WOW Lucky Day
Posted by keithh9824 on Thursday, September 5, 2013 4:01 PM

I just purchased today 2 Atlas C424 TP&W 800 and 801 in the Pullman green and yellow scheme and a Athearn 40 foot box car for 135 dollars. The Locos were never ran and the boxcar was never ran. They are in the original boxes. I thanked the Person i bought them from very much and they will have a good home.

Congrats, that is a nice to have all that for $135.

But you left out the part where exactly you got them from.

I think you payed too much. The street price on those locos is 50. The box car, 5.

Maybe.  Probably depends on whether it is one of the early models or one of the silver series models.  Looking on ebay I saw an undec yellow box model for about $50.  But then there were more optmistic individuals asking $85 on up.  I looked at some of the normal websites (like modeltrainstuff) and didn't see any available.

Well you sure live on a different street than I do. I wish I knew where I could get Athearn box cars for $5.00

Doesn't live on my street either..Sigh

$135.00 sounds like a fair deal-a used BB car with KDs sells for around $5.00 at most shows.
Most yellow box locomotives goes for a more realistic $60-65.00 at the shows I have attended-unless they are being dumped..

he doesnt say they were yellow box atlas.  he says the paint scheme is yellow. THey could be very new versions like train mans .  they can be at least 75 per unit.

Honestly, at the end of the day, if the buyer is happy with his/her purchase then that's all that counts. He seems pretty happy so good for him. Enjoy!

Happy modeling all!

Ebay is NOT a good representation of the street price.  Heck, I see BBs going for hundreds of dollars.  If you posted a WTB on HO Yardsale (Yahoo group) and asked for these specific items,  you would have gotten my price.

David B

Pretty close to the going prices..

The HO yard is risky at best since there's no buyer protection-IMHO its to open to the dishonest sellers that never sends the item after taking your money..

I agree seeing those are Atlas classic Alcos and a Athearn OOP RTR car.

Great price.
