Does anyone know if there is a fitting available to convert my old 1970/80s era binks (model 34) airbrush compressor and hose to my new badger patriot 105 airbrush? The binks air compressor looks like it has a 1/4" swagelok connection at the outlet (for 1/4" pipe). The binks airbrush itself has some kind of straight thread connection with thread diameter of 1/4". The badger connection looks like thier own proprietary size? Smaller.
Will that compressor work well with the new airbrush? I also have a pancake compressor for nail guns.
Any other suggestions or discussion would be appreciated.
There shouldn't be any problems at all. Badger makes an adapter that fits the 1/4" outlet of the compressor and then has a connector that fits the badger hose.
I would check with the LHS for this item, or if they don't have it, an art supply house could/should have it.

I believe you would have better luck, acquiring the parts you need,by going to a Auto Parts store,or for that matter,Sears.someone that sells air powered tools,,,rather than,LHS,or Art supply...
Cheers,
Frank
Thanks guys. I was hoping for a conversion fitting that would connect my binks hose to my badger brush (so I could use the hose). As a chemist I'm a pretty good instrumentation plumber but I am not familiar with either airbrush fittings. I would probably be wasting more time and money trying to find a conversion as a lone wolf here in our smaller town. I see however that the badger hose they sell looks like it has the 1/4" swagelok on one end that I can make fit anything. So I'll just buy another hose.

Carey,
What was throwing me off,is that you kept saying,,,swagelok 1/4 inch....Swagelok is a company,,they do produce fittings and so forth,,,but that does not mean, what you are looking for,,for instance, you are looking for a 1/4 inch threaded reducer,to fit on the hose, one end is threaded to receive your hose the other end has 1/2 female threads,to receive a1/2 threaed 1/4 nipple. I can't post pic's..hope you understood what I meant. The reducer is usually brass...You said you live in a small town,,so I don't know what you have,as far as stores go...Any Auto paint supply,or Auto Parts store should have what you need,,for the parts are used also on Professional paint equipment, air compressors, air tools,,,what you are looking for is not unique to air brushes...
Frank, I never said anything about a swagelock. That was the OP. All I said was that Badger makes a connector that will screw into any 1/4" air compressor outlet, and then screw into the Badger airbrush hose.. I'm talking about an adapter that is 1/4 inch on one end and maybe 1/8" on the other.
I've seen plenty at Hobby Shops and Art Supply houses that sell Badger airbrushes. I've never seen one at an Auto Parts store, esp Sears.
I apologize to You,,,,when I hit reply,,,I saw your name, and for some reason, typed it in instead of the OP's..
By the way,,your last sentence, about,,''I never seen one at an Auto Parts store, esp Sears'' I know they don't sell air brushes,,but that wasn't my point,,,the parts that the OP was looking for,are not unique to air brushes,,,but they are also used in Professional paint equipment, power tools and compressors...
Here is a photo. Shown is a male to female. They are also available in male to male. Look at a full line auto parts store like Napa. Ask for a 1/4 to 1/8 BSP reducer. Another place might be Home Depot or Lowes in the plumbing section. Amazon or Ebay has them also.

Ahh that's what I was wondering! So you are saying the Badger and Binks airbrush fittings (not the compressor end) are BSP? That I might be able to handle. These would then need to be the parallel thread version which looks like what you have shown. I will look at those fittings again to see if they cone seal or what....
Do all airbrushes use BSP (ISO parallel thread)?
Thanks,
e.c.
Oh yeah, by the way: Yes, the Binks compressor has what looks like the classic 1/8" NPT to 1/4" Swagelok fitting at its output. Swagelok is the company name but the style of fitting is also called Swagelok. Parker has a similar compression fitting called "A-LOK" tube fittings.
Seem's,to me,,that there are,a few Happy Campers on the Forums today,,,,
Have Fun, All..
