WOW! June MR Arrived!
Posted by dexterdog on Friday, April 19, 2013 8:09 AM

I was really surprised to see that my June copy of MR was in the mailbox yesterday afternoon. This is the earliest I have ever received an issue. I usually get mine at the end of the month.

By the way, the double-page ad for MR Video Plus in the June issue is kind of amusing. Our boy Cody is prominently featured in three seperate photos enjoying Video Plus on various devices. The one with him seated with an iPad, a cup of coffee and a Jethro Bodine-sized bowl of cereal is hilarious. He seems quite enthusiastic about MR Video Plus...

Wow, I didn't even get my digital issue yet - and that usually comes a couple of days before my paper copy.

Is it just me or do others find it just a little amusing that the June issue is in our hands in April?

Years ago, when they used to come to Australia by ship, I'd get two issues about 2 weeks apart then wait six weeks for the next couple, but they always arrived at the end of the month they were titled with. Nowadays, they arrive much earlier. I got May about 2 weeks ago, but no June issue yet.

I did receive my Railroad Model Craftsman April issue today in the mail.  It seems to be a pretty good issue so far. They are advertising their 80 years of their magazine. I guess MODEL RAILROADER has been doing it for about 20 years longer.  IIRC MR is about the same age as the Grand Central Terminal.

I live in Canada as well. I know that the Canadian copies of MR are printed in Canada. So perhaps the printing schedule of the Canadian and US magazines is different. But I must admit, it IS somewhat strange to be reading the June Model Railroader with still a week and a half to go in April...

My May copy of MR arrived just a few days ago, which is kind of normal. I received two copies, which is not normal.

As it takes me about a month to read and comprehend all features, I can easily wait for the June issue to arrive Laugh
