Hi guys! I just saw this amazing video of a big HO model railroad in Germany and I tought I should share it with you. I didn't know we can make the little cars put their lights on to warn on which side they will turn and I didn't know we can also make cars move on the road. I was surprised to see airplanes flying and I really don't know how they do it. Wow, I'm impressed.

I have been there a number of times, as I live about half an hour´s drive away from it. I go there frequently, just to see what´s new. Yes, it is amazing, really a miniature world, with plenty of fascinating detail, but also a few gimmicks I could certainly go without. However, we should not understand it as a model railroad in our way of understanding.
It is a well made, but commercial display, built to earn money with it (and that the Braune brothers do).
I must say I was impressed by the gadgets but not by the buildings. They don't seem to have been painted or weathered at all.

I find it quite difficult to judge a layout/display just by watching a video. Go there, see it for yourself - it´s worth the trip to Hamburg (plus all the other things you can do in Hamburg)!
Watching this now on How do they do it. Fascinating display. Model planes taking of, landing, taxiing. Moving trains, cars, buses, fire engines. About 250,000 figures. Lots of trains.
Behind the scenes was quite something. Little details many are not aware of.

As Ulrich has pointed out, it IS something to behold in person. Videos do not do it justice. I was there 4 years ago, when the airport portion was under construction. My wife and I took a 5 week vacation to Germany as that is where she is from, after I returned from Iraq. We did a road trip, visiting her family and friends and while in Hamburg, she surprised me a surprise destination, that being Minitiar Wunderland. She figured on us being there 1 1/2-2 hours.... yah, 6 hours later......
Again, as Ulrich said, if you ever get a chance, go. You will not be let down!
