I know about the long days,,,,,11 hours each day,, with a 1 hour each way commute. But today was good, sold 2 cars by 2 oclock in the afternoon Big Smile And Friday isnt our busy day, wait til tomorrow!! Surprise

I did suffer a driven gear failure as I was setting up a NWSL gearbox in a loco this weekOops - Sign. A call to NWSL and a new gear was ordered under their "disaster plan", only cost me $5:00 for shipping.  Big Smile Nice folks there!

Ulrich, been watching from the sidelines on your progress. Very, very nice so far!Yes

Well, gotta get back to work for another 40 minutes, then I'm home to see my sweetie! Remember guys, Mothers Day is this weekend! Its amazing how a small flower purchase can have such a positive effect on your railroading!

 Eveing Dinners!

Flo, Beer pleases and a slices of Pizza

Soory it has been so long scenes my last visit. Been felling beat to death after work, while I do not much a 10 hour day is pretty darn long. Nothing good wise far as commision, think I may have made a extra $20.00 or so, but still better than a stick in the eye.

Only high lite of this week is Wednesday coming home I got 28.2 MPG! Not bad for a 1994 Lic Town Car around town! Big Smile I got a green light on ever intesection, and there are 15 of them!

Busy day and had a heck of a scare! I did cut the back grass, got rid of the trash, went to the bank and got some checks and deposit slip. Went to K-10 Model Trains, libaray and to buy some gas. Hum, debit card would not work? Sigh Plus I was in St Louis, luckily I had some cash on me. Got back to the bank, Barb (branch Manager) said there was $600.00 in the account. She then looked up my debit card and it showed the trasaction was refused do to the account was NSF? Confused

She called the head of Debit Cards, and they saw the samething!Confused Then we figured it out! I use two braches, Maryville 95% of the time and the Collinsville branch. I use Collinsville to depsot my checks due to I drive by it on the way too work. I was out of deposit slips so they made one for me, when they looked up my account, they picked the one that I don't uses! Quick transfer and everything is fine again.

Ulrich, I went to K-10 and they did not have the spikes you wanted. They had some Mirco Marks ones but having no idea what you could use I ordered the ones you requested. They should be in Thursday and if I am off Friday I should get them picked up. With some luck, I will be able to get them in the mail the same day, depending on the cost.

 See you all later, Ken

Jimmy Braum: Sorry to hear that. I have had to make that decision not only with animals more than once, {one just 2 years ago}, but also with my mother {to shut off life support}. Guess which is the harder of the two? I have told MOH that we will NOT get any more animals, mostly for this reason. MOh says we will. I wonder who will win out?

Well, I have done nothing much but run around today. It reminded me of WHY I go out to do the shopping EARLy in the morning!

I had 3 things to do down the parkway {why do you park in a driveway, but drive on a parkway??}. The furthest is about 8 miles away. It was the Credit Union. Do hte banking, then go to Best Buy to get 2 mor black printer inks, then to Harbor Freight to get 3 things: a new set of Allen wrench, a box of disposable gloves, and a 27 LED task light/emergency flashlight. I took me 2.5 HOURS! With Best Buy not opnening til 10 AM, i waited to do all that. No waiting in line at the CU, and Best Buy was fairly simple. Harbor Freight was a  nightmare, finding stuff, tehn with only 1 cashier open, and a lady in fornt of me returning about 10 items from 2 receipts, one paid in cash one on a card. That and entering her address caused MAJOR problems! the cashier had to call for help, who was no help. Then they did nto have the lgiht i wanted...not until Monday she says. No wonder I couldn't find it in all of the store! Their floofr is bare concrete, which is VERY BAD for my back, waiting in line did not help!

Traffic is a nightmare on the parkway that time of day..the major hiway which connects the parts of the Triple CIties easily is is closed mostly as they are upgrading it to become an interstate. We have a 90degree hairpin curve, connected to another sharp curve that makes an "s" curve that way where 2 interstates connect to this soon-to-be-intersate highway. It is affectionately called "kamikazi curve". They are TRYING to 'straighten it" with new bridges and such. Not only do they close down protions of the hiway, but also local roads below. The parkway is the closest parallel roadway tha can connect the twoi ends of the cities.

Then I had to pick up the arrangement for MIL's grave, as MOH couldn't. It was HUGE, larger than i expected! MOH is happy though, though they made one flower mistake.

