OK, not sure if these fit in, but here's 3 projects of mine, not all yet completed.
The cabbage is a Bachmann body, Athearn frame with metal wheels for the lights, the dash 9 in the middle was damaged, so it was chopped to fit on an Athearn SD40-2 frame, the SD40-2T, still under construction, has a wide cab replacing the spartan cab.
Mike. ps. The mill and bakery building behind these units is also completely kitbashed.

Speaking of slugs,
Started like as an Athearn switcher, cut down MDC RS3 walkways and hood ends, center of hood is embossed brass.
Show me some more kitbashing!
Another kitbashed slug, in this case B&M slug 100. Like the prototype, I started with a GP-9 and removed a lot of stuff. An Athearn BB dummy - removed the cab, dynamic brakes, fans, lowered it a few scale feet and covered in in styrene sheet and added some details
B&M 100 was a road slug, usually wotking with GP-40-2s B&M 300 and 301
Show me something else kitbashed
Chad - nice work on that plow! Karl did an RMC article on his slug sometime during 2009. He ran it once on my previous layout, it looks even better in real life!

I thought about snapping some pix of a 'retro' 1971-era TTX intermodal train I just finished. But I figured by the time I unpacked the camera, setup the photo floodlamps, shot the photos, then cropped and uploaded them, somebody else would've beat me to it. Ooops!

Here's one of my kitbashed and custom-painted Cape Breton Development Corporation (or DEVCO) Railway GP38-2. In its heyday, the Devco Railway served a number of mines on Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. What remains today is now called the Sydney Coal Railway, and though it retains a few of these GP38-2s in the same green and yellow livery (including #228 here), they operate only about 15 miles of track. With the local mines closed, they now haul imported coal from the docks in Sydney to the Lingan generating station.
I like this custom-painted short line theme, so let's see some more!

Show me a custom painted short line engine
I think this may qualify. I found a sharp looking blue switch engine shell on eBay and bought it. I had no idea what the letters "CB&W" stood for. After placing the Athearn shell on a chassis and putting it to work I hatched the idea for my new road name, Cedar Branch and Western.
It was many years later that I found out that the shell was lettered for a club layout, the Chesapeake Bay and Western.

This is an old piece of rolling stock OR building. Ambiguity intended. I bought it as one of the rare old-style craftsman kits mftd for N scale about 1975. It came with decal for ICG "split rail" supergraphic, not at all appropriate for this old wood car OR for my 1957-era layout. Looked and looked for a prototype and a decal.
Ended up using it as a retired railcar in service as storage shed at a creosote treating yard on my "old layout."
So.... show me. your "old layout."
I found these Athearn BB 3-dome tank cars at a train show a few years ago. The price on the box end was $2.35, so that probably dates them sometime in the 1950s. I fixed them up a bit with Kadees, metal wheels, a bit more weight and placards

Snake Eye Bennett uses one as a storage bin for scrap metal.
Snake Eye's business was named after a real character in the small town where I grew up. He owned a parrot that knew more huh... colorful words than the average sailor.
