Ken.. love that 68 Charger with those colors and top.  The lines of that car look fast.. just sitting there. Maybe its the painted 'Front hood' I like.~
Inch 53.. Thanks.. and thought I'd share some pics with ya too.
YouGottawanta.. lol. "Keith - Geeze did you scratch a hole in your face ?"

.. lol.. no.. If I remember correctly.. I used words.. like Molar.. and Wisdom.. but I'm really not sure.  I'll tell ya this much.. both were connected together.. and so when he pulled.. well he was pulling two at the same time.  Surely many would have suggested to the Dentist to just straddle you and the chair to get a better grip. But thats how much it hurt.. and the hole it left.  But it does give good reason why I told my wife I could no longer talk on the phone.  I'm sure my wife thought I was merely in a state of panic. I told her about what you said 'it wearing off'~

OK.. for those that remember the Laser Art wood kit.. yellow house.. with white stripes?  Well forget it.  Went and had some fun with color.  And put together another type of house. Thought I'd share.

Using Red spray paint with yellow on top.  With the intentions of only misting the area with color.

At some point.. I stopped.

Its important to know when to stop.

I did want a lighter color, but in the in end I came up with this color and was quite satisfied.

Evenin' folks!

Chloe, I'll have a hot chicken sandwich, french fries, a garden salad with blue cheese dressing, and a cup of decaf, please...

 Garry, well said!

Barry, can't come up with an H16-44, but I know where there is an Fairbanks Morse H12-44

I brought Claude back home to my sister's house early this afternoon.  I guess after the first day or so he settled in and was a good kitty while being boarded.  Got him in the house and Clim was in the Living Room.  He bolted down cellar while I let Claude out.  Claude took off and went exploring trying to find my sister. them went out to the kitchen looking for food.  I gave him ther half a can of cat food that was left over from yesterday and he started to wolf it down.  As soon as Clim heard the refrigerator door open he knew food was in the offing so he came part way up the stairs from the basement.  he saw Claude and got wide eyed, then looked at me and then back to Claude several times.  Then he came right up and got his face into the bowl with the food.  Claude decided he needed to go exploring again...

After Clim finished off the rest of the can food, he comes over to me and rubs against my pant leg.  I leaned down and he let me pet him.  I went in the living room and sat in my sisters reading chair and he came over and rubbed against my leg again.  He let me pet him for about 45 minutes.  I know he was thanking me for bringing his best buddy back home!  We are now officially friends I guess.  He is a very sweet kitty and it is nice he has finally accepted me again.  This is Clim:

And , I don't want to leave out Claude:

Got to go load the woodstove so we can keep warm...

Later!

Yawn.......  Oh, yep, I'm awake.

Janie, can I get a refill for the deacf, please...

Garry, yep!  My sister got very lucky this time with her cats and she has finally learned that cats don't need to go outside where they can get run over or killed by dogs, catch parasites, and play havok with the songbird population of the neighborhood.

These two cats came from very different backgrounds.  Claude was adopted from the local ASPCA Shelter and was part of a litter from a home somewhere locally.  He had been very well taken care of and was in beautiful form when she got him at a few months of age.  My sister just loved his markings.  We both think there is some Scotish Wildcat somewhere back in his ancestry as he is huge (Weighs in at 17lbs) is very strong and loves water!  He tends to be very friendly but somewhat alloof at times.

Clim was one of two kittens from a litter born to a ferral cat out in a barn/garage about a block away.  About the time he was weaned his mother was killed and a few months after that his sister was run over and killed in the street.  He started showing up at my sister's house just a few weeks after an older ferral cat with long hair had disappeared (probably died).  My sister found out some background about him from a nieghbor down the street.  She left some food out for him and he became a daily visitor to her house.  He was frightened of most everything and was a sad little guy.  He soon decided that my sister was OK and would come over and sit on her lap and get petted every day when she fed him.  One day she let him in the house to meet Claude.  They had been staring at each other through the window for weeks...  For the first few minutes Clim seemed fine and was nose to nose with Claude.  He suddenly realized he was trapped inside the house and became terrified (He had spent 6 weeks trapped in a barn accross the street when the people went to Florida for the winter.  Somebody finally saw him and opened the barn and let him out.  He was in very bad shape when he reappeared at my sister's house).  He literally went beserk.  My sister thought she was never going to get him to go out the door.  He finally found it and left.  Didn't come back for a couple days...  Little by little over the summer he got so he would come inside for a few minutes, play with Claude, and ask to go back outside.

Then Winter came last year!  One day he came in for a while on a wet cold day and didn't want to leave.  My sister let him stay.  He still hasn't left.  So here is scared little ferral cat who made friends with an indoor cat and a human and has adopted them and claimed the house as his.  I was very pleased he decided to accept me today!  He has turned out to be a sweet little (10 lb) kitty who loves to cuddle with his human all the time...

Well, I seem to have written a short story tonight.  Never did get down cellar to the trains today.  Hopefully I will for a bit before I drive to Rochester to pick up my sister at the airport tomorrow.

Be blessed!

 Evening Dinners

 Flo, Warn Beer Please

Dang it is cold for this time of year in Southern ILL! It is 17 degrees right now and I am missing the 15 pounds of fat I lost! Normally I handle cold well, not so far this year.

zstripe
Do You want to run for pink slips...against My 64 Fairlane ''Thunderbolt'', it only has 600 + horsey's. If You frequented the drag strips, You'll know what I am talking about.

Z Strip yes I know what a Thunderbolt is and belive it or not, I am not shaking in my boots. Whistling While it is not in a light weight I have a 1963 Super Stock 426 Maxie Wedge in the 68 Road Runner. Right now it has 906 383/440 heads for street driving. I still have the 4:38 Gears, Heads and Cross Ram intake for the motor. If some time you like to chat on the phone, I will tell you the story about how I happen to get the Compelet Maxie Wedge for $50.00. Big Smile

Love to see some pictuers of the 427. I wish I had kept the 427 Mustang I had. Sigh When I got out of the Army I had no way to get 2 cars home, so I sold the Stang and kept my 68 Road Runner.

By the way, my 69 Charger is no slouch.

http://s83.photobucket.com/user/cudaken/media/Charger%20Site/69ChargerDriverFrontEndBlownPullingEngineInGarageStartCudaKen_zps2d4c0e60.jpg.html] [/URL]

With it over driven 10% I made 698 HP at 5200 RPM's and a frame bending 750 foot pounds at 4800 RPM's. All she needs is a 6 point cage to stiffen up the body and a 4 link and slicks.

Train Front Think I have found two of the problems with Shaky the GP 20 I got from Vince. I call it Shaky because it would run, the stop. Shake it a little and it would run again.

1 Found a lose wire to the rear truck. Easy fix.

2 Seems to have a DC decoder. DC in the case means Dazed and Confussed.

Going to install the decoder in a diffrent engine and see what happens. If it still acts Dazed and Confused I will reset to default and cross my finguers.

 Later, Ken

GOOD Tuesday Morning!

November 18th, 2014!

Train related:armchair modeler:  I LOOKED at the train room yesterday and nearly fainted. It has so much other stuff in it it is impossible to get to the train table right now. TOday is garbage day, but I should do grocery shopping, maybe I will do some "cleaning and throwing out stuff" It works as  "Storage roomn" too. I once had it all neatly done when I built the the small HO layout: 3.5 feet x 5.1 feet. BNow it takes up so much space it isn't funny...the room is ONLY 8x9 feet....Whistling

~I should go grocery shopping BUT i think i WILL see what I can throw out today...gotta happen sometime i guess...I can go grocery shopping on thursday...now if only my back holds out...

~back WON't hold out long as my spinal nerve injections are next week, so It won't take much before in agony. I have a call in to the Surgeons office to find out IF I can go ahead with the injections or nto...a spinal epidural may NOT be best thing afore a surgery... will find out, sooner or later.

~since the spinal nerve injections take about a week to get over and takes place one week before the surgery adn I am in agony for the week, THEn the shoulder surgery, I will BE one hurting puppy for awhile. SOme of you may wish I was in pain...Whistling

Mornin' everyone!  Oh, Mornin' Barry!  Zoe put Barry's tab om my account will ya?

Zoe, I would like the #2 special this morning, over easy eggs, bacon, home fries, and a double order of sour dough toast, and bring over the jar of strawberry preserves please.

Currently 20°F outside, up from 18°F when I first got up this morning.  High today will get up to 24°F...  "We're havin' a heat wave....  Tropical Heat Wave..."

The sun is trying to peek through the clouds every now and then...  I get to drive to Rochester this afternoon and chauffeur my sister back home.  Glad she is not coming into the Buffalo Airport as Buffalo has had 3 foot of lake effect and is closed (state of emergency)!  The NYS Thruway (I-90) is closed from the Henrietta Exit (46) to the Pennsylvania State Line....  Haven't had much here (knock on wood).  A little over an inch.  The roads are clear so no problem until I get to Rochester.  I use the Henrietta exit and I-390 to get to the Rochester Airport.  Fun, Fun, Fun!!!  I read recently that the amount of water that lake effect can remove from Lake Erie is more in one hour than goes over Niagra Falls in a week....  All that moisture then comes back down as white stuff from Buffalo East when the wind is out of the West.  So right now Buffalo to Henrietta and Watertown area are really getting dumped on.

Best get moving I guess!  My best to all of you.

Garry - thanks for the email. Wasnt sure what happened here. But it sure sounds like a lot of folks got their panties in a bunch. Cannot figure out why folks get heir panties in such a bunch as something that is meant to be as Galaxy says "Healing power".

Ken - LOL, DC Dazed and confused ROTF. Which charger body style was your favorite ? What did you think of the 66 like Elvis drove in that movie ?

Galaxy - even though you dont know how to spell Christmas ( you are short a few letters ) I for one do not wish you pain. I rather enjoy your daily post.

Howmus - do you send some of that cold weather here ? With the wind chill it feels like 16 degrees today ! Maybe that is because we are next to Washington DC. I think we should change it to Washington Dazed and Confused : )

Rob - No Problem. I have a question for you. Do you think it taste better because it is in a train coffee cup or because it is a UP coffee cup ? I wonder if I get an M&W trin cup wht it will taste like ? Maybe I will Ask for one as a Christmas present.

Mister B. - Congrats on your retirement or not retirement. Any way Congratulations I am sure it is well deserved !

Welp gotta get back to that awful word w**k - now that is a word that should be banned - TTYL

 Afternoon Dinners

 Flo, Beer Please

Warming up the grill and going to do the Artic BBQ. It is all the way up to 26! Big Smile Might as well enjoy the warm weather. Laugh

Train Front Well it did not go well. Sigh While the wiring looks well done by Vince there is something very wrong. Seems what I thought was a Dazed and Confused Decoder is really a BBQ decoder. I made the mistake of installing the decoder from my UP F7A unit and cooked it as well. With the F7 decoder it did the samething, run, stop, run and stop. Installed it back in to the F7 and it was DOA. Only thing that will work is the lights, just like in the GP 20.

I am half way thinking the DH 123 /163 decoder is just to big. With the shell off, it ran. Install the shell and started acting up. Think I am going to try a N scale decoder the next time around. Will start gutting the engine later tonight.

Blowout (Its Berry Right?) I assume you are asking me if the Blower is the latest version? Far from it, it is a old school GMC Big Bore 6-71. It has a few trick things like teflon wipers, matched ported and flowed BDS Tented intake. I all so have a 250 HP Fogger set up to cool the fuel temps if I ever make it a race car. OK, it is for looks, if I use the bottles (Have 2 for the trunk) it will break the Charger in half. Never did install the fogger set up, goes under the carbs. After I saw the Dyno numbers I knew I bite off more than I could chew.

Dennis is a Mopar friend and is the cam designer for Reed Cams. He is the one that set up the cam profile up and had it made for me. He out did him self! Idles smooth but will nail you to the seat. I was hoping for 500 HP! Whistling Heck, it made 300 HP at 2500 RPM's. I quiclky under drove it 10 percent.

Thinking about buying a new computer. I found out where my company buys computers and it is local. I am looking for something new than my Dell 3300 with DDR 1 Ram. My budget is no higher than $150.00. Couple I am thinking about.

 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-Optiplex-745-Desktop-Celeron-D-3-07GHz-80GB-HDD-2GB-RAM-CD-Loaded-w-Win-7-/361098470378?pt=Desktop_PCs&hash=item54132563ea

I do perfer Intel and Dell so maybe this one.

