Walthers Trainline DCC Set
Posted by MATTHEW JENKINS on Monday, April 7, 2014 3:04 PM

I just got this set the transformer produces the sound not the train. I was wondering when i buy a DCC Train will i get 2 sounds at once from train/transformer or will the transformer know that it doesnt need to do it cuz the train is going too. I know that might sound confusing but if anyone knows please let know. Thanks

Walther´s RailTech train set features a regular, but trimmed down DCC command station, fully compatible with Digitrax DCC components (and others, as well). The sound is not in the "powerpack", but in the loco. You can run any sound equiped DCC loco with it.

No, in this case, the sound actually IS in the power pack. You can turn the volume down so the only sound would be the sound in a sound-equipped loco. Or plug in a second throttle to run 2 trains at once, one generating sounds from the base unit, the other with a sound decoder. What they did more or less was incorporate a Sounbug type of decoder in the base unit, complete witht he generic diesel adn generic steam sounds, with a button to select between them. Otherwise, the base is a fairly generic DCC control that will run any DCC loco, sound or not. And it can be expanded with any Digitrax Loconet compatible products. The Trainline base unit will still function as a throttle in an expanded system, it's not a throwaway item.
