My MR Website Problem with Windows 8.1
Posted by peahrens on Monday, November 11, 2013 3:24 PM

The last few days I could not get the website to go from the MR home page to the Community / Forums page.  I suspected that last week downloading Windows 8.1 update had something to do with it, possibly including IE11 browser.  Playing with browser settings for security, privacy, content did not help.

I called Kalmbach customer service and Megan there quickly zeroed in on the issue: the need to turn on "compatibility view".  This has to be done under tools / internet options with Windows 8.1 (not available at the address bar anymore).  I think I may have had the Windows 8 version with compability view "on" for the MR site, but forgot about it, as I have rarely had to use that for the sites I typically view.

I was pleased with the Kalmbach responsiveness and knowledge on my issue.

Running Firefox 25 and Windows 8.1.  Nary an issue with the MR site.

IE 11 is a dog's breakfast.  It took both my wife and me three days to sort it out on her four-year-old VAIO laptop.  We kept getting 'IE had to be shut down".  We finally uninstalled all versions resident on her hard drive, and loaded up fresh again with IE9, now back to 10, and her laptop is hers again.
