Steamer light

Hi friends: my question is simple.

Were the steam locomotives able to inverse the light direction? Or the front and rear lights were ON all the time.

Thanks

I'm assuming you are speaking of real locos, the the answer is yes, they were completely controllable from the cab , as long as the steam to the dynamo (steam powered generator) was on!

And, depending on the era of a railroad you're modeling, they may not be on except at night.