By the time i got home this afternoon it was WAY to hot out there to fiddle in the pond/planter. TO give you an idea, it is 74F at the airport high on the garbage hill, 80F downtown, 82F here in our part of the valley, and it is 94F on our porch, with major holes in it, one the size of a large painting, nto quite a movie poster, but large painting! The 94 is aobut what it is at the planter, see the bricks hold/radiate heat.

Jeffrey: I didn't sleep much last night either, nor the night before. I have 2 sleepy meds, one works best on empty stomach, one needs a snack to activate it. I had a snack and took the empty one, then later after midnight, I took a snack one on an empty tummy. didn't work! I finally had another snack to activate the snack one. You'd think it would make me sleep for hours on end! but they don't! I slept about a whole 4 hours last night. I haven't had time today for a nap.

well, go the mail and a bill arrived, so need to settle the banking and pay the bill and see what the other envelopes hold.

Dinner is on my own tonight as MOH will eat out with the client. dunno what I'll have.

Well, my heart has been broken.  I had to have one of my cats put to sleep, at least he won't be in any more pain now.

We went out for breakfast this morning, and after that, we stopped at Best Buy where I picked up a nice tripod for the new camera. Playing around with the 55-300 mm lens last weekend, it became obvious that one was needed. Taking photos of the signal bridge down the track, some were a little fuzzy. I was into photography back in the early 60s, but I've forgotten most of what I knew then. So I'm going to have to refresh myself with depth of field, etc. The other thing I noticed is I'm going to have to be a lot more careful with the auto-focus. One shot of the signal bridge was really blurry, but the "NO PARKING" sign about half way down the tracks was sharp & clear as can be. I don't even remember seeing the darn thing.

Spent most of yesterday cutting grass & doing some other yard work. That included planting the cannas, dividing some hostas and general clean up. By the way, that's the 3rd time the grass has been cut in the last 2 weeks. Taking a break today as I'm kind of sore.

I've been enjoying the photos of Ray's that he took while visiting layouts last weekend. Hope he has more.

Looking forward to doing some railfanning again tomorrow & maybe Sunday. Tomorrow may be a little iffy, as they are calling for thunder storms. But we might go anyway and just hope for the best. Stay safe & enjoy your weekend.

Jeff. That is a nice looking pocket watch. Does it have a story. My mother still has the pockect watches that were owned by my two grandfathers.

Nope, no story. It came free with a gold-plated Civil War commerative coin set.

Good morning. It's 72° with 100% humidity. The high will be 85° with heavy clouds and a fair chance showers and thunderstorms.

Still not feeling my best. I only got a couple hours of sleep last night (this morning actually but who's counting) so I'm not in the best of moods. Waiting for the Home Health nurse to call. Until then I'm keeping busy with some little projects.

Nothing else planned for today. I hope to get some sleep later.

GMTRacing
Jeff - you never cease to amaze me. A ribbon printer? Really? If you can keep after the switching and roll it should last forever, no? And what nefarious use will you find for it? Could come in handy for printing train orders for your fleet.

Yep, an old ribbon cartridge dot matrix line printer. This is the first ImageWriter printer I've owned. Sold a boatload of them but never owned one before. I thought it might be tough to figure out all the settings on it without a manual. It has fourteen DIP switches up front that fortunately are set properly for the type of serial card my computer has and by the wildest stroke of luck that card is set for this type of printer. It's one of several serial cards I had back in the 80's and thinking about it it's properly the one I had in the computer that was used to demonstrate an ImageWriter printer for customers. Yes, I sold Apple IIe, Apple IIgs, Apple IIc and the first Macintosh systems back then. There's another part of my life you didn't know about. Well in looking through my manuals I found that I DO have an ImageWriter II manual. Haven't so much as opened it yet but I do have it. However I couldn't find the manual for my Super Serial II card so I bought one on Ebay for next to nothing. Now, what am I going to do with this beast? Well using the AppleWriter II or Super-Text word processor programs I'll be typing up a roster of my fleet and I'll print it out on this printer on single sheets or on continuous fanfold printer paper, expensive stuff these days. A box of 2700 sheets would run about $40 with shipping. A dot matrix printout also fits my general era. I've tried but you just can't fake a dot matrix printout with an inkjet printer.

Morning guys

Did the last of my homework for this semester. I have to turn it in, which means driving 20 miles. I'll probably do that around noon.

