Who uses the roller stands?
Posted by locoi1sa on Saturday, January 4, 2014 4:33 PM

I finished putting a WOW decoder in one of my brass steamers (2-10-0). Setting the chuff rate using nothing but the short run of my modules has proven difficult. With Loksound and Tsunami you can do it with speed step one. With WOW they suggest speed step 15. I tried using a lower speed step but run out of room quickly and audio assist is slow to respond. Using the 4 CVs has been time consuming also.

I found on Ebay a set of four HO scale rollers put out by Polk Hobbies made by Aristcraft for under $30. They are a lot smaller than the Bachmann and Bachrus rollers and work great. Less than 3 minutes and the chuff is perfect.

The rollers have proven themselves. Well worth the $30.

I used some rollers a few years ago when setting up a MDC Climax with Micro Tsunami for chuff rate and fine tuning the sound processor. Slow moving with rapid chuff rate.

If you ever fall over in public, pick yourself up and say “sorry it’s been a while since I inhabited a body.” And just walk away.
