if I don't think it's up to WPF standards.

So, thanks from me, too.

too bad weekends are 5 days apart

I had another great shot with lots of action in it.

The Crew of SP&S extra #98, and a Milwaukee road train wait on a rather long BNSF mixed freight. The town of Sergeant see's a lot of hustle in rail traffic.

SP&S modeler, 1960's give or take a decade or two for some equipment.

I've posted a few times and I certainly am a beginner. Every time I've posted I have received encouragement and I am thankful for that. I will continue to put myself out there and post pics of my work. Of course I haven't started much scenery aside from ballast so we'll see how easy it it's to show the world my skills or lack thereof when the time comes.

Either way I guarantee I'll be having fun!

Thanks everyone for your contribution