IDK what the plan for today is. I have a few cars to weather for some people, but it's supposed to rain... I also got a few P2K kits in the mail yesterday. I may work on those too.

On the new job, I did forget about benefits. If they do a decent health plan, I can drop my existing plan which eats about 40% of my income.

I'm off to take my mom to the hospital for a check-up.

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, just a coffee to go, half and half and stevia please...  Nice to see the diner full for a change!

I am just about out the door for a meeting with the new committee of a Cub Pack I am helping to get restarted...  The District Executive will be there as well.  We will be primarily discussing recruitment plans.  That's the big place I come in I guess with District Membership.

Going to get up into the 80's today so I will be checking out the air conditioner to make sure all is well.  Need to do some grocery shopping later this afternoon and fill the PiP with that fossilized Dinasuar dung stuff...  I have 20¢ off a gallon which will help a bit.  Been running on electrons all week but will be out at the Museum for opening day on Sunday.  Working Train Crew.  Will be found on Erie C-254 most likely.

Ulrich, nice addition!  The dock is looking very good, BTW!

Best get moving!  Later!

Italian Roast coffee in a STORMY & SOUTHERN mug, please.

Does Fox Valley Models still exist or were they one of the companies that have gone out of business? I'm curious if the Hiawatha set (with 4-4-2 loco, HO scale) is still made and available anywhere? Not that I can afford it right now, but I am curious.

Looks like a fair chance of storms for this years Mothers Day Powwow. I'm hoping it will hold off or go around the park where it is held.

Healing thoughts to those in need. Have a great day, all.

Cheers! Cowboy

Good morning, everybody.

Ulrich ... I like the photo of your layout

Jeff. That is a nice looking pocket watch. Does it have a story. My mother still has the pockect watches that were owned by my two grandfathers.

JR .... Good to see you! .. You sound busy.

Todd ... Gald to see you too.

Vincent .... Congratualtions on the job. I'm happy for you. (Dang taxes anyhow)

Galaxy ... Sounds like a very scary experience. Glad you are still with us.

V8 Vega. ..... I wonder why the big jump for fire insurance premium.

It's a good idea to have complete homeowners insurance (or renters) to protect from fire, liability, etc. Higher deductables keep the premiums lower, but you should have enough in your savings to cover the deductible in case of need.

My Soundtraxx decoder was returned from the manufacturer. I'm thinking of putting it in one of my 4-8-2's because apparently, my 2-10-2 does not like Tsusami's..... While I was out of town, gremlins creeped into my layout, and a couple of other decoders were not working yesterday.

Good Afternoon!

The mail man (it´s not the nice mail lady anymore Crying) brought a little package, the contents of which perked me up a little.

The Keg Harbor R.R. & Nav.Co. now has a second loco on its roster.

As it appears to be usual with Bachmann products, some of the detail parts, that are supposed to be included, are missing. The loco has achoice of three different stacks, I got only two, Unfortunately, the one I wanted to have is missing. The saddle to mount the different stacks is also missing. I just wrote an email to the Bachmann parts department to send me the missing parts. Until they arrive, I have to settle with the wood burner version. Still, isn´t she a beauty?

After lunch, I went out to get some more paint. I also bought a glossy varnish. I grabbed a can from the shelf marked "acrylic paints" only to find out, that the one I bought is solvent-based. Of course, I found out after I opened the can... Whistling. OK, no harm done, all we have is this nice smell of solvents in our house. Should I not report back by tomorrow, Petra has killed me ...

Good Morning All,

Been a while again as it's been crazy busy all day at the track or in the shop and then home, exercize and sleep. Haven't seen the layout for a couple of weeks.  I'll have a regular to go and blueberry crumb donut please Zoe.

Oz James - good to see you back. The Mohave and lower valley didn't have much industry but did have lots of orange groves, farms, ranches and oil wells towards the hills. further north there were towns with the usual stores and in the central San Joaquin there was again cattle and farms and grape vines for Gallo, etc plus Armstrong Rubber had their big west coast tire plant in Hanford. What I recall most living there was miles and miles of nothing outside of town.

