I noticed earlier that I'm not getting email notifications when I get PM's. I always got them before. When I click on Email Notifications in my profile I get Server Error in '/' Application.

Wanna know what the real screamer is? I can't log out. Even if I wanted to I can't do it. I tried and all I got for my trouble was 404 - File or directory not found.

Question is, who gave Galaxy a pink Hi-Lighter??

That's what I'd like to know!

that Is what I'd like to know too?
That particular limmerick is a "borrowed one" so it could have come via that transmission. Watch to see if future ones come pink highlighted...of course my own creations will not be "borrowed; so they come in basic black!

I sent you a PM Jefffrey to ask how to get the BBCode you were talking aobut to get color in. I look forward to your reply. If you replied already, then I see another problem..there is no tel-tale sign next to "messages" up there to tell me that I have a message!

Meanwhile: I went grocery shooping and to Wally WOrld. I bought a 2 foot prelighted tree. I am tired of the pain of dragging out the boxes of the 4.5 foot tree, the decorations and all that are very buried in the closet. This little number will sit in a smaller closet for the restof the year. easy to get at.

I can't unlock the bold there....only wanted to bold the the number 2. THe under-the tree-layout is a bit of a pain also, hence the reason to go to a 15R On30 maybe on a smaller platform. MOH complains about the board taking up space in the LR doorway to the Kit for the season! Of course MOH gets to run N scale too, but apparently that is wearing off.

So a smaller board {nex tyears project} and a smaller easier to get-set up tree are in order!

Now, of course, after getting the injections Tuesday, my back is absolutely screaming at me. I should have perhaps waited a week fullly before calling on it in "strenuous work" mode. It will settle down. I did absolutely NOTHING TUes. And Wed. to rest up. But apparently not enough. the week of geting injections is always a bad one for me, the "cure" is almost worse than the affliction!

Well, off to bed to rest my back!

Have a good one

When you get runaway bold like that highlight the text you don't want bolded then click 'Format' in the top of the toolbar. Scroll down and click 'Clear Formatting'. The bolded text will revert to normal. So your overbolded part of your post will come out looking like this:

Good Morning from frosty Winterpeg.

I see others have had similar problems to myself regarding IE. I am running Windows 7 and for some reason I started getting many error messages. I did a search and found I wasn't alone so I am now using Chrome. I don't get the errors and I find it faster than IE.

Garry, you were asking how I like retirement. It is fine so far. I have managed to get a lot of paper shredding done of old bank statements, etc.  which took several days. The shredder kept overheating and shutting down so it was getting a good workout. Amazing how much stuff can be jammed in a filing cabinet. I have stopped by the office for coffee a couple of times to visit. It is a somewhat strange feeling not to have any responsibilties there but frankly I'm glad. I had over 30 years of dealing with nothing but negative situations which is what the job entails when you are in charge of a credit department.

This past weekend we were down in Minnesota visiting friends and I picked up a few train orders that I get shipped there. I acquired an Atlas THB boxcar, an Intermountain CP box car and a Kadee hopper. I know I said I was getting out of CP but this one has a 'Spans the World' logo which I have always wanted and besides, it was on sale! The Kadee hopper has incredible detail so I can see why they are so expensive but again it was on sale so the price was right. I think I am mostly done my upgrade of rolling stock.  I also picked up the N scale GP9 I had ordered in early Sept. It is in CV livery. It ran poorly when I tested it last night but a lubrication fixed the problem.

I am thinking of buying a BLI Dreyfuss Hudson as a Christmas present to myself. It doesn't fit my layout but I really like Art Deco and the price is right.

See you later,

CN Charlie

Good Evening Gang!

Thought I drop by before I close the day.

Gave that last plan of mine some more detail, and while doing that, decided to give it a go! All I need to buy is a 1´by 4´sheet of 10 mm ülywood to get started on it. Weekend come ...

The plan is not thrilling in terms of the track plan, but it will sure have some atmosphere. The layout will be set in the late 1920´s, meaning that the whole thing will have cobble stone pavement. A sheet of 3 mm Styrofoam and a ballpoint pen to emboss it will do the trick- it only will take ages to complete Smile, Wink & Grin

Should keep me out of mischief for a while!

Good Night, Everyone!

You used the BBCode commands improperly. I explained it in a PM but BBCode doesn't work in PM's so it had to be demonstrated here.

Good afternoon.

CN Charlie ..... A Drefuss Hudson would be a nice engine even if it is not CN. ... I can't say anything because I was running a PRR T-1 for a while across Nebraska on the Burlinton. I can imagine what it would have been like on the front of the Denver Zephyr all the way from Chicago to Denver.  .... Glad retirement is off to a good start.

Rob .... Glad ypu stopped by.

Vincent .... Let us know how the SD40 works out.

Happy Model Railroading!

Whistling

Good Evening Guys and Gals,

Hope all is well with you and your families.

Not much on the RR to report other than some supply purchases from Factory.Direct Trains and Joel and Teresa Prantle in Eltopia, Washington. These are all good people to deal with.Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Well, for those who have shown support to me, I need to bring you up to date,  After being told four times from different tests that there was no Cancer involved, the Surgeon that I have kept pushing with other tests and a week ago I had a Ultra Sound guided Biopsy of this mass on my neck and when the tests came back from the Lab on the Biopsy, the Surgeon told me yesterday that it was as he had expected and that it is Cancerous. So next Thursday I spend all day at the Cancer Clinic going through a mass of their tests and at the end of the day they will report to me on the plan of action and what it will entail.

Even though I was hoping it wasn't going to be, today I felt quite relieved and at a calmer level than what I had been in. Not knowing and being bounced from test to test and the on going waiting seemingly with no end in sight is really draining on a person.

On the main bathroom story, I finished the floor and got all the old wallpaper and backing off the walls, so I will rest from that for a day or two....

It is also Grey Cup week-end here with our own Roughriders as the host team from the west.  Hamilton Tiger Cats are the east contenders, so lots of hype going on there this week with the game on Sunday. Of course we are cheering for the Riders.  Big Smile

I went to Toys-R-Us today and bought my Grandson's Christmas present.  Any Guesses ???  A wooden train table layout and added a Thomas engine to it as well.. It has a roundhouse, a turntable, a truss bridge, a little mountain tunnel, a loading crane, a hospital with a heli-pad and helicopter, a number of vehicles and of course a five car train.  I,ll love getting it set up for him and he is going to go bananas over it.  When he comes here now he grabs my hand and says Papa, too toot and pulls me towards the basement door.  He loves watching the trains especially the "peep-hole"ones. Thats the passenger cars. He loves to push the button that makes the horns blow, but is really good about not reaching out and touching the moving trains.

Think I will check out for this evening as I have a few Church phone calls to make.

Prayers and kind wishes to all.  Night now............

Evening guy

Didn't do much today. All I did was put in a circuit board into the BLI NW2 that has a bad QSI decoder. For now I have one of those lokpilots in it, but I'll probably get a lenz (my MR club sells them for $25) in it when I can. I still need the 2-function deocder for the other 1. Perhaps I can get someone to buy the lokpilots I have.

I would have done more, but my head started hurting like mad around noon, then around 6 my gut started hurting. now I'm feeling better. IDK what's going on there

Johnboy, is it a tumor or one of those weird moles that goes cancerous? I had the latter on my nose a few years back.

Garry, It's most of the way done already. I just need the nose light you mentioned and a decoder. I'm pretty sure I have everything else.

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

I didn't get a chance to do anything with Oliver's adventure today. Part of my free time was used making copies of three Zork disks then I sent the originals back to their owner. I wasn't going to take a chance on having the //e running too long. There were some pretty serious dips in the power today and I didn't want one of those to damage the regulator in the power supply or damage the ROM or the Processor chips. I'm calling it a night a bit early. Didn't sleep well last night so I'm pretty tired tonight.

See y'all tomorrow.

Johnboy: My best wishes to you. Wonderful things are being done these days and I'm hopeful that your problem will be easily treated.

A very nice day here, with temperatures in the low 50's. We got up this morning and went out for breakfast. Following that we did a few errands and then I picked up new eyeglasses at the opticians. I have worn progressive bifocals for many years with no problems, but these may have to go back. When reading, there is only a very small area where things stay in focus. So I am constantly having to move my head. I've never had to do this before, so it's somewhat irratating. I will wait until next week though, maybe I just have to get use to them.

It was so nice out when we got home this afternoon, I decided to take advantage of the weather and put the outside Christmas lights up. I won't turn them on until after Thanksgiving, but I also won't have to put them up in the snow or freezing temperatures either.

I am getting more familar with my radio scanner that I got recently. Has a bit of a learning curve but I have got the basics down. Well, I think I do. I also ordered a new antenna for it. It's designed to improve the reception for railroad frequencies. At least that's what I've been told. We will see. I am amazed at the distance which this little hand set will pick up signals. Modern electronics are amazing. Now if I could only figure out how to work the remote for my TV I would be really happy.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend. I'll be spending a few hours railfanning on Saturday, so I'm looking forward to that. The wife mentioned we should go on Sunday for a few hours as well. That's one of the reasons I've kept her around for so long. That and she can cook.

Been speed matching locos today, amazing how 7 Atlas GP38's can all be different from one another.Sigh Also removed the bulbous BN SD24 headlights and replaced them with BLI blocker plates. ( just like the prototype) Got a few more units to do tomorrow, also want to strip my Kato NW2 chassis and drop it off at my buddies machine shop so he can shave the sides and cut the top down. Its will get a Loksound Mini, then go under my Canton RR SW7 shell.  The stock Athearn drive is too noisy, why rework it when I can upgrade to the Kato?

Did galaxy figure out the color thingee yet??

Karl .... Evidently it was a productive day in your locomotive shops.

Vincent. ... Sounds like you are getting a lot done, too.

JohnBoy .... Definately praying for you. Hopefully, your doctors will have a greater sense of urgency now they know it is cancer to be cured. We diners care about you; so keep us informed.

My model railroad friend, Reggie of Illinois will be here with his wife this weekend. He is the namesake for my Reggie's Junk Yard. Sp, we are busy getting ready for company.

I spent time today getting the layout ready for weekend operations.

morning coffee in the diner...

GOOD FRIDAY MORNING!!

Friday, November 22nd!

{the day President Kennedy was assasinated}

Today's fun limmerick:

To manage to keep up a brain,
It's no easy job, it is plain;
That's why a great many
Don't ever use any,
Thus avoiding the care and the strain.

Today's weird words:

[color=red]sub rosa

:adverb: Secretly, privately, or confidentially

panjandrum :a protection or safeguard

pullulation: germination; a random and abundant increase.

Sam's sub rosa panjandrum was at its pullulation, and proved to be a great idea.

Hang it all, I will get it right someday! I wish they would add back in the color selections!!!! I AM a colorful person, y'all know!

Cancer is no joke! I DO hope they find a method of treating you that you can live with easily enough.

My father had/s prostate cancer the tissues were frozen, cutting off the "food supply" to the cancer. He did that in 1994/5 and is still among the living now some nearly 20 years on!

Any ideas on removing it? Will they be able to tell if it has matasticized?

I will add a prayer candle just for you, johnboy out...

Johnboy, stay positive.  You've already got the right attitude - it's better to know what you're up against so you can develop a plan.  And, it's good to have friends, which you certainly do.

My own plan for the weekend is to take in the Greenberg show in Wilmington, MA, the first of the season.  I'll just look for detail parts, as usual, and hope the guy with all the little screws is there.  I need some 1/4 inch 2-56 screws to mount new trucks on the rest of my old Tyco cars.  Last week, I upgraded the last of my Tyco clamshell hoppers with new trucks and metal Intermountain wheelsets.  With the original plastic wheels, my Bachmann 2-6-0 couldn't even move the 11-car train, but now it can pull the whole thing plus a caboose all the way around.

It's almost winter.  Rain here, but it's snowing up north in the mountains.

It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.

Good Morning!!!

Coffee and two eggs over medium, hashbrowns and a coupke sausage patties please. Thanks.

Johnboy- I’m sorry to hear it is cancerous, but I am glad they stuck with testing so now they knoiw and you can get proper treatment. Prayers for you of course.

You know, this new forum looks alot like the one before the one we just had.....just an observation.

Have one more wall to do in the basement and then measure for the shelves this morning, then wo*k this afternoon/evening. Not sure what this weekend will bring, I’m hoping to get a little time to start prepping for the model railroad season.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a short stack of Buckwheat pancakes with real NYS Maple Syrup, a side order of bacon, and lots of dark roast coffee in my R&GV RR mug, please and thank you!

Johnboy, hope they can get the tumor taken care of very quickly for you and whatever follow up they have for it does the job completely!  My prayers going out to you and yours!

The more I use the new Downgraded site, the less I like it....  The others all grew on me, but ythis mess has just lost too many good things the old software had and is much harder to use on a "Computer"....

We held electins for the Trusteesa last night at the Museum Meeting.  I was one that was asked to help count ballots, but got back to the meetingn in time to move to adjourn. LOL

It was pitch black out driving last night and most traffic was only doing 65 to 70 on the NYS Thruway in response.  I found a Semi going about the speed I wanted to go and just stayed behind him....  Turns out he was getting off at the same exit. Whistling

I hope to find some time today to get some things done on the Blacksmith's Shop project.  I really need to get it completely done before the end of the year.

Dark, gray, and gloomy out there today in the Finger Lakes.  Currently 45°F with a high around 50° later.

Cath you all later!

Johnboy

: I hope they can nip that tumor in the bud quickly.

Good morning. It's 65° with 100% humidity. The high will be 72° and feel like 77°.

Looks like it's gonna be a wet one today. Rain showers are expected to continue on through to Tuesday night. Temps during that time will hit freezing only once, Sunday night.

I intend to work on Oliver's adventure some more today. I have a bit more unpleasantness planned for him.

No other plans.

Afternoon All,

Just got back from Lowes about options on the stairwell so we can finally finish the upstairs flooring project (never ending). I think I know what I want to do, now to convince MOH.

I have the option for posts here to go to my Email. That has not happened for several days. Today about 30 minutes ago I get 56 emails from the Diner.

Tomorrow I am going to drive up to Jon's train store and hope I can meet Phil there. It's been awhile since I have talked  to him in person.

John Boy- I am sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I wish you the best and will add you to my prayer list.

Hope everybody has a great weekend and prayers for those in need.

Curt Webb
I have the option for posts here to go to my Email. That has not happened for several days. Today about 30 minutes ago I get 56 emails from the Diner.

Same thing happened to me a little while ago for PM's, and I get quite a few PM's so I noticed it right away.

  Morning All,

Currently it is 31 with an expected high of 41 under mostly sunny skies. We had our second s**wfall yesterday, nothing stuck on the roads, but about 2 inches on the grassy areas and vehicles.

W**k today, and there is a big gun show in town this weekend, so we should be pretty busy.

Todd, thanks for going to Scheels. I hope you spent a good amount of money to help my ESOP grow this year. If I retire as I plan next year, I will not get any of next years ESOP as we do not pro rate it.

Johnboy, more prayers are on their way for you. I hope they get that cancer taken care of completely.

Not sure I like this new up-down-grade. I do not think I do.

   Prayers to all in need.

    Paul

Wow! I had heard there was an upgrade(?) but nobody said anything about mass reconstruction! I think they missed a few spots. I am not getting emails on threads I watch or on messages. Okay I got a couple of those today. I cannot log out. I get an error. It really does need work.

Yeah-up!

The email notifications is WORKING again! I just got 11 email notifications of PMs I was in! Hey, Thanks Jeffrey! Somehtin still didn't come out right as you can see in my opening today..dunno why.

WEnt to the dentist and had my few remaining tooofers cleaned. I had my bottom partial fixed so it wasn't cutting into my mouth. FIts better now that my gums have healed from being swollen adn bleeding all fromt the partial.

Miserable rainy day here, but in the 40s so I'll not complain!

OH, OH, OH! Remember about 3 weeks ago I asked for parayers for MOH for a job promotin? WEll guess what? MOH got a call yesterday and OGT THE JOB PROMOTION! It is SUPPOSED to mean more hours and thusly more money adn MOH will have BENIES! That may cost us the increase in pay through extra hours though. Thank you for your prayers!

JOHNBOY OUT_ I have had cancerous growths removed form my skin and now as a {not so skinny} white boy avoid the sun at all costs now! I have  also had benign growths removed. I had two humungous benign tumors removed form my back/spine area. I can't help but think such growths, while benign, are still not that great for your body to deal with  though. I have STRONG familial cancers on both sides and within direct parental/grandparent alignment too. Prayer candles will remain lit for you!

Well dinner is seasoned chuck roast of beast. buttered garlic noodles and green beans.

Have a great nights sleep!

Evenin' folks!

Chloe, I could use some comfort food...  Something like Macaroni and cheese, the homemade stuff.  You do?  Great!  That and a cup of hot chocolate will do me nicely.

I see little by little they are getting all the missing bits and pieces back into the Forum Downgrade....  Hopefully they will increase the font size where you type the post and maybe get a spell check back working on it soon.

Just lit a fire in the wood stove to get the place warm...  Most of the day it was in that inbetween temperature where it is chilly at the temp I have the gas furnace set to and still too warm outside to light the stove.  Now that the sun has gone down...  What am I saying?  The sun never showed up today at all!  Solar panels didn't even make 1 and a half kWh today...  I used more than that in the car running around in town with my lights on.  Dark, gray, and icky weather today around here.  Supposed to get some white stuff in the next 36 hours I guess.  I may have to try out the sn*wblower on the porch Sunday morning before Church.

As soon as I get the stove leveled off I will head downstairs to get a bit more done on the Blacksmith's shop.

Catch you all later!