 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-Precision-T3400-Core-2-Duo-2-4GHz-80GB-HDD-4GB-RAM-DVD-ROM-Loaded-w-Win-7-/231386712094?pt=Desktop_PCs&hash=item35dfb9081e

I will do some research on line about them I just wonder what you folks think.

 See you all later, Ken

Good Afternoon from a chilly Winterpeg,

Chilly as in 18F with a wind chill of 4F right now and it isn't even sunny.

Well we finally made it down to Thief River Falls this past weekend so I now have my HO layout running again with the new DCC system. We had a great visit and a great meal out at the Evergreen restaurant where they serve great ribs. Ride home wasn't much fun with strong NW winds causing a lot of blowing snow and poor visability.

I am nearly finished ballasting the main line on my N scale door layout. I just have to put the glue on a few more feet and then it is done. Next up will be the sidings which will have different ballast to reflect the usage. After that I think I will get the roads and streets down.

Mr. B, gongrats on the retirement. I joined that group a year ago and I think you will be glad you did too. People are right who wonder how they had time for work in the first place. I do find that I am staying up a lot later but then get up later in the morning. It's all my wife's fault as she is a night hawk so I wind up watching something on the TV often until 12:30.

Barry, nice to see you back !

I've been reading the posts in the diner and am not surprised Mr. Otte stepped in--glad he did.

Well soon time for supper.

See you soon,

CN Charlie

Well

SO GLAD I AM NOT in Buffalo, as parts got a whole 51" {yes four feet, Three inches} of s**w. such a dirty word.

TRAIN RELATED:

~ I worked on the train room all this morning. What a mess! I piled all train stuff floating around on top the train table. Probably not the best thing to do as it adds weight on top the tracks. But for now, where else to put it?

~Only threw out 3 bags {giant 39 gallon ones} of "garbage" from the room....as a "hoarder" which i am beginnig to think I am, seriously, I cannot bear to throw something of"value" or "stilll usefull"... out except when i am in a "throw away mood". I was only half way there today.

~But most importantly I DID find the floor, and that with half the stuff GONE{IF I get ridof it|}, I COULD get back to work around the layout...just still not quite able to expand it to the 4.2 foot x 6.5 foot i'd LIKE to make it. The room is only 9'x8'! And chopped up with the "furnace bump", the closet and the window and door...so with the "furnace bump" it really is only about 5.6-6' deep there.

NON TRAIN RELATED:

~Wrapped PRESENTS for the great nephews all afternoon. Not all of it/them/the stuff, but a LOT of it. Some will go in stocking with glitter-glue names on them. The glue has to dry before I can do much stufffing. We will be going out there {a 45 minute drive} this weekend, so IF we don't make it again before that holiday I cannot mention, the presents will be there. Also wrapped some for  MOH and some "to US from Santa"....Whistling

~Now as long as I remember where I hid them from MOH?

HALFWAY TRAIN RELATED:

~ The tree will go up thanksgiving day while the turkey is roasting....THEN the presents can go under the tree. It is the small 2' from last year, and NO, I WON'T be putting the 40" {or is it 42"?} square train layout under it this year. Too much hassle as it DOES tend to block part of the entrance to the kitchen, and MOH has a fit over it. I personally, as a fat jolly old man, do not find it a nuisance, though-even though I have to tunr sideways to get through.

NON TRAIN RELATED:

~For those who are wondering....I have heard from Ulrich, he is dealing with a major health issue.

~wonder what is up with Jeffrey? I think he said he had to share someone's wifi or something, so must not be sharing anymore? Hope he is doing just fine. I know he will.

!well, nap or bed time, which ever it turns out to be...

See you in the A of M...

Evenin' folks!

Janie, I could use a refill of the decaf right now if you would...

Got my sister home safe and sound...  Well, safe anyway.  NYS Thruway was dry and clear until I got to the Victor exit (44) passed under the bridge and whalla!  Snowy and wet roads.  Had to drive straight into a 35 mph wind the whole way so gas milage was terrible. Worst I have ever got on the PiP at 44mpg on the way to Rochester.  I decided to take a chance and stay on the thruway to exit 46 where the road was closed passed that point.  Real nasty driving by the time I got off at I-390.  Bad all the way to just before the Airport too.  We decided to take I-390 back to exit 46 on the Thruway and take that way home rather than drive though Rochester with the idiots at rush hour being far worse than driving in a blizzard!  Other than wet and windy roads, it wasn't too bad on the way home.