Dennis. Ditto on the fire insurance. Both Rob and I have been through house fires and it isn't easy. Make sure you have adequate insurance on your personal belongings as well as coverage for code upgrades. Allstate has every item seperate and you need to be very diligent that you have what you really need. We were never informed about the code update rider so when we needed a different peak beam that was out of pocket along with the rewiring to current code, etc. Very expensive. It's almost easier to let the house burn to the ground. Oh, and document what you have. I lost all my racing programs, memorabilia, team gear, drivers suits, etc. and if there wasn't enough left to identify, we wouldn't have gotten a cent for any of it. Fortunately between inventory lists and evidence, we were able to get full value (another rider in the policy).

Jeff - you never cease to amaze me. A ribbon printer? Really? If you can keep after the switching and roll it should last forever, no? And what nefarious use will you find for it? Could come in handy for printing train orders for your fleet.

Packer - congrats on the new job. Yes you will pay taxes. In fact the Navy witheld income tax and SS on my $47 a month I made as an E-3. Will you be an actual gov't employee or will you be employed by one of the private contractors (DelJen or the like)? Nosey people want to know.

Time to get going, still lots of stuff to do and people popping in with questions.   Cheers, J.R.

V8Vega:

I FULLY believe in the INsurances !!!

the Park requires us all to carry home insurance. I once lived in a rented house. The old electrical system caught fire in my room-mates room durning the night-he was fortunately staying at his GFs house that night. I had to climb out a window in my BR {thank goodness because I had a room-mate my BR door was CLOSED}. I had on only a pair of undies and socks...my winter coat was luckily on the chair under the window I crawled out of which had my wallet in it {that would later save me a LOT of trouble}. There was NO neighbor to answer their door as I banged on it{rural}...I was having much trouble breathing {asthmatic  AND smoke inhalation}, but since my keys were in my pocket I drove to the nearst convenience store that had a pay phone out front. This was pre-911 or early 911days..I had to try to explain WHERE I was and where the HOUSE was {1.5 blocks away} as they had no idea! One cop was dispatched to me at teh convenience store, and one to the house to VERIFY it was, indeed, on FIRE! An ambulacne was brought and I spent the night in the hospital for smoke inhalation treatment. The Ambualnce guy, about 2 weeks later, came in into the restaurant I worked at and told me about that night..apparently I had stopped breathing on him twice, and gave him a scare!

Point coming: I fortunately had a "renters" insurance policy that would cover my belongs. It was only for $10K and I stupidly, though he never paid any for the policy, put my room-mate's name on it too. He had bascially a suitcase of clothes and a good camera and a few things. He settled out for $1000 of the policy as I had the rest of the household full of stuff. That COULD have been a mistake as he could have had claim to $5k of the policy. I LOST EVERYTHING  BUt about 7 garbage bags of stuff {mostly clothes} that I tried to salvage, and mostly could be washable} When I calculated up the loss/damages {with a boat load of pics} to claim the total loss the adjuster said I had {and I didn't have to try to salvage anything}, I came up with about $22K in stuff from lots of CDs, major stereo/AV equipment {i was younger then}, and furniture. The adjuster said I could write the rest off my taxes for the unreimbursed amount. Well, that turned out to NOT be true...I could write off a percentage of a  portion of a part of  the remainder that was not insurance reimbursed, so for the other 12K I wasn't reimbursed I got a whole like $200 deduction off my taxes ONLY!

Final Point: I WOULD NOT live without FIRE INSURANCE, or household Liability for that matter, which is included in the $272/yr { the rate has gone up over the years by about $20/year} we pay on the trailer...heavy on the liability, because if someone falls on our lot, WE, not the park, Are considered responsible, even if it due to a crumbling driveway or porch pad that THE PARK OWNS and is "responsible for" {and our driveway is in sad shape the blacktop is crumbling, think the park is going to replace it?????not in 14 years adn I doubt anytime in the future}!

When I moved in here with MOH, I looked at the woefully inadequate home policy MOH had, and we increased contents by a large amount {MOH had only $2k in contents!} , and went in search of a new policy because the State Farm policy MOH had only included "exact replacement with matching kind" coverage. In other words, they will only replace our 1983 3br/1ba trailer with a USED 1983 3br/1ba trailer! I wanted FULL replacement of the trailer with a new one! I contacted Allstate, and got the best deal..it includes replacement costs up to $55k, which should do it. New ones can be had around here for about $39K. I did not care what it cost!

