How about oldest/newest and filthyest in one pic? In 1980 I bought 100 Bachmann and TYCO covered hoppers,flat cats and gondolas for $100.00 when K-Mart wanted to get rid of themOut of the 100 I have about 10 left here are two of them.Oldest and filthiest on the left oldest and freshest on the right.Big Smile

Show me your oldest freight car

This was actually not quite that easy for me since I bought my first 30 freight cars all at the same time in 1989, a mess of Athearn bluebox and MDC with a few Accurail kits thrown in.  I repainted many of them, I think this bluebox 50ft gon was one of them (they didn't come painted and lettered in B&O IIRC).  In any case, it's the oldest one that I've got a photo of.

That's an impressive rebuild, Corey.

Mine are a little more straightforward than that, but here goes:

#16 started out as an unlettered Blackstone C-19

And turned into this:

 

#51 is a Bachmann Spectrum Modern Baldwin 4-4-0 that looked like this out of the box:
