Spelling.....Locked!!!!!!!
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, October 22, 2004 7:51 PM
Aw, Eric, you hurt us to the quick, and just when we were having some fun. Ya gotta have some fun sometime, I mean really not everyone can spell, mispelled or is it missspelled, or maybe mrsspellt, how about misspeelt, aw who real gives a flying wingding, people are people, not everyone can spell properly, and I for one don't see a problem with that. I try not to judge anyone based on how well they spell. Remember, no one's perfect and not everyone has been to 4 years of college or for that matter, not everyone has a high school education. So who really cares.[soapbox][soapbox][soapbox]

I just don't feel that we should be judging people who post on here by how well they spell.

We allllll do[:)][:)]and BTW, if you want to park a spell checker on your screen, try SpellCheck.net, you can park it down on the task bar and bring it up when ever you need to check a word, then minimize again, no problem[:)] I for one do that and I also ask my 28 year old Daughter about some words, it makes her feel needed[:D][:D][:D][:D]

The sad part about about that thread is that not only did the author "mispell" something (which, mind you, was the reason for the thread in the first place, I guess) but on top of that the author has got his vocabulary wrong in another thread.

SO, the bottom line is WHO CARES!! If you don't like reading it then please go somewhere else, forums are suppose to fun, enjoyable and educational. Not critcal. As stated above, NONE of us are perfect and if you think you are then why are you on this forum and not out making money?

ok, enough of my soap box...
I only vent once a year. [:)]

I"m with Dano 99%. Lets get on with what this forum is all about ,good people from all walks of life and from deverse educations that enjoy Model Railroading.
I believe this forum is for all ages, skill levels, and by and for people who give of themselves to help each other.
I can also see the critiquers point of view, but not the harsh or captious judgment. Perhaps a good dictionary and thesaurus, to use at all times, if one is into a discourse that evalualates or analyzes this forum , as if it was a work of art or lititure, of which in a way is, its called model railroading, not eng lit 101.
So disolve this thread and lets get on with it.

This has not been one of this forums finest hours! I misspelled misspell; miss-spell!

The point of the original post was to read over what you said, previously to posting it. By
doing so, I thought spelling and grammatical errors might/could/would be caught!

The post went off into La La Land by you all's miss reading and miss interpretations of
what my original post stated! I do not have the ability to re-speak or re-direct how this
thread went!

I'm sick of it and if I could take back something I said, I would!

Spell however you like! If you want to look stupid, there is plenty of room here!

I think that just about sums up my feelings here. It's hard to misspell a smiley.[swg]

I truly hope not, Dougal.

Some forums I belong to have pretty strict rules about a member restarting a thread that the moderator has seen fit to lock.

Mark, this isn't directed at you, it's really directed at certain people and their willingness to censor these threads before they've had time to run their course. We can talk about all kinds of things on here, and most of the time it doesn't get out of hand. But when those individules start shutting down a thread just because 1 or 2 overly sensitive people start complaining about it's content, then that starts to smell like censorship. I don't like it and I really don't think anyone else on here does either. It's not the American way. America was born in debate and Americans thrive on debate. It's our way. If there was a WAR going on, thats one thing, but there was no war, most of it was just a little light hearted fun. Don't let this issue get you down, and above all, don't take anything said on here seriously.[:)][:)]Actually, in retrospect , this isn't even aimed at any one individual, but rather at all those who feel that only their input is worthy of note. At those wi***o control rather than just simply participate. We should be able to have an intelligent exchange of ideas or a little humor without worrying about someones warped sense of value. This is how censorship starts and is fueled. It needs to stop!!!!If this thread is locked, so be it, that will only serve to prove my point...

As a former signature line of mine stated years ago . . .

"In the rapid exchange of information, spelling, grammar and punctuation take a back seat to the flow of data."
...or some such.

Hey, if it's so important here, why don't we just use the provided Forum spelling and grammar checker? Uh..oh...never mind. [X-)][%-)][;)]