I now believe in the insurance, and hope it never happens again, but I KNOW trailers tend to go up in smoke in  a matter of minutes, not hours! I will ALWAYS carry it now, even if I NEVER have to use it again in my life! The "peace of mind" is overwhelming.

I URGE all of you RENTERS to get renter's insurance...it costs relatively little {about $100/year}, and MAY come in Handy as the Landlord's insurance DOES NOT COVER the renter's property!!!

Packer: congrats on the JOB! The Q is not whether you get a free ride on taxes{no one does!}, but do you have government things like: pensions, retirement accounts, etc! THAT can be where a gov't job pays off! 20 years in and a stack of bennies to help you through the rest of your life! THAT is what I'd be looking for, not tax reductions!

WEll,

Have a GREAT day!

Good Morning Gang!

Not a good night! I woke up at 2am and could not find any sleep thereafter. I finally crawled onto my sofa at 5.30am, but only for a snooze. I am too tired too sleep. It´s a rainy day here and I´ll better stay put and don´t go out. I should get some paint, but I don´t feel like doing so.

I always thought this to be a model railroading forum, but when I read the title of a thread "Looking for a Good Looking Caboose", I started to have my doubts. Could this be a dating platform in disguise? What will be coming next? "Looking for a compatible B-unit to form a consist"? Whistling

Flo, I´ll need some eye opening, dark roasted, strong coffee, please!

Make it a great day!

Good evening. Well maybe it is for you. I've felt rather 'off' all day. I did at least get a parts drawer set up to store the computer cards I use most and have the most of. It's set up to hold four types. #1 is 80 column RAM expansion cards, #2 is standard 80 column cards, #3 is CP/m cards and #4 is X104 drive controller cards. Though I don't have many of any of these this gives me a place to store them other than having them in a pile in a box with a bunch of junk cards. It t6ook about an hour to get everything sorted. I also cleaned up the ImageWriter II printer as I now know it works.

That's about all I had the energy for today as I was standing almost the whole time.

Showers and thunderstorms tonight with a 60% chance of thunderstorms.

Time to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

Evening guys

I got a job offer from the comissary. 40 hours a week and I make 1.5x more an hour than I do now. I do wonder if it is tax-free being a government job.

I'd say not. None of mine ever were.

Have been too busy to do a whole lot lately. I'll be able to do more later...

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Gee, Nobody in in 3 hours? I must smell. I took a shower...honest!

Just haven't felt like getting on. Still not feeling all that great. I've gotten absolutely nothing done today. I don't even feel like working on a circuit card.

Gee, Nobody in in 3 hours? I must smell. I took a shower...honest!

When I went to get the mail it was a beauteous day out there. 72 warm and sunny, i went in shorts. FIrst time this year...

When I came back I threw the mail on the porch with the keys and set about doing something with the front planter. I pulled the cascading crabgrass {franken-grass by the size of it} from off the "bricks" {the gray stackable kinds for just such purposes}. The planter is in sad shape. The rear wall is the thin cinder blocks stacked over pounded-in steel rebars. It all is removable and NOT cemented together so the park can't really say anything-it is Always "removable". I gave up trying to pull more of the crabgrass core out and just piled the dead stuff in the planter for now. should go out and bag it up to take into the wooded area behind us, but it got too hot out there. The front of the trailer faces W so the hot late afternoon sun baring down can be uncomfortable. Especially for us pale northern folks who haven't seen the sun for 8 months now!

I hunted down some of the cheaper algae killer. I wasn't sure we had any left, but found half a blottle it isn't  the heavy duty stuff, though, this is meant really only to keep small aquariums clear of algae if you have no algae eater bottom feeders in your tank. I don't know if it will do anything for the 65 gallon pond.

The pond is rather gross looking now, It USED to be a  farily healthy pond with frogs and other critters making homes in it when left to its own devices. But now there is strange stuff growing or dying in it, including some strange white stuff. Looks like white fluff. The kinf you ues to make puff ball trees. I am not sure what it is. I will have to get an extra cheap large strainer to scoop out the bad stuff. Or get a small pool skimmer i guess.

I have no idea what happened to the siphon hose, I would have started it siphoning off the water, as ultimately the pond must be removed then scrubbed clean and start all over again.

I haven't put up the waterfall part as the pumps, even with filters and filter bags kept giving out every year. they'd last a season, then well drained dried and stored for the winter it wouldn't work too long the next season, so I gave up. The waterfall is a plastic pre-cast affair sculpted to look like a natural stacked or eroded stone waterfall, much like we may make on a layout.

I left the solar lights out in the planter all winter as when I went to remove them last year, the ground was frozen. Amazingly enough, they still work well!

well, that all got to hot for me to do. MAybe in the early morning when it is cooler and shaded out there I will work on it some more....

dinner will be all heat-n-eat leftovers. I cleaned out  fridge and we have beef ribs, mashed taters, stuffing, flavored noodles to have. So I don't really have to cook tonight, but now I made myself quite a few dirty dishes to do before dinner.

have a great night.

well, I installed the new shower rack. It comes with set screws for each shelf. I scrubbed the plastic tub where the old one was {which wasn't supposed to rust either} wiht Kaboom and Lime away and a scrub brush. got all but a reminder stain of rust off the ledge. I gave up trying and scrubbing.

Naturally the Allen wrench they say is INCLUDED ISN'T in the package!

I only have 3 or 4 sets of Allen wrenches, think I could find just one set? The borrowers must have them all. I got resourcefull and found the middle screwdriver of my mini screwdrive set worked! I am not sure they are tight enough, but when I got to Best Buy, I will go to Harbor Freight and get yet another set of allen wrenches. They may even have a coupon in this months flyer. I only get two different flyers.

I am not sure this rack is as sturdy as the other one adn it sure is BIGGER. It takes up more space in the 2' x4' shower than the old one did. The old one also attached by a spring loaded tube to the ceiling, and held firm. This new one is a twist-n-lock affair that may need ocassional adjustments. I don't know. Might be to easy to pull over! MAybe we should get a piece of thick foam rubber and wedge it between the ceiling and the end cap to help squeeze it in tighter.

That and a load of laundry and a hamburger for lunch is my accomplishment for now. The hamburgers are grocery store premixed/made things at 1/4lb which when marked down come out to be about $0.60 a burger, Not a bad price for a quarter pounder...

I am exhausted and BOTH hips have been giving me grief all day. Must be the rainy weather we experienced last night or the showers we expect today. My back was acting up at the store nad I carry emergency meds with me, so I took both a pain and muscle relaxer then. Buit I had NO joint stress relief {or what ever medical term it is} with me, so I had to wiat til I got home. It does wonders! Gotta refil my emergency stash WITH some of those.

I think except a few household chores I am done for the day. I am not going out to BEst BUy or Harbor Freight.

My hips aren't up to it. Unusual for them both to be bothering me.

Ulrich: looking good! Now a few well placed Sea Gulls flying/sitting around and you will be more realistic! Got any boats yet to put in the "water"?

Satis magnum diem!

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, just a bowl of Organic Maple Pecan Crunch cereal and a pot of Seneca Lake Blend dark roast coffee.  Keep my R&GV RR mug full if you would!  Thank you Ma'am.

Jeffrey, same to you my friend and remember, "Illegitimi Non Carborundum"!

I got a call from my son this morning telling me he started mowing his lawn today...  He is mowing and rolling it at the same time.  He had to stop as the lower part is still too wet at the moment.  He is also getting ready to till up a garden spot so I need to use my Rototiller and then give it to him.  Since my garden is raised beds I will use my little battery electric tiller as the old gas one cant' do much in there.  Figure he can use it more than I and will know where it is if I need it.  That will take care if the last gas operated piece of equipment here at my house.  From now on everything will get power from the roof of my house...

Have to go over to the Drug Store at the Medical Arts Building here in town and drop off a prescription and ask then if they will take care of renewing my Diabetic test strips for me.  I have my 6 month check up with my doctor in not quite 2 weeks but will run out by early next week....

Couple more shots from the convention:

well,

I started to to go to the grocery pharmacy, take back bottles, go to the post office, go to Bed Bath and Beyond, go to Best Buy.

i did all but the last one. They weren't open yet, not until 10 am. I was home, unloaded, put away and ate before 10!

I was early for the grocery pharmacy, I went early to have time to feed the bottles into the hungry machine. But I was still early, so I wandered around the store. Found some marked down beef {there wasn't any yesterday} that expires 2 days from now. It will be eaten or feozen or pre-cooked later. MOH loves beef, and the only way we can afford it these days is to buy the marked-down stuff. MOH would eat "beef and noodles every night". So I did an experiment about a year ago. I served beed and noodles EVERY NIGHT for 3 weeks straight! MOH NEVER complained. I figured sooner or later MOH would say"lets have something else"...but NO. I was the one who broke! I switched and told MOH I wanted no complaints about the chicken I served  {my favorite, MOH's least favorite, next to fish} as I was tired of 3 weeks of beef!