Claude and Clim were happy their Human had come back to them, and Clim even let me pet him again.

Still waiting on the paperwork that has to get to the editor by Friday....  I have some bad feelings about the success of the Convention if I don't get the needed stuff done correctly in time to publish.  The next issue of the Region newsletter won't go out until March.  The Convention is in May!

Hope you all stay warm and safe!

I am late for lunch today, but I would like a double Denver with home fries and a Dr. Pepper to chase, Please.   If only I could.

We had a good trip despite a good deal of ice on our trip to Billings / Laurel last week. We left a week ago Monday and came home on Sunday, through a lot of blowing snow and high winds.

Had a great visit and helped with some of the renos on Son's and DIL's new/older home.

JEFF,   This just for you.  I saw a covered hopper on a siding in Billings that was colored a light blue/green and in large white letters the length of it said "CREATIVE NATIVE"  and I immeadiatley thought of you. I think you should repaint and reletter one of yours that way, it would be most appropriate.

Poor old Buffalo, they got as much snow in 24 hours as we got a couple of years ago (total for the year) when we set a record for snow fall. Don't envey them a bit.

Had a nice visit with John at Jim's Junction in Billings and picked up some bits and pieces, mainly repair and detail parts, nothing major this time around.

I've looked for the debalkel that caused Mr. Otte to issue his moratorium but I have been unable to find anything.  What happened and has it been pulled ?

Barry, So glad to here you are still with us and glad you have come back on line.  Hope you recovery goes well.  It is the sh-ts when the Golden Years we were waiting for turn out to be only a racing stripe in our shorts.

Next week I go to Saskatoon, 156 miles north of here for a second opinion on my esophagus by a specialist there. Sure hoping for some kind of help to get back eating and drinking normally again.

Sure interesting talk lately about B-mann GP-30s being noisey.  I have three of them and love the look of them and they all were quite noisey.  I just started to run them LOTS, both directions, usually as a second unit in a lash-up and two of them run almost silent now and the third one is much quieter but still has a little purr/growl.

Sure enjoy hearing from Inch, Flip, Chuck and Keith again.  Hope others return as well.

Wishing the best for all in need, Ulrich, Jeff, Barry and all others. Wish Paul would check in.

Congrats Mr. B. on the retirement now, and again when the time arrives for sure, I am sure the new commute to the train room and ski hill will be much more pleasant.

I had best get back to work here and look productive, after all they are paying me, somewhat......My 2 Cents

Will be back later, Gators.

Johnboy Out..................................till then

Nope!  But I know of a couple people who have made some monster ones using Big V-8 car motors...  About 8 miles down the road from here there is a farmer who has a combine with one of the Rotary Snow Plow attachments and uses it on the long road/driveway leading back to the cow barns.

Later!

 Evening Dinners

 Flo, Beer Please

Uneventful Day at work. New store sighn has help with customers coming in, I had 7 today. 3 bought but it was all little things.

Train Front Gutted the N&W GP 20 and found some melted wires. What I find strange is they are all in the lighting wires? Reason I find that strange is the lights are the only thing that still works on the decoders. Hmm Here is a little bit I am going to test the motor and see what kind of Amps the motor pulls.

Starting to make some more coal loads for the coal cars. I just do not like emptys for some reason.

Sure like to hear from Jeffery and Ulrich soon! With there on going health problems it does make we worry some when they are out of touch.

 See you all later, Ken

Good morning, everyone!  Sunny, low 30s, and an easy commute.  Only 13 more round trips until retirement!  Yay!

Penny is off to Florida to see her parents tomorrow.  She'll be gone until the 3rd of December.  I have lots of layout projects to work on.  I'm picking up some lumber for another short extension, the last one currently planned.  Most of Phase 3 of my layout is staging, but this is a "destination" at the end of a branch line.

Train show this weekend, too.

