Weekend Photo Fun 21-23 June 2013
Posted by mlehman on Friday, June 21, 2013 5:01 AM

Looks like I get to kick off WPF this go-round. Been doing a lot of PM on couplers, trucks, and loco performance, but got some pics on the layout.

Here's the Red Mountain Mixed at Silverton.

A close-up of the motive power, #3.

A scenic spot along the old Silverton Railroad.

A shot at Chattanooga on the return trip.

Another look at #3.

Here's a look at another freight at Tefft as it met a downbound pole train off the Cascade Branch.

That's all for now.

Beautiful models in beautiful settings.  Great start, gentlemen.

My town is called Moose Bay, so I thought this was an appropriate product:

When I bought my original HO-scale train set, a box of Athearns, it had a 50-foot gondola with six of these canisters.  Over the weekend, I made up decals for this imaginary product from the Rocky and Bullwinkle show.

Good morning, as I managed to nail a deer on my way to work this week, spare time has been spent seeing the insurance and car repair folks, so nothing new this week.  So here are some old pictures that I may or may not have shown before.

Kato SD40 and 45 That I detailed, painted and decaled are pulling into Thurd on the Strongsville Society of Model Railroad Engineers layout, a lot of cars that I detailed and painted are following the locos.

Looking good so far guys.

I don't remember if I've posted this one before, but here it is from my updated website.

New York Central E-8 #4040 at the head of a short passenger train passes Grafton Tower on the inner main line on the BRVRR. This short train is typical of the consists on NYC trains near the end of passenger service although most still had A/B locomotive sets assigned until the PennCentral takeover.

Keep the photos and ideas coming guys. You always make this the best thread of the week.

Remember its your railroad

Great stuff so far ...... Mike L : Your narrow gauge is excellent. ... Bear: Nice photo .... Rick : I like the C-Liners ... Mr. B.: Okay if you say so. That  isa one of a kind load! ....Allan: I like the NYC passenger train.... Roger H: I like the NYC Alco. Actually I'm in the CID too, but I live 300 miles from Indy where most meetings take place. My good intentions of going never result in getting there. ...

Here is an ore train rolling through Blackhawk where there is a junction with the steel mill branch line. You can see one of the mill Baldwin switchers hauling empty coke cars.

Nice pics guys. Here are a couple more closeups of Sublime City. I have a few more buildings to add and a bunch of people and cars and then I will need another project.

Tremendous Work Everyone, Nice Pix!!!!!

Here is an older HO Kato I picked up on an auction site, it was already weathered, & a little uneven.
Ya all think I can turn that one around, & do something with it?
Let me know, maybe it will come back in a few weeks..
Whadda say?

Give it a couple of weeks in your paint shop and it will look entirely different!! Bow

Making progress in rehabilitating the creosote treating plant from my dismantled East Texas piney woods layout.  I have no place for a creo plant on my Galveston island seaport layout now under construction, so I am fixing this industry up to attempt to sell.

Photo unfortunately or fortunately shows me several things to touch up and fix up yet.

Awesome work everyone. A good friend gave me a old Mantua flat car that I put KD's on, metal wheels, painted and weathered.

WOW!!!!    Followed up on my own post in WPF, never thought THAT would EVER happen...!

Well, there is/was a little progress this weekend,  -& it feels good to work on trains again!!!!!!!

Here is my Kato CP SD40 ABS, (Already Been Smudged), unit I got from an auction site. I added a couple Detail Parts, to make it CP-Authentic (added parts unpainted). Also, readjusted the former Weathering (Smudge), to make it more to my liking, by using a small stiff Bristled Fan Brush with a semi-dry wash of 91% Isopropyl Rubbing Alchohol. Now I can begin painting & weathering on my terms.
Enjoy!!!