Naturally with the bottle coupons in my shirt pocket, I forgot to give them ot the cashier to take off my bill! SO I went back and picked up some premade teas that were on sale for 5/$5. Guess how much I had in returnable bottles? Yep, $5 even.

Got my script, and also bought 3 large bags of red mulch on sale for the front planter. I can't lift such things any more and my back was screaming already without the heavy duty pain med and I hadn't ben standing in the store that long! The one who did the carry out and loaded the bags of mulch was a young girl! the male cashier asked if she wanted him to do it or not, and she said no, she would do it, I reminded her i had the bags of mulch, too. SHe said No problem. I feel bad when something like that happens! It took me forever to ask for the first time for a carry-out as it just goes against my "manliness" I guess. I used to work retail and I was the one doing the carry-outs!

MOH will have to unload the bags, or I get the hand truck and roll them out onto it to move. One of tehse days I will go to the Restaurant supply shop nad get one of those giant Ice scoops restaurants use. It will come in handy for such situtations where I can take out a giant scoop at a time of something like the mulch.

The red mulch will be the only thing in the planter this year. A couple years ago MOH had the brilliant Idea to spray RoundUp brand weed killer in the planter as that year I just could not manage planting it, and it was full of weeds. well, guess what? it has "spoiled " the dirt for anything else to grow EXCEPT the crabgrass and other weeds now! I thought last year maybe the RoundUp had leached out  the bottom of the planter or had lost its potency as MOH sprays it every year around the trim areas of grass to avoid using the weedeater and to stop the weeds growing in the stones in the driveway. The plants I planted last year died quickly due to the Round Up.Then the rabbits ate off the foliage anyway. WOnder if they got tummy aches? I wonder if we dug some dirt down a ways, put in heavy mil plastic and re-topped it with new dirt if I could plant anew this year? I want somehting like the gray "poofs" mounds  of Silver-something-whatever-it-is-called. They are suposed to stay all year. I could leave  few holes into which to plant some annuals if I wanted. The planter is a far cry from the home of teh "Franken-mato" tomato plant a few years aog that TOOK over the whole front ot the trailer! SOme of you may remember that .

I went to B,B&B to get a new shampoo/soap rack for the back corner of the tub/shower. Got a new stainless steel one i hope fits. there is a ledge around the tub to sit it on and it expands to reach the ceiling. If it DOESN't fit on the ledge, ther is no orom for it because the back of the tub curves quite a bit. the rack would be in the center of the tub. The old was was stainles steel and wasn't supposed to rust, and of course it did. the old claimed the same as the new one: "won't rust and will last forever". HA! I also found a Panama Jack "air conditioned hat". I t has holes in the top uprights for airflow, but has the very top full covered and a big wide brim on it to keep sun off. Having big huge scars on my forehead from having skin cancer remoced, I cover up in the sun and don't care if I look "pasty white" or not. But I sweat profusely if my head has no heat release, so the hat will work fine. I have a couple nice straw woven ones, but, also, the sweat bands have outlived their usefullness, are stained nad a bit mishaped, and I can't throw them in the washer like i can the baseball caps i usually wear. so a new hat was in order. Scrubbing wiht a brush proved futile.

Never got to Best Buy to get new printer ink, They don't open to 10. BB&B used to nto open til ten, but that was only for the winter months. I thought may Best Buy would have changed hteir hours too, but NO.

So that is my exciting morning.

Now I will see if I get into other trouble, or go out later to Best Buy for the ink. I can change oput the shower caddy adn do a load of laundry adn finish of fthe dishes. That is a start!

have a great day!

My locomotive shed is starting to take shape.   I am unsure where else to put braces on the wood though.  I am planning to see if my club has any scale lumber that was donated with the other stuff, and would buy some of that.

Looking good Ulrich.

Good morning. It's 73° with 90% humidity. The high will be 85° with a fair chance of showers and thunderstorms.

Not feeling good today. Gall bladder was acting up last night. Nothing planned for today. No projects, no ideas. I'll just sit back and take whatever comes along as best I can.