I've also decided to order a CVP wireless system to add on to my Lenz DCC.  They have them on sale right now.  This will give me a couple of more throttles so I can host operating sessions when I'm ready.  I also won't have to run a throttle bus into Phase 3, so I won't need to cross the aisle with wires.

Good Morning,

It is a balmy -7F right now with a -20 windchill but it is sunny. Oh the joy of winter in Winterpeg. Tomorrow it is supposed to get up to 32F and that isn't minus!!

Today I hope to start ballasting the sidings and might even get it all done. Then I have to clean up all the little stray bits of ballast on the side of the rails which is a lot more critical with N scale. Hope everything still works ok when I run trains.

Ken, I forgot to mention that a couple of weeks ago I was parked beside a '70 Road Runner that had a large hood scoop with ' 440 six pack' on the side. It was a 4 speed version and fully restored. The rear tires looked like slicks--- don't know how there wouldn't be a lot of scuffing against the wheel wells as they sure were stuffed in there. I thought of you. My wife learned to drive on her father's car, a '70 Chrysler 300 with a 440. She said not many guys could beat her away from a stop light.

Well time to get moving here.

Mornin'................

Snowin'.............  Gonna get worse!  We're in a Lake Effect band for the afternoon here in the Finger Lakes.

Zoe, I'll have a #2 Special, over easy eggs, bacon, home fries, and a double order of Sour Dough Toast to go alomng with a pot of Seneca Lake Blend Dark Roast Coffee this morning please.

Little by little information is getting done for the article I need to send out by tomorrow evening for the Region Newsletter.  There is no way everything can get approved by the deadline as I havn't even seen it yet and it needs several approvals before I can get the matertial finished to go to the editor.  Hoping he can give us a few days more...

Buffalo had had 5.5' of fluffy white stuff in places!  Some great photos of the unfolding disaster on the Weather Channel online.

Catch you all later!

Good Morning!!!

Dr Pepper and a two piece fried chicken dinner please. Thanks.

Whoa! Scorch marksSurprise…I see Vinnie stopped in. Glad I wasn’t around. The envelope does get pushed a bit, I guess it got ripped openZip it!. I'm just glad all is well again.

Galaxy- Noop, no problems here. Just don’t have much to say. Things are kinda boring around here and I just got out of the habit of stopping in everyday to say hi.

Kinda also what Garry said too, I mean what with not doing ANY model railroading, I really have nothing even resembling model railroading to add to anything I say so…I just stop in from time to time to keep myself known and to not make people think I have a problem with anyone or anything. Of course I don't think every post should have some MRing in it either, but you know, at least ever once in awhile I should have something, otherwise…I might as well frequent a knitting site. Oh well, when I get back to Toddland (of which I’m King), and I hope it to be soon, you will certainly see more of meYes. Then you all might say “Gee! I wish it was back when you didn’t talk or show your MR stuff!!”Laugh

PLUS!!! My usual Chinese Buffet has closedSad. Yup, no notice just closed. Been a couple three weeks now. Not surprised, when they change locations and names, the food was not near as good and they DIDN’T BRING SUKI WITH THEM!!!!!Crying Angry Sigh I feel that was their downfall. Yup. Even I didn’t go in as much with no Suki. No Suki…no "Missa Toddy". Sorry that’s just the way it is.Huh?

Rob- yup on the tranny fluid for a wash like Ken/Inch said. You don’t hear much about it anymore because of the better oils, fuels and engine electronics keep the engine much much cleaner so no real need. But they used to do it a lot especially with the old Pennsylvania crudes like Pennzoil and….Confused, oh can’t think of the other one. They were both VERY popular oils and good for highway and long run travel, but absolutely nasty on the internals of the engine if run for short bursts like in town stop and go driving. I remember I’d take the valve covers off a car and there’d be so much gunk and sludge built up in there you couldn’t see the valve train. I’d say “let me guess Pennzoil or Quaker State (that was it)?” They’d puff up and proudly claim one or the other. "Used it my whole life. Only brand I use. My Dad used it and so do I" I’d then say “personally, I’d use either Valvoline or Castrol…You won’t get this.” They’ve both cleaned up their oils, I’ve heard, years ago and no more sludgey.

WElp, best get a move on for the day. Getttin a slow start because Brenda is off this week and I made no real plans and only are accepting emergency type things other than regular w*rk schedule.

Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!
