Walthers Amfleet Cars-?? about the older ones
Posted by ho modern modeler on Saturday, March 29, 2014 5:18 PM

I have a set of the older Walthers Amfleet cars that I would like to try to detail like the newer ones. I can tell by the $19.95 price tags that they're pretty old. Not sure if they or the Superliners were the first plastic passenger cars that they manufactured. I can make easy interiors and add details to the outside and underside. My question is about the trucks. At first I thought the cars would need battery powered lights, but then I realized that the wheelsets are metal, insulated and held in with a spring that contacts the axles and each truck could tap power from a rail. Has anyone else put lights in their cars. It appears that a wire to each truck would do it (I'm in DC). Thanks.
